Hello from Colombia, in your experience, an aluminum block or an AS 41 magnesium block is necessary for a stroker engine? Did you ever see that the block bench bearings are oversized in only 800 km of use?
Both types of block materials have been used successfully for stroker motors. If the crank bearings are pounded out after only 800km of use, and they fit perfectly when the engine was assembled, it sounds like something else is wrong, I would not blame that on the block.
QUESTION PLEASE /? if and i say if i had to little play with the cam thrust bearing and needed to take say 1thousands out is there a place where i can scotch brite or sand it out ? to get the tolerance needed ? thanks
I'd start thinning the herd by checking for cracks, fretting, wear in the lifter bores, use that paper slip test between the case halves, etc., then take what's left over to a reputable vw machine shop, let them tell you what each case needs, it's going to be situational.
Good info presented in a straightforward manner. Thanks.
great info. I am considering rebuilding my engine myself, and am trying to learn as much as possible before I begin.
thx mrabelonee for checking out the vw engine building videos.
I'm doing mine never owned one before now. Never HD it running yet. Got a basket case

I'm the guy with end play like that example :( hopefully thrustcut/line bore will fix..
Be sure and check the case for cracks and such before taking it to the machine shop.
@@DragRacingTV will do, thank you
