Almost exactly what I said a couple of weeks ago on our show...I got some push back but, in my opinion, as soon as the card is pulled and Topps knows about it they should have given an announcement.
Topps had already sold the majority of their boxes way before this card was ever going to be pulled. They don't need to keep that card hidden to sell products. People will cry & complain & speculate no matter what they do.
@LuisMartinez-sz8eh Because I know how allocations work. Topps are manufacturers & they sell the majority of their products at wholesale way before they've even been printed. They keep a small amount & sell it on their site at SRP until they sell out. Everything else is distributed to retailers.
@coreywilkinson2778 once again your just speculating like everyone else. A company holding that Information to sell more boxes seems like a smart business decision and wouldn't put it passed them. So what's your issue?
@LuisMartinez-sz8eh A multi-billion dollar manufacturer doesn't need to hide anything to sell products that are already sold before they are ever printed. They have absolutely nothing to gain by doing it. Topps sold out of its personal inventory inventory within hours after releasing them for sale on the site & they don't keep posting more. Topps doesn't own any of these retailers & they don't have any control over what they do with those products or their prices after they've been sold & distributed. That isn't speculative, it's a fact. Anyway, feel free to believe whatever conspiracy theories you want, everyone else does.
Why is Topps obligated to announce when a card has been hit? It seems like it would be a disservice to the company to announce something like that because people would then stop going after the Chase card and the company could lose money. I know business is business, but in this case, it would be bad business for themto come out right away.
the Fanatics owner guy seems like one of the greasiest people.. I watched some interview with him and was like "oh no". That guy couldn't care less about his products. Not debatable
sorry but this whole saga of million dollar 1 of 1 rookie cards is a joke. Back in the day when there was competition between companies, autographs were rare, getting a star autograph which might have been out of hundreds of boxes, they might have been worth $2000 at most. If I am going to buy slabbed cards how about an 84 Star Jordan PSA 9, 1951 Bowman Mantle psa 9 or 10
I am concerned about Topps/Fanatics monopolizing the hobby. They have all the major sports and recently acquired the Marvel IP from Upper Deck that spent years building the following. Upper Deck has NHL left, I am not sure how they will compete with just that and an unestablished DC IP. Now it seems they are aggressively pursuing the auctioning arm of the business. I am not a huge Goldin fan, but he is correct. It is unfair competition that they have redemption cards like this Skenes debut patch and get a chance to approach the customer before any other auction house even knew it was pulled. It reminds me of Microsoft and Internet Explorer back in the day.
I enjoy your content and agree with you most of the time. I think in this case there is way to much thought put into a simple situation. I understand making content but here we are just fishing for a story.
😂whoever pays a million bucks for a pitcher is legit insane. Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard, Madbum, Jake Arrieta, David Price, Joba Chamberlain, the list goes on and on of good pitchers whos cards were at the top of the pile at one point, now nobody cares about them. As far as baseball goes, nothing is as risky as a pitcher. Unless its somebody laundering money.
I just wish Fanatics / Topps would put out a statement that they are aware of the "mistake" they made in not notifying the "hobby" asap that the card was unearthed and they would do a better job in the future. That's it. I didn't pull it nor did I purchase any product chasing the card. Thanks for presenting your take on the situation. 👍👍
It's unregulated gambling. You take your chances. I hate this part of the so called hobby. As far as Ken Goldin being upset, he sure acts like has all the money in the world so why give him more.

How do you know that? Your basing this on what? Do you know how many boxes were printed? Do you know how much were sold?

@@coreywilkinson2778 To add on the amount of patches already pulled tells us the majority were not just sold but already opened too.

Collectors can create burner X accounts and post their lottery pulls to alert other collectors.

They didn't announce right away because their henchmen aka the breakers still had so many boxes to sell.
Fanatics botching something???? No!!!!! I thought Fanatics was gunna save this hobby??????

:)
It was a redemption. Topps should have released it was pulled when the redemption was claimed.
They had no problem letting everyone know right away that ohtani 50/50 was pulled and the fun face Holliday
