I think the Dive Ball works like in the modern games: 3.5x when try to catch a Pokemon encountered in water, be it surfing, diving or fishing. That makes it really useful in those situations.
Thanks for the input, at the time I did research for the video I didn't find anything supporting that, but I tested it now, and it works on surfing but not on fishing. For example, I with a pull of 10 mons (this was just a quick test, but I think it proves your point): - surfing for tentacools, that have a base catch rate of 35.2% full HP, I got 9 out of 10 first ball with dive balls. - fishing for magikarp, that have a base catch rate of 43.9% full HP, I only got 4 out of 10 first ball with dive balls and needed 4 dive balls in some cases. So it improves the usage of dive balls to a "nice to have", in my opinion, just because they are still less versatile than net balls (that work on all mons that dive balls work) and more.
@@BeTheSnowPokeMMO Maybe the devs made it not work on fishing so the lure ball isn't completely useless. But it isn't completely nullified by the net ball since there are some non water mons you can find while surfing like the Dratini line.
That is true, I didn't mention that, and I also didn't mention the ditto farm strategies that also abuse netballs. From my point of view the netball would be good even without the Soak Smeargle or ditto farm, from all type bonus pokeballs, netballs are the one with more cases where they work, however without those strategies netballs would not be the second-best ball in the game (just because masterballs 100% catch rate).

Really helpful, didn't even knew all those pokeballs existed haha. And you even explained the usage of each. Amazing guide.
Great video! Really helpful info... will be referring back to this video for a LONG time :D

Great video
You forgot to mention the part about netball where people will just use Soak smeargle to abuse the catch rate of it which makes it so good
