Thank you for video SCD! Awesome Pele jersey!! My team met Pele at a tournament we were in at Joplin, Missouri way back in 1988. In this part of the world even in 2025 he is still about the only name a lot of people know in soccer. Super famous player and a great piece to pass on to the kids!! Well done on that score! I see this deal as a LeBron influnced trade. Pushing for a title this year. If they win the title? LeBron retires. Luka will help the Lakers cause. But they will definitely be in the market for the future face of their franchise. If they win the championship this year and Luka's cards see a healthy jump? Unless you enjoy collecting Luka, I would sell at that point. I don't see any other future opportunity for Luka to climb minus possibly making it into the Hall of Fame. And that possibility will rise if the Lakers pull of a title this year.

@@TheBargainBoxer Honest question. I haven't had a single card graded since getting back into collecting. It wasn't a thing back in my day. So I am just checking it all out and taking it all in. Will you please elaborate on why you see it as a scam? Appreciate it 👍😎
@ Grading is subjective. PSA grades over 1.2 million a month (yes, you read that correctly). There are 1,700 PSA graders worldwide. That’s 3 seconds to grade every card. I’ve been in this hobby than most (50 years) and cards get graded wrong consistently. It is like a slot machine. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. If you are looking to add value to your card, grade it. Your cards--Your choice. Go into it with low expectations. Don’t expect 10’s. PSA has to control the population count of those cards to keep values high enough for people to continue sending in cards. It’s a scam. I could go on and on, but I digress because this is Dustin’s channel and he probably doesn’t want me to bash his money maker…….
@TheBargainBoxer Thank you man! I was cool when we just looked the card over, came to an agreement and was good. Appreciate you taking the time to answer. Besides encapsulating the card for all eternity and supposedly helping with counterfeits (Which I've seen isn't always the case). Why did we ever need someone else to tell us if our cards are in mint condition or not? I definitely want to be respectful here and appreciate SCD. After all I wouldn't have been here to pick your brain without him. Wish I could hear your full take on this. That's the best way I learn. By being respectful of others experiences. 50 years of experience is awesome!!! I'm a bit of a caveman with social media and such. So please forgive me for not knowing how to reach out in possibly a more fitting manner that may require a more engaged discussion. Again, appreciate you man and thank you for passing on very helpful insight 😁👍👍😎✌️
PSA IS GRADING TOO HARD NOW
Just like everyone, i was stunned by the trade. But i’m going to play devil’s advocate and look at it from the Mavs perspective.
First, Luka is a top 5 player in the game so they were never going to get equal value. They could have traded him for picks, and you go into full rebuild mode. Or you get a 31 year old AD to play with Kyrie and you have a 2-3 year window to win the championship.
Why did the Mavs trade Luka? First, he is a defensive liability and was exploited by the Celtics in the Finals last year. If you look at all the great players that won multiple titles like Kobe, LeBron and MJ, they were all defensive first team players too. If you look at the Warriors title runs, Draymond and Thompson were great defenders. Even KD is a great defender too. Luka is a net loss on the defensive end.
Conditioning with Luka worries me as that could cut his career short. Did MJ, Kobe or LeBron ever have conditioning problems?
He was set to be a free agent next year and the Mavs would have had to pay him 5 years, 345 million. Did they want to commit that $$$ to a player they deem is not serious about getting in shape every year?
In saying that, i wouldn’t have traded because he will sell tickets for the Mavs simply because he’s a top 5 player. But part of me understands they are worried about this guy long-term. I’m a Sixers fan and we are locked into Embiid for 4 more years. How is that working out for us this year?
AD and Kyrie is not enough to beat the Celtics. They should've blown the team up and gotten 5+ FRP in exchange for Luka.

I would never claim to have a brain 🧠. Point well taken 😁👍 Just simply on the surface and given the history of the NBA. The Laker franchise is quite possibly the NBA's most famous club. Just on that merit, I believe is where the spike is coming from. I agree with your point. It's not performance driven. It's more fame and celebrity driven.
