No joke, the day after this was released (so, this past Saturday), I went to the "Movie Night" performance with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (AB, Canada). They had a choir, brought out a Celtic harpist and an Uilleann Pipes player, and played the end credits from Braveheart. Yeeaaahh.... it was SOOO good. And I literally thought the whole time, "...and now I have this instrument. For free." :) You guys are awesome. Thank you for everything you do and share for hobbyist orchestrators like me. It's a childhood dream come true.
What an AMAZING birthday present, as today is my birthday! I spent a reasonable amount of money for an uillean pipe library, but this one from LABS is SO MUCH BETTER... and FREE!! WooHoo!
This is astoundingly good, sounds so much better than might be expected. I had thought that this was an almost impossible instrument to reproduce so authentically but Spitfire have nailed it.
Love this! been obsessed with Séamus Ennis for a few years and i cant wait to get stuck into some ethereal irish folk. Would love to see a fretless gourd banjo/other old banjos implemented into labs! always sick to hear yous are doing stuff in glasgow cheers
awesome, thank you so much for all you do and for all the free sounds, many of which I use, hope you will have some free voices in the future, I purchased your epic choir originals.
This is amazing! How would you suggest writing a part that switches back and forth between different presets, like to throw in ornaments every so often? Would you just create one channel strip for each preset and switch back and forth? Is there a way to create a track stack and program in key switches/articulation maps or some such, for instance within Logic? Program a key switch or expression controller to change your keyboard's MIDI channel and have each preset respond to a separate channel? What is your personal workflow for that process? (I've actually had this question for a while about various LABS libraries)
Sounds great, I will have to dig in to see if I can get a realistic performance - I am missing tremolos, which are quite important for playing long notes.
I'm curious, is that the Pianobook Uilleann Pipes library resampled for LABS? It sounds a little different to my ear but that might just be the resampling process. Either way that makes it available to people who don't have the full version of Kontakt so full thumbs up from me, Uilleann pipes are a staple of writing celtic folk music
A really lovely instrument! As it's set up it seems to lend itself more to slow airs. But I would like to use it for faster tunes like jigs and reels. Is there a way to reduce the time it takes after a keys is pressed before an ornamentation kicks in?
Love the voice! One question, how are you playing multiple voices at once (during the regulator section)? Is there a way to layer different voices in the same track or run multiple tracks at the same time?
hi there DoctorBlues (great name!) - I record enabled 2 tracks at the same time, so I was playing 2 different patches simultaneously. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching, O
Hi, Im new to this. I downloaded Ulian Pipes, but Im not sure how to load it in Logic pro x on my mac. I have the BBC Orchestra which loads, Can anyone help please. Thanks
Unfortunately it sounds good in the Walkthrough, but once installed and played in the DAW the sounds are different, "short", with no sustain. Reported to Spitefire Audio support...
It would be nice to play in many different keys. Even if the presets differ somewhat, earing the same notes and phrases over and over makes me crazy. Sorry.
Great but the problem is when changing notes, it still sounds like you’re doing this on a keyboard rather than Uilleann pipes. The attack isn’t quite correct. Great effort though
Uilleann Pipes are NOT equal temperament! Microtonal support is critical for this kind of instrument. MTS-ESP is the open standard you must implement if you want to be taken seriously.
Best on out there is from Ilya Efimov, these don't sound natural, the fact that they used patches rather than articulations baffles me! come on spitfire..

Soooo good quality :) I would love to have the same for an accordion - that would be fantastic. For Mac Users there is no good free one unfortunately 🥲
Really digging the direction you are taking, with the foghorn, gaelic and now this!
Plus, Oliver did a great job presenting the product.

This is possibly one of the best instruments offered in the LABS series. Now, maybe we could get a HURDY GURDY using a similar approach to this??
yes please this
I think their might be a hardy gurdy in the piano book collection. I did try to check but the server was down 🫢
@@desoconnor7445 Thanks I’ll take a look!
A Library I always Needed but I could'nt find out with a good sound ! Great Job Spitfire Audio !
Keep doing walkthroughs, we love to see them all, thank you Labs!
Wow what a fitting library for June summer. Oliver is a great presenter. Please make more ethnic instruments like this. Very good job.
I was dubious listening to it at first, but when those bends came in I knew this was going to be a good one!
Thank you LABS! I really like these traditional Celtic instruments! :)
I can’t see me using it in my own compositions but my god this is superbly sampled and sounds fantastic! Bravo Labs team.
Stunningly stunning ..absolutely brilliant 🙏🏿🙏🎩✨🦄
Thank you for sharing such a rich heritage to the world
Sounds awesome. No idea what I will use it for, but that's the beauty of LABS
There's a scene of Celtic electronic and hip hop music forming and I think this is going to play a part in it's fruition. So happy this is a release!
Ahhhh! Been waiting for you all to recreate one of these or bagpipes. Very inspiring! 😊🙏🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶🎵🎶
Always happy to have another option for Uilleann pipes!
I'm trying this out today for sure! I love folk and world instruments!
already made a track with this in the back not great but its there
Thank you Spitfire LABS. I have an Uilleann pipes library I have used before and this one is so much better with all the subtle extras. Marvellous 👌
That is a fantastic sound, cannot believe that you are giving this away. Thankyou.
Great work. So glad you had the grace notes, Bends and tuning patches because the first one didn’tl sound realistic.. thanks team
Thank you! so much!! I am beyond thrilled and amazed! Been looking for pipes this good!
Great video Oliver this sounds really good, also love your short background information thanks
Love this! been obsessed with Séamus Ennis for a few years and i cant wait to get stuck into some ethereal irish folk.

always sick to hear yous are doing stuff in glasgow
cheers
I was so reluctant to pay for this musical instrument until I got it from LABS! THANK YOU SO MUCH, you are the best!
THIS IS FRIGGING FANTASTIC
Another amazing addition to the LABS Library
you saved my music school homework, I have to remake the soundtrack of Pixar's "Brave" animated movie, I will be using this for sure!
Great job. Tried several including iOS pipes but this is by far the best sounding I have heard. Downloading this ASAP!
awesome, thank you so much for all you do and for all the free sounds, many of which I use, hope you will have some free voices in the future, I purchased your epic choir originals.
It's great. Now we need a bodhran 🙏
I love this! I'm excited to see if I can make a usable setup with my EWI!
Seriously fantastic! 😃🙏❤️
Thanks y'all!
Excellent, thank you so much!!
You guys are amazing
Thank you

separate tracks for each sound, maybe?
This was exactly my question, thanks
Between Native Instrument's free Irish Harp, this, and Zero-G's Prometheus male vocal pack, I have some cool compositions to make!
Sounds great, I will have to dig in to see if I can get a realistic performance - I am missing tremolos, which are quite important for playing long notes.

Hi Jean-Loup, it's a new library not linked to a Pianobook release :)
@@LABS_ONLINE Ah ok cool, I know some Pianobook libraries did become LABS libraries in the past so I was wondering. Thanks for clarifying
yeah, I don't think I can get jiggy with Uilleann pipes but thank you Labs
Nice !

Thus makes me want a Labs Harmonium now. Maybe a Sufi style one.
What is the hardware mixer - controller you are using in video?
I so want to pitch this down
do it! they sound great pitched down
Are we still keeping track of how many times the logo appears in the videos???
LABS been real quiet since this dropped
i keep refreshing the page every month, it's been a while i wonder what happened to monthly labs
Time to update my free Logic Pro LABS template! :)
When will labs work with Ventura?
what's the name of the white midi controller he's using here?
never mind, it's a korg nano kontrol 2
👍 - _also_ for the YT algo! 😊
Why is the keyboard area so small? It makes this impossible to use in almost any project
I love this, perfect as I play Irish Fiddle, thank you Spitfire Audio.
God this is like Christmas.
But I'm a brat so.....
Spitfire, for my birthday can you make us all a solo fiddle LABS patch pleeeeaaaaaase
man it doesn't let me create an account for some reason
Where's Louis?
Link is a 404 page not found error
thanks for flagging! fixed now

Bend into the note would be more typical- nice instrument

Uilleann piper, here. Sorry, but this doesn’t sound right.
Yeah, it sounds like a farfisa organ
Some notes sound better than others. It’s not the worst effort in my view. It’s only an approximation.
@@johnmc3862 There are actual pipers who have made electronic pipes with MIDI connectivity that have made much better approximations than this.
my thoughts exactly
They blew it because ignorance of just intonation. It sounds like a cheesy wind organ because the tuning has been forced onto a grid.
dumbing down is even easier
Great but the problem is when changing notes, it still sounds like you’re doing this on a keyboard rather than Uilleann pipes. The attack isn’t quite correct. Great effort though

It would be an off-putting amount of money though, as the website says it needs the full version of Kontakt.
Thanks for the inspiration: ua-cam.com/video/i2Qti9HbbnI/v-deo.html
Wish I could use LABS and not feel shitty about it. Wish Spitffire would own up.
