If you like speak-singing. Valjean is terrible. Sing the notes as written, dude. They were written as written for a reason. If you don’t like the way they were written, go write your own song.
@@scotthamilton007 I’d love to see you try to do it. Ramin is incredible. Does he sing everything as written? No but that’s just how he is as a performer. The casting team knew that going in yet they still cast him. Why? Because he’s an amazing Valjean.
@@my2randomcents that's not entirely true. you have to have some form of vocal skill. this was not his first big vocal show. I was just saying he hasn't had formal training and sounds amazing.
@@remyfacade its called being a natural... Michael ball is the same . and Colm actually too.. they are not the typical trained classical/opera singer type
I happened to see him as Val Jean the one and only time I’ve seen Les Mis in the West End. I was absolutely spellbound and I’ve been obsessed with him ever since. I do love him as Enjolras too. Those pure high notes get me every time
The fact that Ramin seems to look right to the camera for as long as he does several times is so thrilling and I feel guilty (knowing how much he disapproves bootlegs) and delighted at the same time. Thank you so much for sharing!
That score just never gets old - still delivers chills. Funny you posted this as I was just listening to the newly released concert cast album. What a powerhouse of vocals on display here - if he’d been born 25 years earlier he’d have been the god of the mega musical. Thank you as always Spiderwoman!!!
I have seen this musical more then 25 times, mostly in London but also in NYC and Israel, where I live. For me, he is by far the best Valjean I have ever seen.
You have some amazing videos. Also, Ramin was fabulous in this role, and I am still mad about no cast album. Ramin, Cassie Levy, Will Swenson, Andy, Niki, Keala, Kyle. What a cast!!!
I was ONE DAY OFF with seeing Ramin. Don't get me wrong, the understudy was AMAZING, but I was so excited to see Ramin. I still had an amazing experience being front row center seat. I bawled
SPOILERS 0:01 I love how this song happens bc a man does him an unexpected kindness causing him to start a new life. Later, javert sings the same one after a man dies him an unexpected kindness causing him to end his life.
He's playing Phantom again in Italy in October and in Monte Carlo in December for limited engagements. I saw him in concert in February, and he is so enormously talented, yet such a humble and kind man.
oh man . . . . at first i thought this was footage from the west end and i got so so excited that you might have footage of hadley fraser in the show, too. :( :(
Sadly, the only video clip of Ramin and Hadley together as Valjean and Javert that exists on the internet is a short clip of The First Attack, around 1 minute and 22 seconds, shot from quite far away (no zoom-ins) and in small picture quality (360p).
Was this all filmed over the same performance? I don't recall Valjean getting a different wig as the mayor, or maybe its because its so obviously different in these clips.
Ugh. Really don't like this version of Master of the House. Too histrionic and screeching, the melody amd harmonies get lost, along with the subtlety that actually makes it funny. Bring back Alan Armstrong.
I agree it's so over the top, and his straight tones sound off-pitch to me. I've tried to like him, but I just can't. I saw the original production like 15 times, saw many Valjeans, Ramin isn't in my top ten.
The fact that this revival is like the ONE production of Les Miz that doesn’t have a cast album is a shame. It might be my favorite cast.
Exactly.
The revival fucking sucks. So there is that...

I refuse to believe he has no formal training. Just amazing
God creating Ramin: you get *Talent 100*

I still think Enjolras is his best part in Les Mis! Do you hear the people sing was made for him 😍
Ramin is simply phenomenal. My favorite Phantom ever and my favorite JVJ. I hope to be able to see him perform live someday.
I had an out-of-body experience when I saw this live.

I mean, an excuse for Ramin to rip open his shirt please
Yes, but if you'd been in prison for 19 years just for stealing a loaf of bread and had to wear such garb you'd probably want to them off!
Cliff Saunders and Ramin Karimloo: canadian legends
Thanks for this. I dutifully copied the name "Cliff Saunders" from the Playbill, but now see from your comment and from google that he's somebody.
AAAH RAMIN 🫶 He’s so skilled it’s amazing
I know he 's not doing it anymore, but I would give almost anything to see Ramin as either Valjean or Phantom again
He's playing Phantom again in Italy in October and in Monte Carlo in December for limited engagements. I saw him in concert in February, and he is so enormously talented, yet such a humble and kind man.
So that's where we've seen Keala Settle before she was in The Greatest Showman
Ramin Karimloo.... I wait for a project where he sings ALL parts... why? because he can! and with all.... I mean ALL! :-)
I got to see them in Broadway way back 2014 and they were all great and amazing

The things I'd give to see this live
Where in the world do you get so many bootlegs this high of quality?? I’ve been wondering forever!
Ohhhhh Spiderwoman. This was such a thrill! A thrill I say!!!
So glad you enjoyed!
Do you know the date of this performance, or have a link to the full show?
Ramin Karimloo as Jean Valjean is a dream x 3000
I. Love. This. REVIVALLLLLLLLL!!!!
i adore this dude

Yay! I’ve never seen this vid before

Is there somewhere to watch this whole one?
Keala is amazing!!
Intense!

How shallow of you! And the screencap I chose to promote this video is in no way meant as an advertisement for such base instincts.
He’s pretty perfect so... 😂
I came back for 6:59
do you have any more of the show in addition to this?
Excellent
Amazing
Was this all filmed over the same performance? I don't recall Valjean getting a different wig as the mayor, or maybe its because its so obviously different in these clips.
Yep, all from the same performance--a preview, I believe.
Maybe because Ramin is "a bit too young" to age him more through different wigs?
Well, damn, Ramin.
Awesome
Is the full show available with this cast?
so... who got the full show... i kinda need it... for research purposes.....
What is the black mark in the middle of his chest? I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in a production?
The prisoner’s mark.
do you have the full show?
What song was the first one?
2:38 no singing but voice
And the first revival didn't have one
Whoever picked the thumbnail, you know what you were doing.
Thank you, it was my pleasure.

The show is great, he is drivel. This is a Disney version, which suits him.

He's not good at this role because he is not good at acting while singing. Very fake. He was only good at fantastical melodrama like Phantom.
