Magicshine MOH 55 Pro (4000 LM) Headlamp Extensive Field Test

- This is an extensive, multi-night field test of the Magicshine MOH 55 Pro headlamp. It was filmed on three successive nights in the Texas summer heat at three different locations. Each exercise illustrates a different way to carry the external battery and mount the headlamp.
Part 1 was filmed at the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, TX. This part illustrates the widest variety of headlamp modes and has the most wildlife shots. Part 2 was filmed at the Oak Point Nature Preserve in Plano, TX. This exercise was filmed entirely in 90-degree or higher temperatures and tests how well the headlamp performs in extended high/turbo intervals.
Part 3 was filmed at the LBJ Grasslands outside of Decatur, TX. This section of the video illustrates a couple of different use cases for the headlamp, including use as a vehicle-mounted search light.

Thanks - this can really put out some serious light, provided that you have a comfortable way to deal with the battery. I found that carrying it close to body worked best or use it as a truck-mounted light. The latter use case is most likely where I'm using it in the future for night SAR work.
A lot of people don't read video descriptions, but this is one where it may help. This is a long video - about half an hour - filmed over three separate nights. The first part contains the most wildlife views. The second is more of an endurance exercise. Part 3 shows some different applications of the headlamp. Chapters are always listed in the description, so use chapter navigation to rapidly move to the points of greatest interest. That would be an interesting one. The HP30R V2 wins on distance and downrange illumination as well as portability. Its top flood (1000 LM) is not going to match the best from the MOH. The MOH wins on run time, but the 21700's in the HP30R V2 can be hot swapped in the field. Thanks for the suggestion. It's now on the filming list.

I have about 6 Felix light products already. I turning into a light junkie
A light junkie! Just like me :). The MOH is an impressive light and the display is very floody. The big question is how will you deal with the battery pack? Also, how long will you be out? Fenix makes several good bike lights - www.fenixlighting.com/pages/bicycle-lights . The HP30R is discontinued. I use the HP30R V2 as a bump-helmet mounted light for wilderness Search and Rescue. It does have a good flood, but it's going to be heavy and probably overkill for biking. Good luck!

I think it depends on how you carry it. Bump-helmet mounted - you seriously notice it. And, I'm used to a heavy Team Wendy helmet. I found that carrying it in the pack or especially in a belly band close to my body, it was hardly noticeable. The belly band option was the best for general comfort, provided you can keep the cabling out of your way. Hope that helps.
