That's the trouble with basing a mystical system on Buddhism. Once Qui-Gon and Kenobi started ignoring the code it all fell apart in short order.

@vhelixx that's not what happened in the movies. They didn't want to let Anakin in because he was too old, and therefore had too much of a connection with his mother. This was proven correct when his mother died and he gave in to the dark side because of it. They had a rule against marriage because it builds too much emotional connection. This rule was proven correct when Anakin's marriage led him to Sidious in order to save his wife. So the Jedi code was proven correct because Anakin turned to the dark side because he did not obey the code.
I don't believe Obi-Wan completely trusted the Council's interpretation of the code considering the many times he violated it while remaining firm in the light. Anakin's turn was inevitable once Qui-Gon died.

Obi-Wan loved Satine, and knew that informing the Council would make him a hypocrite and, he thought Padmè would be a balancing counter to keeping him on the side of good. Anakin never made clear to Obi-Wan his fear from his visions.
“You were my brother Anakin! I loved you.” That line, the emotions behind it and knowing how he helped hide Anakin’s secret relationship with Padme further deepens the pain he felt from the betrayal. He was willing to hide this from the order even though he was on the council because he cared for Anakin.
Let's remember both Obi-Wan and Qi Gong Jin also faced serious personal relationship challenges and were able to overcome those. I believe that first person experience with the same struggle, together with love and commitment to Anakin led to Obi-Wan's decision.

Obi-Wan's greatest mistake was not teaching Anakin how to have healty attachments. After all as we've learned from the likes of Bastila Shan, Revan, Nomi Sunrider, and (Legends) Luke Skywalker; love is the truest, purest expression of the Light Side. The complete rejection of attachment and love is completely antithetical to the Light Side, and one of the greatest misteps of the Jedi Order.

If Anakin was expelled by that point, he probably would have fallen anyways. The darkness was already well on its way in him, and Sidious would have picked him up that much sooner. All those years of seasoning already.

Obi-Wan always had his own agenda , and I don't think that protecting Anakin was part of it . #5. The jedi council talked about removing the Supreme Chancellor by force and seizing control of the Senate long before they knew that Palpatine was Sidious .
