I ship Beelzebub and Gabriel ironically because they get onto Crowley and Aziraphale for being friends and then turn around and act like a married couple.

I wasn't an Ineffable Bureaucracy shipper (though I now absolutely am; first thing I did after watching was "omg I need to make all the fan content for them possible" lol), but I had a crackship before that I was 100% sure would never happen, and that absolute utter joy you get when it ends up somehow happening... mwah. Nothing like it lmao
I can't help but think Gabriel saying "you can't just refuse to be who you are" and Adam doing it anyway is what made him realize he could choose Beelzebub over being an Archangel

@@gabeitch2694 because part of the reason they tried to kill Azi and Crowley in the first season was simply because they were seen hanging out together, and then in season 2 they’re shoved together as a canon ship after a year of hanging out and it’s all revealed within one sequence that takes at least 5 minutes meanwhile Aziraphale and Crowley are taking forever

@@IWriteGoodOmensFics Eh, I guess I can see that, but that's just because of Aziraphale and Crowley's characters. Neither of them realized what they were feeling, they were both in denial, and ESPECIALLY Aziraphale is more in the vein of "I'm an angel, he's a demon, so it's bad." We didn't get much on Beelzebub, but from what we saw of Gabriel in season one, he saw things as very black and white, unlike Aziraphale. So for him it was, "Oh. This person is important. I care more about that than this BS good vs evil shit."
It actually ended up happening because, when Neil Gaiman was watching the show before it was released, he saw that scene with them and was like, "Wait, why do I kind of ship this?" And then he remembered he had the power to make it happen and went for it. So idk I don't think Aziraphale and Crowley taking so damn long is a reason to hate these two as a pairing. In the end, it's because Beelzebub and Gabriel spent all their time in their respective turf, doing the same thing every damn day until they found something better. Aziraphale and Crowley have had much more complex lives, living around humans and having struggled with choosing sides for a long time. Different circumstances, different outcomes.

I’m upset about that too. Like I get why the old actor couldn’t come back but a new actor shouldn’t mean change every part of their personality

It’s possible that it was less a verbal tic (something that crops up in their speech no matter what) and more their “Serious Business Voice” (which they had plenty of reason to _not_ use for the duration of S2, from “I’m being subtle” to “This isn’t worth the stress, so I simply refuse to”).

I love their couplehood in S2. People on this thread seem to dislike it. I just thought the two S2 actors performed well enough to sell and were sweet together. Plus the world needs as much love as it can get.
It seems to me it’s the opposite, I see way more people like beelzabub and them in s2 than s1

That’s how all ships start, it’s a joke at first but sometimes it’s all it takes for someone to think “hmm maybe it could work… I think I will write a fanfic abut them just for the lols” and then it starts escalating and suddenly there is an entire community of serious shippers.

I actually thought this Beelzebub actress was dull. All she ever did was look bored, blank. She didn't even really sound angry. I get why she'd go with that quirk but that's like the only trait she had.
@@letolethe3344 see your point, but at the same time they didn't have much screen time to work with either. And the scenes in S" would have given them a chance to be more emotive perhaps. I know there was scheduling conflicts and that's why this actress couldn't come back and the s2 actress still did a really good portrayal
actually i enjoyed those two,even if it felt a bit too rushed and unexplored. maybe wanted to show that the war between heaven and hell its possible to come to an end but between aziraphael and crowley will be forever and ever an unsolved mystery..to be explored more hopefully,in s3 🤓

@@honinakecheta601 the actress playing them originally was busy with other project and was unable to resume the role, and to be honest I don’t blame the new actress for my dislike of Beelzebub in the second season, I feel like that was all the writings fault tbh

Honestly valid. The season 2 actor did an excellent job but they just didn’t have the same vibe, I know it’s a lot of pressure to live up to another actors expectations but I just feel like they didn’t even really have the same personality

Neil said on his tumblr that he heard about it and the more he thought the more he began to like the duo, and honestly I don’t think I would’ve hated it as much if they kept their personalities from season 1 but they didn’t. Both characters got a sudden personality change that really didn’t get an explanation. I mean yeah they fell in love but I feel like even then the personality change was too abrupt

I'm always annoyed at Ba'al being changed to a woman in several forms of media when you have Astarte right there as Ba'al wife and a badass hunter who later morphed into Athena and Ishtar. Why not just use her instead?

@IWriteGoodOmensFics Ba'al and Beezlebub are completely different theological entities historically, but christian canon often considers them to be the same person; mainly because any false 'idol' was equated to being Satan/Lucifer/Beezlebub, all names for the same character, but Ba'al and Satan never really had any connection. 💡
Neil Gaiman has stated that in Good Omens angels and demons don't have a fixed gender. We've seen Crowley for example in female form at least twice, and Michael is currently outwardly female. Gabriel and Beelzebub are therefore not restricted to male/female, but I hope they stay that way, because I loved Jon Hamm and Shelley Conn's portrayals. Gabriel in particular was the highlight of Good Omens 2 for me!
@@itscris01 More like Satan and Beelzebub have little to do with each other. Baal is a title. Beelzebub is the diabolized form of Baal Zebul. Other Baals are Baal Hadad, Baal Peor (diabolized as Belphegor), Baal Hammon, etc. Satan however is a purely Abrahamic term meaning accuser, prosecutor, adversary, etc.
- They were my fav part of the second season. The whole thing seemed like a bloggers fanfic with how they abandoned nuance and subtlety around Crowly and Aziraphales relationship, but there were some moments where it wasn't all about them suddenly despite being Ethereal beings simply masquerading as humans becoming hormonal friction love needing mortals that were entertaining to watch. Its just so on the nose fanservice with majority of the chars being rainbow representatives that you can for sure tell without knowing for sure that this was not based on the same authors material. A more condensed example of what happened to Game of Thrones.
