Without even speaking this fragile, delicate language, the words fill my heart with sorrow and longing. I do not know the context in which this woman may be speaking, but I feel such yearning from these words.
esmindi The lyrics. Translation taken from the Ranarop CD booklet. Like flowers rising from the ground Like apples growing from the branch Is the folk song for man and maid But folk wisdom when it dies So let the tone flow from our hearts And let us sing and let us dream There is so much to bog us down The black things are banished as soon as we sing But give me the songs of the homeland, And let us sing in the ancient way And let us sing without books Singing by the book is so high and mighty
Like flowers rising from the ground; Like apples growing from the branch; Is the folk song for man and maid; But folk wisdom when it dies; So let the tone flow from our hearts; And let us sing and let us dream; There is so much to bog us down; The black things are banished as soon as we sing; But give me the songs of the homeland; And let us sing in the ancient way; And let us sing without books; Singing by the book is so high and mighty
It's "And let us sing without books, the note song is so wise". I don't know how you came to "singing by the book is migh and mighty" but that is not correct. This is not a christian song.
@@fjorgynsflower8469 Thank you for the clarification. The translation posted came from the booklet that was included with the Gjallarhorn CD. I saw another person's translation: "and let us sing without a book - the learned song is not for us." - where the inference is not on a 'holy book' per say, but rather 'any book' meaning written versus oral words.
So glad to have found this song again…after so many years. I fell in love with Norway because of this song. ❤️
i wake up every morning at twilight and watch the sunrise with my cup of coffee with song

One of my favorites from the Ranarop CD. Very flowing, very relaxing, drifts away....

Like flowers rising from the ground
Like apples growing from the branch
Is the folk song for man and maid
But folk wisdom when it dies
So let the tone flow from our hearts
And let us sing and let us dream
There is so much to bog us down
The black things are banished as soon as we sing
But give me the songs of the homeland,
And let us sing in the ancient way
And let us sing without books
Singing by the book is so high and mighty
Vacker sång från en underbar grupp
Like flowers rising from the ground;
Like apples growing from the branch;
Is the folk song for man and maid;
But folk wisdom when it dies;
So let the tone flow from our hearts;
And let us sing and let us dream;
There is so much to bog us down;
The black things are banished as soon as we sing;
But give me the songs of the homeland;
And let us sing in the ancient way;
And let us sing without books;
Singing by the book is so high and mighty
