I was snorkeling off San Clemente island when my dad was a Navy SEAL. There was a sheepshead that was very curious, even with spearfishing taking place around the islands. Also a very curious garibaldi that we fed frozen peas to. And btw sheepshead taste like chicken 🤷🏼♂️😆
@ please try not to spear too many of them, as they are important to keep urchins at bay.

@@cramuel256 5 a day is all I can do currently bud, and plus the 5 possession limit...don't worry, I don't cause any harm, it's the huge boats out on the bay that are netting the hell out of the ocean you want to talk to, not a selective breath holding spearfisherman.
@ yeah I was more thinking of the commercial fishing, my head gets all mixed up and sometimes I'll be coming after the wrong person. Local fishermen like you are fine, the blasted commercial fisheries are the bigger problem. Don't take the stuff that I said personally, I just get really pissed about overfishing by bigger companies, destroys the damn environment.
These sheepheads are the only thing to help combat the purple sea urchin that have been eating most of socals kelp beds.
It looks cute when it seems curious ❤
Great video and great eating
Lol, it’s a trans fish
There is no commercial market for California Sheephead. So they are not in danger from commercial fishing...

The California Sheephead is a good fish to catch and to put on the frying pan.
Probably the only fish that is focusing its eyeballs.
