The collab we've been waiting for!
You can never go wrong with free goodies to play with....so for that, I say thank you. However, when will we get an update to the IIO interface? There is a lot of wasted space and features hidden behind buttons with no clear indication of what does what. I just would like to see this evolve in to something better from the team that I have purchased more libraries from than any other provider.
Ditto on both counts: love the generosity of the free Labs sounds, but the UI indeed is an amazing waste of space and the unlabeled buttons are a cardinal sin wrt UI design.
I think the interface is fine for the LABS stuff, as well as the Originals line. The real issue is that their higher-end libraries also use the same interface. BBCSO, Hans Zimmer Strings, Eric Whitacre Choir, Appassionata, and so many more, use it. Even their new flagship orchestra (the Abbey Road Orchestra, which has only just started to be released with the high and low percussion modules), uses it. It is unfortunately such a step back in usability and features compared to their Kontakt libraries. No sample purging, no round-robin editing (in the Kontakt libraries, if there is a round robin that you don't like, you can adjust its volume, tuning, or have it just skip over it entirely), and so much more is missing. It's not even multitimbral.
Features were supposed to be continually added over time, but it's been a few years now, and basically nothing. Abbey Road Orchestra got solo/mute switches for the mic signals, but even that simple addition hasn't filtered down to any other Spitfire player libraries. It really is a shame. I deal with it because I love the tone of the libraries I own, but it is just so frustrating that their older libraries have better usability and so many more features.
It looks pretty but it’s confusing. I don’t like it. I don’t think it’s the end of the world though. I’d rather have them spend time making cool new instruments rather than fiddling with UI. That’s just me tho.

How did they record this? Were they taking the voltages or is it just a sample set?A bunch of recorded samples fed into an AI model and then generated?

I believe Hainbach cancelled all his collaborations with Spitfire Audio, and SA Recordings, due to their recent transphobia issues.
Can LABS be played independently without a DAW?
No...there are free DAWs
There a few vst hosts i.e. software for running a vst without a full daw. I recommend tone2 nanohost as it is very minimalist and will run vst2 which labs is available as.
As a musical instrument its next to useless but as a sfx plugin its fab

Is the thing fixed yet where all of the sudden all your LABS libraries don't work anymore and you need to "repair" everything? Done this at least 7 times and it's a shame because even if it's free, there is only so much patience one can have before just going for another VST

really just want some blown out soulful and jazzy acoustic instruments horns, flutes etc...big gap in your range....the other companies make them a little cheesy i know spitfire would do it right
