Awesome episode two legends helping another angler get it done. I Iove the broodstock program work you guys are doing. I wish Washington would implement the same standards
Dave is always so enthusiastic. And GREAT teacher. Fishing with him in tough conditions or just a slow day, he never gives up and never stops teaching. That "Waiting for violence....OH! VIOLENCE, VIOLENCE!" Bout died laughing.
Hahahahaha I love it! Seeing 2 guys who do this 300+ days a year get so excited over that lost giant was great!!! When dave said "it was this big!!!" I was dying hahahaha
Dammmmn boys that was INTENSE!!!! I could watch big Dave everyday he goes out, I love watching this as much as fishing myself lol 😂🔥 that river is an amazing float experience too.
Can you imagine someone screaming lift lift lift lift lift as if you have 13ft arms. All I can think about is the scene at the beginning of super trooper where the cop tells the guy to pull over and his buddy is like he's already pulled over, he can't pull over any further.
awesome! angler involved broodstock is the way to go and should be in more rivers up and down the coast. we care about these fish as much as anyone and want to be the ones on the frontlines helping restore our fisheries....
@@colevandenplas4653 I understand that but we have to eat also we can't eat wild ones Hatchery steelhead only but we've got to do better and spend money on the habitat you got birds eating the baby steelhead all types of things thank you for getting back to me I agree with you
Wore me out too. We were really trying to get that fish in without hurting it but it was strong. I think Charissa did great for her first battle with a steelhead.
I only have one question for you guys. Please answer this question honestly. When the hatchery takes the wild eggs before the fry are released back into the system ARE THE ADAPOSE FINS CLIPPED FROM THEM? ? ? I can't wait to hear the answer.
@@Sea-townRaisedOutdoors too much fame, big egos. Heard some stories from their past clients. Not saying they’re not outstanding guides, but would be better to give your money elsewhere imo
“When you feel him come don’t stop!” “WHEN YOU FEEL HIM COME DON’T STOP”! 😂 Idk imo I try not to stress and actually enjoy the fight. whenever I try and horse a fish in and net it right away it’s not as enjoyable or I break it off. Great episode though!
It sure would be. But fish are needed for a fishery and the habitat doesn't allow very high survival rates of wild fish at the moment. Wild fish arent lethal spawned, and after they are spawned for broodstock, they are released back into the river where theyll head back out to the ocean like normal.
@@colevandenplas4653 in a perfect world, all of the rivers would be healthy wild runs. And that's for sure the end goal. But you have to have interest in the community to get funds for habitat restoration. Taking away opportunities to retain fish to only target and harass the few native fish left is counterproductive. That's why broodstock programs with native doner fish is a good stopgap until we can restore spawing/rearing grounds.
History has proven that they can’t reproduce enough off spring naturally to keep the population healthy hints the decline in almost all wild fish systems between the whales the sealions and other things the mortality rate is high wild fish will be a thing of the past if we don’t do something. Also broodstock takes two wilds and breeds them so the new hatchery fish are from a actually wild gene bank
The overwhelming majority do. ODFW has a limit on the number of wild pairs it will spawn. It isn't like you take a 2,500 fish run and 2,000 of them are captured and used for broodstock. Take for example the Nestucca, the quota is 65 pairs or 130 fish. To put that in perspective, over the last ten years wild returns have been estimated at between 2,000 and 10,000 wild fish returning to that river. That makes for as much as 6.5% of the wild fish return being used. That is a pretty reasonable limit if you ask me.
Big Dave and Nick should star in a movie together. These two are solid gold!
Popov and Big Dave are two of the NW best!! Angler West had better have these two around OFTEN!! AWESOME VIDEO!!
Awesome episode two legends helping another angler get it done. I Iove the broodstock program work you guys are doing. I wish Washington would implement the same standards
2nd that
3rd
I'm not convinced, only fear that the damage will be done before the reality of the situation hits.
I just can’t get enough of Dave and Nick. Ty for the good information
Dave is always so enthusiastic. And GREAT teacher. Fishing with him in tough conditions or just a slow day, he never gives up and never stops teaching.
That "Waiting for violence....OH! VIOLENCE, VIOLENCE!" Bout died laughing.
He called it. Dave actually called it twice but the fish didn't get hooked up and didn't make the show.
Big Dave love your fishing trips worked with your dad at mist good people
Hahahahaha I love it! Seeing 2 guys who do this 300+ days a year get so excited over that lost giant was great!!! When dave said "it was this big!!!" I was dying hahahaha

Angler involved--that's the key. Thanks for watching.
If Big Dave shaves his beard then it’s gonna be just Dave
Another great video.
Big Dave, you're a great dude! Looking forward to fishing with you again soon as I can get away from this prison of a job.
Thanks for watching.
Man big Dave is the perfect hype man haha
I think he's like that in his sleep also.
Great job in tough conditions! Not really surprised considering the talent in that vessel. Standing Ovation!
“Come on in the waters fine!”😂👌🏽👍🏽
I remember ber a time when float fishing could not be done properly with a spinning reel. Lol. Nothing but good times with Dave.
You got that right!
Angler west Great show keep up the good work have fished the Wilson great river Josie hole
these guys are awesome!!!
Easiest way to get likes, make videos with Big Dave. Great video!
Thanks for watching!
Big Dave is the modern day Buzz Ramsey
I guess so. I know them both well and they are very different people but I think I get what you are saying. Thanks for watching.
Really nice fish. Wow
We need some brood stock programs in Washington besides the ones on the res. Awesome program!
That is important and I'm proud of you guys doing that save our steelhead!!
its not saving the steelhead at all lol, its only "helping" hatchery fish and diminishing the wild population. nature is the best decider not humans!

Normally. Not sure if there are exceptions.
"Chrome Tanker" epic!
Looked like all of those came off the inline float and jig set ups? We’re you guys running in-line beads?
We were using jigs but BnR Soft Beads also.
When Dave is setting up the bead at the beginning of the episode what does he mean by "real long leader"?
4',5,6?
CHROME TANKER!! 😂
For sure. We did lose another one (that wasn't in the episode) that Dave swears was even bigger lol.
These guys should fish with the addicted crew sometime. That would be awesome!
They have-quite a bit.
I would love to fish with those guys!
Trust me, no you don’t
@@captainconnorsadventures6357 why is that?? They both seem funny af and chill to fish with

Please convince washington we need a broodstock program like oregons because our fisheries are absolute trash
I'm guessing they are starting to get the message. We'll see what happens.
Wouldn’t it be cool if those big wild fish spawned on their own- like they’ve done for millennia, and then came back ‘bigger’ next year?
It sure would be. But fish are needed for a fishery and the habitat doesn't allow very high survival rates of wild fish at the moment. Wild fish arent lethal spawned, and after they are spawned for broodstock, they are released back into the river where theyll head back out to the ocean like normal.
it would be! people these days are more concerned about keeping and catching more fish than the native fish health or population

Nick would catch the first fish
Not surprising.
Chetco?
Most likely the Wilson river.
LOL, most likely.
Lmmfao full contact fishing
Only way to do it.
Good video, except Nick sniping that fish out from under the lady
It wasn't really clear in the episode but Charissa actually did that to Nick also. Big Dave calls it Seagulling.
Have you done this before ?
Yeah, remind me ? 👎🏻
Nick barks way too many orders...
I just can’t get enough of Dave and Nick. Ty for the good information
