    Who knows how things may have turned out if Hindenburg had lived longer. Sure, he was in his 80's but he still was the nations favorite.

      @Facundo 1998 He hated Hitler, and appointed him chancellor only as a last resort, when he was convinced that the alternative was civil war.

      That's true. Had the insane conditions of the Versailles Treaty not been allowed, the world would never have had to suffer through this WWll. Considering that Germany didn't start WWl, it is amazing how they were held responsible and are still considered the instigator of a war they originally had nothing to do with. The stock market crash added to the problem and the way some (mainly French) troops were treating German civilians in public was a disgrace and fueled the hate that grew in Germany. But as they say "history is written by the victors". So true.

      It already did. Germany was founded on the 18.01.1871

      Germany is way older. Henry I was elected and crowned king of the Franks in 919. He is generally considered to be the founder of the medieval German state officially called Regnum Francorum orientalium.
      In 1871 the modern German nation state was founded.

    Geez is that Hindenburg a camera hog. All videos of Germany back then were soldiers marching and he butts in. Paul von, sometimes less is more.

      He was called the "Ersatz-Kaiser", that is, the substitute emperor - he basically filled Wilhelm II's old role in the military's eyes

    It maybe just my hearing, or the Music that's being blasted by my roommates. but It kind of sounds like the lyrics the crowd is singing goes like this: "Meow meow meow meow moew! Meoooooowwww meow meow meow meow MeOOOWww moWwwww meow meow MEOWWWWWW!"
