  • It is officially the end of porcini season in Australia. We managed to find some impressive ones a few weeks ago and have put together a video with the last of our finds.
    In this video we also found some Hedgehog Fungus (Hydnum repandum) which usually only appears at the end of the mushroom season.
    It's sad to see the end of the porcini season, but like all goods things, it must come to an end at some point. Hopefully they will pop up again in summer this year.

    Hi, love your videos. Do you know which summer months the porcini show up?
    I'm around Canberra at the moment and I'm still picking saffron milk cap and slippery jacks in November.

      Hi there. Thanks for watching our videos. I have seen on Facebook that saffies are still around. We've actually found saffies in spring so if you wait a couple of months they'll come back.

      No, unfortunately the season is over. These porcinis were found a few weeks ago. Hopefully we can see some pop up in summer.

      Usually between May and August. But I have found them in the summer months.

    Hi, do they start popping up in spring or when it gets warmer in summer?

    • @FruitsOfLife001
      @FruitsOfLife001  Рік тому +1

      I've only found them in summer. Maybe they just need a little break to recover from Autumn.

      Hi Anna. It really depends on the amount of rain and cold snap nights. This season has been crazy with the saffies and slippery jacks due to the rain. Previously we found the porcini in Jan and Feb. Porcini essentially need rain, a cold snap and some sunshine to appear.
