Jemma I just love your interviews. After shelina now this gorgeous and very bright Miss Mauritius. She is so well spoken and a bright lady. Just a real shame that those who should be behind her left her on her own. I watched with despair how our gorgeous Miss Mauritius Universe went through the contest on her own while the others had so many supporters.. You would think that after that long a time they would learn what a beauty contest is all about. Thank you Jemma. Most interesting interview. Am a fan. ❤
Thank you for shedding light on this issue. Mauritius still has a long way to go in pageantry, sports or even entertainment. You are so brave ! I feel very proud to have had you as our Miss Mauritius. I will be rooting for you in any of your future projects.
Liza , thank you for shedding light upon the truth about the organisation! Thank you for being a bold and strong woman . I am so sorry that you have gone through this. Ste Croix is proud of you !!!
Wow, that was so heartbreaking to hear. It puts such a sour taste in your mouth with pageantry when you hear how many contestants have to shoulder the entire cost of participating on an international stage themselves (in stark contrast to the countries that provide everything from wardrobe, to personal assistants for their candidates). Like Liza mentioned, it was an uphill battle, and I’m so glad she was finally recognized in the end with a Top 12 finish. I remember being so surprised she wasn’t chosen as a round table guest for the head to head challenge because her speaking was next level!! Thank you for shedding a light on this Liza. So many people don’t realize the work that goes into preparing on your own (and ideally you should have had support from your organization or someone that helped foot the bill for training a world class candidate). You are a true inspiration and I hope your words change the trajectory of national pageant organizations.
Its because they seen Liza is brilliant in all they didn’t want to promote her, out of jealousy, very common case in Mru, instead belittle so person lose confidence in themselves 👀👀
@@LizaGundowry Liza, Ive been following you since Miss MRU and I am so so so inspired by you, your poise, your mannerism, your work ethics!!! I aspire to be the woman that you are, so, way to more success and good energy!❤️😭
Murielle Ravina voiced the same concerns when she was back from Miss World. It's kind of sad that history keeps repeating itself.. I believe that the whole organisation is problematic and the woman at the head of it should retire. I never liked her.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 very brave two ladies to show the sad truth! Case of such a manipulation and gaslight towards Miss Beauty who supposed to be respected and honored 😢. Thank you for being so strong lady and share your experience!🙏 Mru is proud of you! Keep on shining- stay blessed! ❤🥰
Omw I'm blown away by the atrocious manner in which the pageant treats its participants. Salute to Lisa and every woman 👏 who enters these competitions and has to endure such poor behavior from these pathetic organizations...they get away being so unkind and disrespectful.
Behind all thats glitz and glamor is a dark underbelly....the world is always none the wiser for yet another ugly truth ...there are many many world renowned organizations that have really bad stories that are hidden. Salute ftom south africa 🇿🇦
Wow 2024! can't believe Mauritian is that bad, Govt keep stealing by billions... and no sponsor for such an important event. Congrats to you Liza for being a warrior out there. Proud of my country but ashamed of the govt!

I'm so sorry you came across such narcissistic ppl belittling and gaslighting you... Thanks for speaking out loud what 'everyone' knows in Mauritius: you normally bid the biggest bribe to win Miss Mauritius. This explains why undeserving girls have won (sisters not-to-mention-anyone) against very talented girls. Over the years, the contest was known to be bogus and mauritians were no longer as interested in the contest as before: you wouldn't see sold-out shows like before nor many contestants enrolling/competing. and I think, you Liza, were elected for a temporary rebranding to show everyone that "Look, sometimes, deserving and impressive girls do win, it's not only about bribing". Unfortunately, they are so stupid and unprofessional, that they didn't realise that supporting you could have rebranded " bogus Miss Mauritius" on the global platform 😅 You surviving such a toxic institution, and managing to win so many mauritian hearts and shining on the international platform, is such an inspiring journey!
