i'm not really a kent fan but their songwriting is really good, i don't think they've ever disappointed their fans through a long career. they've got tons of classic hits too
Kent are responsible for one of the most overplayed song for weddings in Sweden, Utan Dina Andetag. I think a lot of people are very tired of the song, but it's definetly a classic.
Awesome reaction man! I haven't heard this song in a while and I had forgotten how much I enjoy it. Great fun to reacquaint myself with a classic together with you who discover it for the first time. Makes me smile to see you like it too.
Kent is for me a combination of insanely good lyrics and excellent sound. I find it interesting that they got so big in Sweden that you basically could not sell more records. They tried to make it in English, my wife actually saw them in the UK in 1998 but it seems the lyrics would not translate well so it kind of did not work out. I keep saying they are candidates for the Polar Prize award just for the lyrics alone. I would definately recommend "Mannen i den vita hatten"

Kent failing to have an international career just goes to show how difficult it still is for non-native speakers to break through. It most likely was either their record label not going all in, or they themselves. In particular, it’s well publicized that Jocke Berg was extremely uncomfortable with being a public figure, so I’m going to guess that they didn’t really want it that much. Also he does have a rather thick Swedish accent when singing in English. I know, others have had that too and still succeeded, but I don’t think it helped. Not for the genre they operated in.
I normally don't listen to Kent, like at all. But this entire album is an exception. It's an exceptionally good album! Take a look at the closing track "Sverige", it's a very beautiful song.
Haha awesome reaction! For more kent I would recommend ”Kräm (Så nära får ingen gå)”, ”Kevlarsjäl” or basically anything from ”Du & jag döden” Love your videos! Keep it up 🤘😎
Really enjoy your channel mate, it's super interesting to get your point of view on all these Swedish classics,. Kent is my favourite Swedish band ever. My whole youth and early adult life pretty much revolved around them and it broke my heart when they decided to end their career.

If you wanna hear some early Kent, I'd even go as far as their first (self titled) album. There's some killer bass lines and in that album. It still holds up as one of their best. Another favorite of mine is "Du och jag döden", highlighting their more melancholic side (though still a solid rock album). They've always had that killer combo of powerful yet catchy rock, and deeply poetic lyrics. The playfulness with the language in their lyrics is just *chef's kiss*
KENT KENT KENT! Vilken sorg när de lade ner! Jonathan du har en stor musikskatt att gräva i bland alla Kents låtar, några favoriter är ”Den döda vinkeln”, ”400 slag”, ”Utan dina andetag” och ”Gamla Ullevi”
Kent - Utan dina andetag is in my opinion one of their best songs and its from 1997..Its from their EP "Om du var här" And all songs on it is probably one of their top songs
This is my favorite band of all time. I even have a tattoo dedicated to my favorite song of theirs; Den vänstra stranden. I really hope you check it out cause it's so intense but chill and it's got some punch to it as well!
Fun fact : The "first person view" from the car is from an old illegaly recorded video called Getaway in Stockholm (1). The engine noise in the video is not from the Ferrari - it's from the actual 964 Turbo in the video.
Yes, listen to early Kent like "A heavenly drug" En himmelsk dråg. I like your channel! You are very good in swedish! Luved here from 2014 and already can understand swedish songs! I must say im imptessed man!
Thanks for commenting on ’Dom Andra’. Kent’s lyrics can be hard to grasp even for native listeners in Sweden. My interpretation of the lyrics is that it’s about realising that despite all your good intentions to stay true to your ideals and change things around you, you have become like the ones that stand for the things you were trying to change, because you had to use their methods (like in the lines about fighting to be called an ”elite”, being a ”martyr” and to have ”spelat ut vår roll” (as in no longer relevant). As in striving to get rich and powerful to change society. That’s my take on it anyway. I may be in the minority, but would really like to see how you react to Kent’s early track ’Gravitation’. It’s a bit different compared to this, but I think you could appreciate it :)
You really should listen to the song "hockeyfrilla" or "ishockeyfrisyr" (same thing) by the swedish group .DLK. De Lyckliga Kompisarna... thats a classic. Watch the video as well. A lot of speed in that group 👍
I love the lyrics to this song and I couldn't find another comment that had translated it for you, but you might have checked the lyrics already but here it is anyways: A lonely woman looks for a man. A reply to "The heart speaks truth." A pessimist in it's life form. I'm airing blood, it smells like sadness. An aliens love thirst. The wonder of who betrayed who first. Eat fat and sugar until you throw up or become a four ton martyr. Sell yourself, sell yourself expensively. (whistle) Come borrow this thorn crown of mine. Suffer for the art or burn. I fight and keep my body warm. A dream of mom's tender embrace. An aliens love thirst. The wonder of who betrayed who first. I will gladly become a martyr, we probably need a new one. Sell yourself, sell yourself expensively. (whistle) A middle finger to death. We walked on top of corpses and advertised our love, our rich inner lives. But the tickets to heaven were sold out when we arrived and the price we have paid to be classified as elites were that we became like the others We became like the others. We became like the others. And we can't get any further. We're back at step zero. But nobody's going to grieve, We have played to our roles. We forget all of this shit. It doesn't mean anything. We should have gotten further, But we weren't enough. We became like the others. We became like the others. We became like the others.

Ted Gärdestad - Satellit (He jammed with Toto at the time aswell with the guitarist and composer Janne Schaffer, really interesting story. Guess wich song was inspired of wich ;) You should listen and see if you can figure out wich song by Toto, would be interesting.)
Yes, Kent sounds little like Muse. I have never thought about it but now when you mention it. Muse is great. I know Jocke Berg in Kent have said that one inspiration is Depeche mode. I think?

Funny how you should mention Muse in the video as well. If you'd ask me, Muse, Kent and the finnish band Him made out all the niches of rock music from the mid 1990s - early 2000s. A golden triangle for the time if you would.
