@@MiswakByNight. I think we agree or are on either side of the same coin. I don't mean emotions should rule you, or trump facts and throw you into insanity. But, that's not strictly a mans thing. Empathy, one shouldn't fight to destroy in themselves either. Self righteousness is not empathy but a selfish desire for ones who control of how the world should be, for example. As for me, I'm a romantic, and I love the emotions of really caring about someone and focusing on them, even the feelings of rejection give me some feeling of being alive.

We were trained that way for a reason..we got thrown away when no longer fit for purpose. Ofcourse I respect them, what my issue is with is how society made them feel and especially the military perpetuating the idea of shutting yourself off in order to follow through on something against your own humanity. That's very rough and hard, and for society to not provide ways to "bring them back" so to speak, and giving them the wrong idea about what it is to be a hard man... It sucks, I feel for you guys. I may not agree that war needs to exist, but because there are assholes out there who start them, there has to be people willing to fight. John Wayne perpetuated the wrong idea about what it is to be a man. Reminds me of the story, how Patton slapped a soldier for being coward who had shell shock. People defend that, seeing as how no one really knew of PTSD back then... But, that attitude needed to be ousted. One can still be a fighter, and a defender, without the idea that a man needs to be emotionless and fearless. Those who come back, killed people, and probably witnessed or did horrible things, and don't have any signs of being affected by it - isn't usually a man. That's just most likely a psychopath - and what pop culture promotes being a man is like, is unrealistic, and similar to a sociopath. I wish those with PTSD know they aren't a horrible person, or can unlive or own what they went through so they can move on and have a loving healthy life, with all the attention they may need. I hope they realize they don't need to hide it or feel ashamed of being emotionally effected by what they went through. It's okay.

Both have a ton of "guys in black clothes with heavy weaponry doing 'good' things in slo-mo" imagery. Whilst it's great fun to watch...seems some impressionable people *cough*Americans*cough* don't take this kind of thing as just fantasy.
The Matrix, Boondocks, Blade, even going back to the Westerns (yes, "Duke f*cking Wayne") - a big gun and a long coat that blows just right in the wind, and you can do whatever you want. It just looks cool.
