"Thunderbirds" provides exciting, family-friendly action/adventure without any of the sex, violence and vulgar language that pollute today's films and TV shows.
I honestly like the 2015 reboot, but this is still in my top shows. Also, I was trying to find the Thunderbirds 50th Anniversary DVD/Blu-ray with the three episodes, based on audio albums and I can’t seem to find a copy anywhere.
You're right about that. That Supermarionation was really ahead of its time. The creators of South Park used it in their movie Team America World Police. And yes, my name actualy is John Tracy just like the space monitor on Thunderbird 5.
This brings me back to my childhood. I loved the Thunderbirds and still do. So glad that we are able to watch these wonderful episodes after all these years
"Thunderbirds Are Go" was broadcast in Japan on Sunday morning when I was a kid (a long time ago). I've been a big fan since then, and this wonderful show is remembered by so many Japanese who are already middle-aged. Music was also very popular. Even now, this music is often used in Japanese superhero dramas and excites young people who have never heard of Thunderbirds. Thunderbird plastic models were very popular with children and adults alike. When the new Thunderbird model was launched, a long line of children buying it was seen all over the country. So was I. I was crazy about TB2. This green and chubby aircraft was my biggest hero.
Timeless classics. In 1965 I was at a convalescent home in Woodhouse Eaves Leicestershire for six weeks and being Ten years old at the time it seemed more like six months, I was so homesick and upset it was almost unbearable but I remember seeing Thunderbirds on TV for the first time, it eased the pain and I was hooked from then on, so Thunderbirds has sad and happy memories for me.
I tried to explain to my adult daughter why we loved this show....it was from a time where we actually played with toys whether they were trucks, planes, rockets, etc....the things they did on the show were exactly what we did with our toys. Sad that the past generation(s) didn't play the way we did, using our imaginations instead of relying on video games.
Here we are in 2022 and this awesome video is still great. It has given me ideas for a video I am making called "Red Socks and a Black Suit" in which a band of puppets wins an Oscar for their incredible inhuman performance. It's been 2 years in the making. Hoping you all will be onboard when it is finally released. Thank you for showing this again. I love these guys and gals...
このエピソードを子供の頃、たしかに観ました。もう五十年以上も前ですね。まさかもう一度観られるとは、感無量です。 I certainly watched this episode when I was a kid. It's been over fifty years ago. It's very emotional to see it again.
Thunderbirds stands the test of time even today: I find it fascinating what they could do with model aircraft and miniature sets in 1964. The only tricky part was filming the live--action close--ups to add continuity to the program. Hats off to Gerry Anderson for making these Supermarionation series possible! 😁😁😸😸🇬🇧🇬🇧🚀🚀
This was the first episode of Thunderbirds I ever saw, aged 6. I think every time a new machine came on screen, my brother and I spent most of the time going: "I want that!! I want that!!". It was honestly like nothing I'd ever seen before. So damn cool.
I remember seeing this on TV in the 60s because my younger brother was a big fan of Thunderbirds . It was a well put together ,intelligent kids show .Especially in comparison to standard kids programming then ,and since
Regardless of any plot oddities, this kind of episode is where TB shines the best. No need for the Hood and his minions or any other spies and saboteurs. Just straight-up natural disasters, technological errors, and other unforeseen, unplanned problems that don't require the involvement of some enemy.
You know, according to the characters backstory, Scott was actually a decorated Air Force pilot before he IR came about. In that context it actually makes sense that he is essentially quarterbacking Virgil during the missile attack and telling him exactly what to do to try and evade the incoming attacks.
Love this show as a kid; use to cosplay as Virgil of Thunderbird 2. Loved what they did with rescuing folks. I always wanted to help people so finally I got involved with helping my community. I can thank the Thunderbirds for that. When the movie can out a few years ago I took my son to see it and he became a fan. We must of watched it a dozen times plus we bought the dvd series.
