Keyboard Intro & stab reminded me of The Cure's Lets Go To Bed. This has a great 80's vibe with a 21st century lyric. Fantastic,
I agree. The androgynous vocals make it, along with the cool Cure-style keyboards, sounds so analogue and evocative.

this songs me so emotional, i used to listen to this one a lot a year ago, because it made me feel some kind of way. so many things have change, life have became tougher, people that are not part of my life anymore, new people, new challenges, a pandemic i couldn't have predicted, hobbies i don't like anymore, so many things i can't explain it

Jake, I gotta tell you something and it’s been brewing for a while now. Since I found Trip the Mains on a playlist Luke Steele made - it was the end of July in 2019, I had just gotten married to the wrong person in my life and a relative of mine had died in February of that year. I felt like I was living my life sleepwalking. Trip the Mains was the first song on that playlist and I listened to it for a whole month I think. It felt like a song that woke me up from my trance and I do not think I would have awakened like I had if it didn’t find me.
It’s hard to say what got me out of my trance, maybe it was the general vibe of the song, maybe I was trying to get back to myself in a way, but it felt like it lit the way. I ended up getting out of that relationship, every hard turn in my life after that I had Trip the Mains somewhere and I could just feel the strength of myself figuring it out. I just wanted to thank you for the sounds, the lyrics, and the art, it helped change everything for me I think.

It's so cool how Jake isn't as sleek and shiny as the music, he just looks normal as if to say 'hey yeah, you don't have to be a media whore or over-coiffed pop star to make incredibly good music.' I still want some of his t-shirts, the cutoff sleeves black one in particular

They give a show in Lille (France) and this music catch up my mind but it's not really the same. They were only two of them and they were showing galaxy express 999 episodes on screen behind them. And the version of the music was a lot more "spatial". Anybody can find a version of this song like this ?
