@@nicsandnacs It was so awesome! Living in Georgia so much stuff films around here now. Just this week in my hometown they started filming the Hawkeye series. I would love to be an extra in a Marvel project
What's really clever of the score they use when Katniss sees Peeta behind the glass in the end is that it was used in the first Hunger Games film, called "Searching for Peeta". In the end of Mockingjay Part 1, the parallelism with this score shows that Katniss is searching for the Peeta that she once knew in the tracker jacker-induced person in front of her. So powerful.
It's kind of surprising The Hunger Games franchise made as much as it did, considering how dark the material is. It's the opposite of feel good entertainment, violent and skeptical of government. And the funniest thing is that the movies left out even more awful stuff!
18:23 YES!! that scene of peeta talking is incredibly powerful. gets me every single time. Josh Hutcherson is one of the best actors on the franchise, so underrated. He's the literal embodiment of Peeta. Hell, he was born to play Peeta. it's one of my favorite scenes in this movie. loved the reaction!
Peeta: I don’t want them to change me. I just wish there was a way I could show them I’m not just a piece in their game. If I’m gonna die, I want to die as me. Capitol: 22:49
I felt so validated watching this. I’ve never liked Gale since reading the first book. And I never understood why there was any debate over who Katniss should have ended up with or how anyone could even prefer Gale over Peeta. It’s nice to see someone else hate Gale as much as I do.
I feel a bit alone in not hating Gale, haha! I'm not a huge fan of his, but I do think his character was a very interesting one to have as a juxtaposition to Katniss, Peeta, and the survivors, because he was like the embodiment of what people who'd never been in the games, or gone through those types of things think. Gale was also the oldest in his family, and had the responsibility of taking care of his family and Katniss' when she was gone, plus working in the same mines that killed his and Katniss' father. Like he became the hardneded person by circumstance and wanted to do all he could to better the situation for those he loved (and he was willing to sacrifice everyone else for them, which ended up costing him everything in the end). Part of his character felt more like "exposition", like when he said he'd never do what Peeta did if he was the one tortured, which most probably comes from the fact that he was immediately involved in the military upon arrival, and spent most of his time with other military personnel and district 13 people, who harbored this hatred for Peeta for betraying the rebellion, plus the romanticized notion young people/men have of themselves and nobility, not willing to admit fallibility or humanity. Also the machoism that young men can fall prey to. When he jumped into the interview in district 12 in the books it's portrayed as this moment when the rebellion no longer is about just Katniss, but shows that it is this huge revolution that is founded in stories and lives of everyone in Panem, and that is what makes the book and movie so powerful (like the forest scene, the dam being broken, Finnick's propo), it is the humanization and connection that bridges a fabricated gap between districts to segregate them and keep them apart so this cannot happen. Through the humainized stories of the people who experienced a thing, and their firsthand account, the rebellion was ideologically strengthened. When he jumped in there it wasn't a "I'm not gonna let Katniss speak," but him recognizing that she didn't have the words to speak, and he had the strength to in that moment. One of the reasons I like his character is how flawed he is, and kind of unapologetically so and not romanticized by the author, director, or actor. Honestly, overall... all the characters in the series are wonderfully created with flaws, and a lot of them big massive flaws that just *mwah* adds the cherry on top
Also Gale was an eye witness to the attacks. Much of it Katniss can only speak of through her relationship with others, what others told her happened. Gale can voice it as an eye witness. I didn’t hate Gale, I hated what he finally had a hand in. But the situation as written made sense to me. He was farther along in his emotions than Katniss was. It would have likely been the natural progression of her emotions had the Hunger Games not interrupted the time they spent together. We no more clearly in the book that was not the case, but that is not the character development in the movies. His emotions were very human. The Capitol was stealing everything he loved from him in slow motion. They stole his chance to express how he felt about her, to her on his own terms. One minute it was a given that they would likely see each other on the daily, so he had time to build up the nerve to tell her how he felt. Suddenly there is constant rush, threat of her death, and another person who loves her thrown in the mix.
The big elephant in the room with this film is that Phillip Seymour Hoffman died before filming all his scenes. It's actually quite remarkable how complete Plutarch's role feels under the circumstances, much like Oliver Reed in Gladiator.
This franchise is one of the defining franchises that kind of prepared me from adolescent to adulthood and understand themes of morality and politics that make me see hope in a new light. Every time I do a rewatch, I always listen to the credits of Mockingjay Part 2 because Katniss sings the lullaby like in the book and it's all full-circle. I don't feel like the experience is complete without "Deep in the Meadow".
Peeta is selfless and willing to do anything to help Katniss survive. He doesn't put up with her sh*te and he is always comforting her when she is unraveling. He understands her because he has also gone through it. It takes the capital torturing him emotionally and physically, altering his memories to make him despise and harm Katniss. Then there is Gale. 😒 lol There is no comparison.
Then there's Gale. He has been with Katniss from the beginning. Both of them are so used to each other that they don't even need words sometimes to create plans and actions. He promised and fulfilled his promise of taking care of her family while she was gone. Despite the poverty, he wanted to escape with her and start a life together. But then they started drifted apart. They couldn't understand each other since Gale was there when District 12 was destroyed and he saw everyone's death while Katniss wasn't there. She didn't go through the hell Gale did since she had a different form of hell (the games). Katniss and Peeta's hell made them realize who the real enemies were. Gale's hell made him a Solider.
@@pdas4182 I do get that. I just thought that is what a friend would do, since they grew up together and had always looked after one another and their families. It's just my opinion. Lol
I love this video, I never realized how much the books explain that the movies dont. Also, I don't hate Gale, but I can't stand him either. It is so cool to watch him go from a perfect mirror of Katniss in her head to her foil. She learned who the real enemy was but Gale never got the chance to see everything Katniss did so he never learned. But I wish we got a better resolution for him than we did, other than a two-line apology.

The action is great, the characters are great and you cant go wrong with the Tom Cruise and McQuarrie combination. Im sure you'll really enjoy it! 2. Dredd (2012) starring Karl Urban. He also directed this movie although he wasnt credited for it. Excellent movie, really brutal action packed. A real tight story, real tension. The violence is brutal but the movie is fantastic - Im sure you'll REALLY enjoy it. Thanks so much again and I hope you keep making these videos, theyre really enjoyable to watch!
I already hated watching Katniss and Gale kiss because eww lol. But then I watched an interview with Liam Hemsworth where he talks about not liking to kiss JLaw because she would always tell him when they were getting ready to shoot a kissing scene she'd eaten onions or garlic or tuna for lunch and didn't brush her teeth lol. That's all I think about now when I watch them kiss LOL. All I can say is it's a good thing they agood friends because that's so gross 🤢! I love the Mockingjay movies and they already cut so much of the book out, it would've been terrible and rushed if they did it in one movie.
The problem with Gale isn't Gale, it's the YA love triangle trope that is done to death to create drama and tension. And the issue with it is the author never intends for a real honest hard choice between the two, they have their pick and get you to love that pick while the third wheel is given the shaft so when they're not picked, you are for it. Just look at Jacob from Twilight for example. Hunger Games would of been better without Gale. Or have him there strictly as a friend and ally. People don't have to be romantic just because they're young and the opposite sex, lol. You'd think YA stuff have enough drama and tension given they often are distopias/magical but nope, you need a third wheel or else it will be boring. 😂
for me, the pacing in this movie is not really a problem because i like to see this more political movie on the franchise, you know? if they hadn't divided this book into 2 movies, we would lose a lot of this diving into the dynamics of the district 13 and the last movie (if there was only 3 of them) would be mostly about the war
i’m not sure if you take requests or not, but if you do could you please react to The United States vs Billie Holiday? it just came out and it’s soooo good :))))
Mmh I disagree. I think Peeta is a really interesting character and I always wish we've gotten more info on his life pre HG, his family dynamics and how he dealt with trauma before and after the games. I don't blame the author for focusing on Katniss, she's our protagonist and we see the world through her eyes; but just like Finnick and Johanna had so much potential to explore as characters, I feel like Peeta's depth and potential is left unexploited too. If you think about it, we don't know that much about him.
What's a movie/franchise that defined your teenage years?

It's color not colour when describing the color of things. It's colour hen addressing a concept
Oh man I just re-watched all 4 Hunger Games films as well!
you should watch wandavision
Watching it every week ☺️ Can’t wait for the finale!
@@nicsandnacs nice
Amazing video gorgeous loved it so much and love you to
for me, the pacing in this movie is not really a problem because i like to see this more political movie on the franchise, you know? if they hadn't divided this book into 2 movies, we would lose a lot of this diving into the dynamics of the district 13 and the last movie (if there was only 3 of them) would be mostly about the war
i’m not sure if you take requests or not, but if you do could you please react to The United States vs Billie Holiday? it just came out and it’s soooo good :))))
Your next movie should be "Good Will Hunting".
Yaaaaas
Where's Charlie :)
3:05, in the background, RIP, Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
6:10, good reference! BvS!

Are you excited for 1899, the next show coming from the creators of DARK
So excited!!!!
Natalie 🥺 that's all. Just her. On my screen. With that look 🤌🏻
Mahirshala Ali! He was in Moonlight.
Among other things
FINNICK AND JOHANNA >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> KATNISS AND PEETA
JUST SAYING
Yep! No debate whatsoever 😂
14:18, indeed it does.
Northern, Southern hemispheres. Really?
9:11, lol!
2:36, hey, Mahershala Ali!!
11:25, that's crazy!😱
Sorry, but in my opinion it was to much rage against Gale and too few reactions due to the plot of the film.
I'm so early
I know Gale is a prick, but Peeta is such a nothing character in the movies. J-Law is too good for both of them!
This one was so boring 🙄
