- The Boynton Beach Police Department has pledged to hire more women. WPTV's Miranda Christian speaks with the department's female deputy chief and five other women who are already making a difference.
It's pretty short sighted to do this. Women don't apply to police departments generally because law enforcement does not appeal to them, it appeals to a very small number of women. When you artificially try to boost a demographic into a position that historically isn't a popular career choice for them you inherently will lower the standards whether that's in the interview, psych exam, FTO, physical testing, or training scenarios to try and obtain the inflated benchmark.
How about we simply hire the most qualified no matter which of the two genders they are or what race someone happens to be, for that matter?
When we start talking quotas, we see standards being lowered. Not good.
100% agree. Best candidate - I don’t care what gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc….
If more women apply and qualify, sure you'll see more.
In any occupation
Don't just hire cause they're female....
Love a woman in uniform
