Paul, you are seriously one of the nicest guys in the industry and it's really refreshing. Just doing what you love. No drama, no hate between artists, not afraid to share knowledge. Seriously wish other artists would take after you.
Dear god, Paul, the tunes in the background here made me fall in love with your music just like the first time i heard it on soundclick! It has that dreamy athmospheric sound that i love in your stuff, and the groove and the feels! Also, the way you say the "P" in "Paul" is really nice and soft and gentle. That's probably exactly as creepy as it sounds.
No re-amp box needed. The IRT *is* the re-amp box :) Everything is sent over USB, except the tone I monitor with, which could go out to a speaker cab or a PA with the cab sim turned on. I believe on a Mac you could probably use multiple interfaces and record/monitor through software with an ASIO device, while recording/re-amping the dry/pre signal over USB. Sadly I don't own a Mac so I have no way of testing that out.
A big thank you Paul! Even though I don't have plans on re-amping, or have the right project to try it, I learned a lot from this video! I still try to get a grasp on so many things in music production, and this was one of them :) thanks. Lately I try to get involved in synth more. Basically my goal is to get some really nice dreamy, atmospheric sounds, like the ones you have goining on in your music. I would be thrilled if you could mayby do a tutorial on that topic someday?! :-) cheers
Sounds great, but I noticed a LOT of noise when using the reamp functionality. Is that because the level coming from Cubase wasn't properly set and the amp's gain had to be boosted to compensate? Or does the impedance matching just not work as well as it should?
Is there some stuff in here that I heard in a sampler you put out (I think) on soundclick a few years ago? Surprised I don't hear that stuff more often. I hope some of it ends up being new material ever! :D
Cool video! Anxiously awaiting part 2 :) Might pick one of these up, but still waiting to read more reviews. Maybe it's an odd question, but does the unit get very hot? The manual says you need to leave one space under and above the unit empty because of the heat.
The DI could go to a mixer and into a PA (along with your laptop) or it could go into a real cabinet. In my case, it's actually going to a second computer through impulse responses *but* that's only because I had to be able to record the output of everything for the purposes of the video. You wouldn't need to do that :)
I don't get one thing, The dry guitar comes from the USB and the full tone from th DI ? After the recording, the bus is sent through the "Re-amped" Input, guitar unpluged. So, when the tone is found, you have to re-record the track, via speaker or mic isn't it ??
Hi Paul! I've borrowed a IRT over the weekend but I can't hear anything. I have Cubase 5 and a M-Audio Fast track 2 USB soundcard. I downloaded the ASIO-drivers in the description. But how do I monotoring the sound from the FT-2! I got a signal in to cubase. Unfortunately I don't have a mixer at home. Just the IRT plugged via USB directly into the Pc. Maybe that doesn't work!?
Does anybody tried this with Ableton Live ? It seems that it's not possible to get both soundcard and USB signal...When configuring audio, you can only choose between Asio4all or the soundcard (scarlett 2i2 in my case).
Thanks for this video. Unfortunately I am a mac user and I'm getting no signal (USB connection only using Cubase AI for Mac). Also, there is no ASIO4all available for mac. Can you recommend a website, a tutorial or anything else that would help me to work with this amp? Thanks a lot!
Siavauch Saleki I am using this amp on Logic Pro X. I did not do anything, just plug my guitar into the amp, the amp to the mac, change the imput settings, create a new stereo track and that´s it
Paul I have cubase 5 with a motu soundcard with its own drivers and many projects recorded and playing back through the moto Do I still need the Asio 4 all drivers for the Laney Ironheart to re amp and record through usb as well If so I dont understand how to keep my settings on the Motu for all my audio.. Can you cast any light on this for me.Thank you
+noobker HD PRO ONLY good for clean & fx processing unit. Don't buy it if you want to use it as your main guitar tone. The shitty tone from the POD will give you endless suffering. I used POD HD as for main sound before, man, I need to waste countless hours post EQing the tone to fit in the mix. Plus POD HD is really lacking in clarity unlike tube amp. On top of that the cabinet simulation is really bad , making your tone WEIRD for most mixes.
How would irt studio stand against an amp head with DI (e.g. bassbreaker 15) for home recording? Other than it saves space, what else? Any thoughts mate? cheers
Hi, im a noob when it comes to PC related guitar stuff, I do have guitar rig, however my rig kontrol is broke, I am looking to use guitar rig just for fx, if I got the IRT how would I go about using it for the amp tones and guitar rig for fx without using the rig kontrol?
Nice video, thanks forma The knowhow!!!. I have a question, How can récord. With irt And pod hd pro, using Both? Its posible doing by usb or you need other interface or mic??? Thanks Best regards from chile
hey buddy how do you get live monitoring to work on this? I'm using it without the cab(using headphones instead) just USB into pc into cubase 7 I can hear the metronome and drum track but not my guitar tone, only after recording and I play back do I hear my guitar tone, is there a way around this issue?
Paul, you are seriously one of the nicest guys in the industry and it's really refreshing. Just doing what you love. No drama, no hate between artists, not afraid to share knowledge. Seriously wish other artists would take after you.
Really looking forward to part 2 where you integrate this with you pod hd pro. Any idea when that'll be uploaded?

Both would be awesome.... I find most videos just bad or confusing on it and get the feeling you'd do a great job!
man, this is most excellent work! By far the most thorough vid of this unti to date, and reeeeeally pushing me towards the "buying edge" :)
A big thank you Paul!

Holy shit the stuff playing in the background sounds amazing, hope to hear it soon!
Sounds great, but I noticed a LOT of noise when using the reamp functionality. Is that because the level coming from Cubase wasn't properly set and the amp's gain had to be boosted to compensate? Or does the impedance matching just not work as well as it should?
I love the songs you chose for the background music.
Absolutely man. You mean how I personally sequence them? Or how to set up V-Drums?
Hey paul, Will you ever get around to making the second video?
Or maybe a video demonstrating the tones in a full song?
All the best!
Is there some stuff in here that I heard in a sampler you put out (I think) on soundclick a few years ago? Surprised I don't hear that stuff more often. I hope some of it ends up being new material ever! :D

Looking forward to the follow-up video!
0 dislikes, thats right. The music sounds awesome, can't wait for the next release.
Yeah my bad haha - on the DAW I used to monitor the whole session, I use 7. On my laptop, I only have a license for 5. Can't afford two upgrades ;)
great style, great playing and amp
yo soy de españa y me encanta CHIMP SPANNER!

Those are some killer leads.
Do both please!

awesome chord ! phrase n tone , ilike it
I've never realized that you made thorough tutorials on top of your Chimpspanner work. Ever thought about teaching or do you teach already?

Damn that is a tone!
awesome video
Hi Paul! What kind of Impulse Response are you using in this video? Where have you downloaded/bought them from? Thanks!

What were you playing at 3:36? It sounded great!
Does anybody tried this with Ableton Live ? It seems that it's not possible to get both soundcard and USB signal...When configuring audio, you can only choose between Asio4all or the soundcard (scarlett 2i2 in my case).
I don`t get it. I did everything like you did, everything works but when it comes to reamping there`s no any sound at all
What's the name of the song at minute 9:37?
thanks paul, very interesting video and useful indeed!
Thanks for this video. Unfortunately I am a mac user and I'm getting no signal (USB connection only using Cubase AI for Mac). Also, there is no ASIO4all available for mac.

Roberto Carlos Bautista sorry for my bad english
Is that riff at 3:35 part of anything that's been released? Sounds killer
Isn't this a PERIPHERY riff ?
Do I hear possible next album music?
Can you re-amp other amps using the IRT as the re-amping box?
so is it harmful for the amp when there's not load to a speaker and emulation off at the same time?
Paul I have cubase 5 with a motu soundcard with its own drivers and many projects recorded and playing back through the moto Do I still need the Asio 4 all drivers for the Laney Ironheart to re amp and record through usb as well
If so I dont understand how to keep my settings on the Motu for all my audio.. Can you cast any light on this for me.Thank you
I believe I have followed your instructions properly but I have no signal in Cubase and am at a loss. Are you able to help?
Hey man, Im torn between the IRT and the HD PRO. Would love some input to help me decide!
+noobker HD PRO ONLY good for clean & fx processing unit. Don't buy it if you want to use it as your main guitar tone. The shitty tone from the POD will give you endless suffering. Interested too !
can you record and reamp without a cab. there's a really nice guitar on sale I want I can afford it and the iron heart but not a cab
can I bypass the preamp and use the USB interface to play with amp sims?
How would irt studio stand against an amp head with DI (e.g. bassbreaker 15) for home recording? Other than it saves space, what else? Any thoughts mate? cheers
would you recomend asio4all??
Hi, im a noob when it comes to PC related guitar stuff, I do have guitar rig, however my rig kontrol is broke, I am looking to use guitar rig just for fx, if I got the IRT how would I go about using it for the amp tones and guitar rig for fx without using the rig kontrol?
Can this amp be used in a gig ? Or would you recommend the ironheart Laney IRT15H instead of this for live situations ? thanx in advance :)
Nice video, thanks forma The knowhow!!!. I have a question, How can récord. With irt And pod hd pro, using Both? Its posible doing by usb or you need other interface or mic??? Thanks Best regards from chile
Pudiste resolver el problema? Yo estoy intentando grabar solo con USB y mi programa no lo ve
hey buddy how do you get live monitoring to work on this? activate input monitoring on your guitartrack in cubase maybe ?
@Paul Ortiz can i run the XLR output without cab simulation to my usb audio interface?
CUBASE FTW
I hear some new stuff ^^
Why did you pull some of that stuff off soundclick? :(
Question, in case I have an external audio interface with xlr input...can I connect the DI output into interface and record like that?
Cubase 7? Yet in the video we can see Cubase 5? :D
BALLER
Where is the part 2?
thanks man! solved my problems :)
