@jabs ..that's funny that you mentioned knuckleball sports cards... I got back into the hobby in 2006 bc it was down the block from a place I worked at the time. I bought a box of 2006 Topps cosigners and pulled a 1/1 cut of Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein. That was a heck of a way to jump back into the hobby.

That 9.5 SGC Mantle is over 6 mill currently with buyers premium on the current Heritage auction.
I'm from Chicago so since we get the National here every other year, I've never felt compelled to travel out of state ..... I've actually been kicking around in my head doing a BBQ trade night type of thing for the 2023 National since I'm a local- and over the years I have met really nice youtubeers that enjoy the hobby as much as I do, and if they're going to be in the area, why not have a bonanza? lol.. Not only that but help them out with lodging and such.. I could make the 2023 National a real hoot...At any rate I'll certainly be at the 2023 National... If it matters tho I have heard a lot of complaints about New Jersey tho - just as far as logistics and stuff like parking etc.. Those are issues I know how to avoid here in Chicago, that's weird stuff only you visitors need to deal with, lol (/sarcasm).... But no, I can seriously help collectors save a ton of money just by pointing them in the right direction, and I will be happy do do so next summer....

Those Mantle prices are just insane. Never knew the story of the Rosen Mantle until I looked it up. Guess you never know whats in someones basement until you dig around sometimes!

With Trout's rib issue his prices likely getting even cheaper perhaps.... especially if he misses the rest of the season which I hope DOES NOT come to pass. His last 6 seasons played he has only played in 140 games once...(that's missing 22 games ) and that was in 2016~ 6 years ago at age what 26?!! ..... he is not aging well thus far...
Hey jabs! Today I bought a heritage blaster at target and it turned out to be a hot box! I pulled a Wander hot box parallel and an Andrew Benintendi relic.

Love the Mantle search. My dad has a near complete 1958 Topps set he collected as a child. I get it out just to look at the Mantle every time I make it back home.

My grandpa has a 1951 mantle in very good condition. Not graded because we don’t have the ridiculous amount of money they charge for grading high end cards. Hoping that one day I’ll get it graded and pass it along my family tree!
That Mantle will auction for 6 plus million dollars.
I plan on winning the mega millions tomorrow and then flying up to AC and spending all 1 billion dollars at the national🤣🤣🤣

I think I might know the guy who got mad from shows in CT, I recognize the stickers. If its the same guy he's always grumpy haha, I've only bought a couple cards from him. Has tons of vintage but most is pretty banged up and he gets really upset when you ask for anything lower than his sticker discounts 🤦🏻♂️
Hope you had fun in AC. It's messed up that dealer gave you a hard time over 25 bucks. Especially with the corners being that way. Idk if I would have done business with that guy..

Hey, I believe I watched another UA-camr yesterday that shown the 52 Mantle PSA 10 there. It may have been displayed by Topps, but I’m not sure except they had security around the case and card.
Give it till next year when this recession is hurting, that mantle will be back down again

Dude, I'm a total dollar bin junkie... You can find so much in dollar bins - it's not even funny, lol... I've been known to buy entire bins - like shoe boxes, I think they fit around 400 cards in top loaders - I'll build a box - offer $250 and that usually gets it done - then I'm making 5x on everything I bought - some even more..... Look, it's not a bad strategy at all... I flip cards and 5x makes it worth it- and I get it.. Obviously you're not getting 5x on higher end cards unless you find them cheap in lots - but anything over $50 - I think .75% is a good margin just so you can make a few bucks and have a fun time collecting.
Those 80s baseball box prices seem out of whack. $129 for a 1986 Topps box? What can you possibly hope to pull?

I have always wondered if the booth owners are nervous about carrying all those cards (money) around? Traveling with tens/hundreds of thousands of dollars of individual cards would be nerve-racking! I'd be terrified!

There was a TON of uniformed police at the event, but yes it's still a risk. Lots of people employees and locks around for sure
@9:29 that card sat in a screw down for decade's , and SGC graded it lol, anyone else, their cards would have got rejected for being to thin . defiantly a nice card

Weird thought … You could buy a mantle raw in good shape and get graded, might be cheapest option and could get a great number, but I’m sure everyone who has a decent 52 mantle has sent it in.
