About John 13:34, A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. Ok,I love to obey God dearly, but I didn't want to love my ex-husband is an alcoholic and manipulated me without my knowledge. I feel sorry for his first ex-wife the worse ever, also 3rd ex-wife or partner than me. We all are deaf, he was not born deaf, He became deaf when age 1 year old more or less. (Deuteronomy 28:43-48) But I do forgive him. I know God want to love me, unless I love him first then myself. It sick to my stomach. How can I love him for what ex-husband has done to us? I know I need heal myself.
I understand what you are saying about your former husband and I am sorry that he hurt you so much. The Bible teaches that we are to love our neighbors and even enemies, but, of course, it is not the same as spouses love each other. Say if you saw him being injured in a car accident and no one is there to help him except you. What would you do? Leaving him and hoping he would die? I think you got my point. If you are a child of God, you would go and save his life. You would obey the second greatest commandment that is to love our neighbors. The commandment in John 13:34 is not entirely the same as loving the neighbors because it is about agape which is love for brothers and sisters.

As I learned something else, if you don't forgive and love the person, then I can't heal myself. Forgive and love the person, then I heal myself, but that person is not healed. That makes sense to me. Am i right?
