we apologize for the very short reaction video. Copyright issues got us. 😢
The copyright issues are so odd to me. Sometimes we get 50 minute reactions with no issue, other times someone posts a 25 minute reaction and has problems. Either way I am happy you reacted to it & think you should pursue the sequels & the series cobra kai. Decades later.
Too much blur too. Couldn't finish it, sorry. Was that due to the same copyright issues?
Everybody needs a Mr. Miyagi
Yes, for years after this movie, ppl were doing the crane kick.
But, for decades, everyone... including TV shows and movies were saying "wax on, wax off".
Ralph Macchio was 22 when they made this movie. He still looks younger than his age.
No doubt.. I remember back then I did t believe it. He looked 14...
Ralph Macchio who played Daniel LaRusso looks almost the same at age 60!! The guy never ages!!!
Because he is half Greek and we Greeks don't creak. 🇬🇷
He's related to the eternal teenager Matthew Broderick. 😉
there is something wrong with your eyes and memory than, make a screenshot of him in this movie and a picture of him today and place them beside eachother.
@@philmakris8507 Is italian
He was 22 when making this movie.
The late, great Pat Morita faced much opposition when auditioning for the part of Mr. Miyagi. The film's producers didn't want a stand up comedian and sit-com actor (Happy Days) in the film.
Fortunately, Morita convinced the producers to hire him, and he gave the absolute best performance. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in both the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes Awards.
The scene where he shows him what all that work has and that they were defensive and offensive moves is absolutely brilliant.
Even though I saw this movie in the theaters, I will always remember Pat Morita from happy days
This was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Some fun trivia about the movie...
- Pat Morita, who played Mr. Miyagi, was considered a big risk in the role, as he was previously famous for being a comedian. This film was his first major dramatic role.
- The karate instructor for the film trained the "Cobra Kai" actors in a strict, military-like fashion. He separately trained Pat Morita and Ralph Macchio (Daniel) in a careful, hands-on personal way. The fighting styles of the two sides in the film reflect their training. The instructor appears in the film as the main referee at the karate tournament.
- The scene in which Daniel first sees Mr. Miyagi practicing the Crane Technique while balancing atop the wooden post featured a stunt double as Mr. Miyagi (which is why he is shown in silhouette during that scene), as Pat Morita wasn't confident that he could keep his balance atop the post.
- The actor who played Dutch (the tall member of Johnny's gang with the curly blonde hair who tried to start a fight with Daniel in the locker room before the tournament) was named Chad McQueen. He was the son of famous actor Steve McQueen (nicknamed the "King of Cool"), who starred in popular 1960s movies like "The Magnificent Seven", "The Great Escape", "The Cincinnati Kid", "The Sand Pebbles" and "The Thomas Crown Affair".
Oh my gosh, what a memory you gave me.I remember every single kid was doing that move in school😂
Part 2 is actually my favorite.
It’s kinda epic
Noryiki "Pat" Morita was always a great actor, but he really put all of the heart into this move (and at least the one sequel).
You definitely need to watch karate kid part 2 now!!
The Congressional Medal of Honor. The CMH. When a recipient is wearing the medal or it's ribbon, senior officers salute, regardless of the recipient's rank.
There's a funny video on UA-cam that explains that Danny is the actual villian of the story.
And I love that they incorporated that into the Cobra Kai series
Directed by John G. Avildsen - who directed the original ROCKY -hence the vibes of underdog romantic sports dramedy.
"The deadliest move ever". Yes, because I broke something doing it in the house and I was sure my mom was gonna kill me. Ralph Macchio was 22 when this was filmed. I hope you'll check out the sequels and the show. The show Cobra Kai follows the characters into adulthood and its soooo good.
“You are a dead sausage!” Love it 😂😂
One of the greatest 80's movies and I hope you 2 also watch Karate Kid Part 2 and Karate Kid Part 3 and then react to the Cobra Kai Series Seasons 1,2,3,4,5
I didnt like that part three one with that silver guy and that barns guy they were just evil
@@trhansen3244 Silver was evil ..Barnes was just a business man he was being paid and was promised to own 50 percent of the Cobra Kai Dojo's if he beat Daniel in the All Valley Championship
@@fashizzle78spoilers
I like part 2 just a little bit more. I think k the villain is more menacing and it takes it's time to explore Miyagi's past
@@MrJholshouser412 is miyagis story 3 is the last year for the teenage tournaments and 4 (new karate kid) is miyagis last student before he passes away
No question that this movie is in my top 5 favorite movies of all-time. The Karate Kid 2 is also great.
I was born in 1997 but this movie is still essential to my childhood lol. we had the boxset of all three. The second one was actually my favorite cuz it took place in japan.
My favorite reaction couple is finally watching Karate kid. Great choice. The same director from Rocky directed this movie. Game over my friends.😊
"Stay Gold Pony Boy!" Check out Ralph Macchio in The Outsiders too.
You guys should watch the first 3 then watch the Cobra Kai series it's excellent
If you guys enjoyed Breaking Away (1979) there's another good film also about bicycle racing in a similar vein with Kevin Costner from the 80s called American Flyers (1985). Fandango (1985) with Kevin Costner is also good though not about bicycle racing. You should also check out Kevin Costner's sports films like Bull Durham, Tin Cup etc. He makes the best and most entertaining sports films.
Glad to see your reaction to this tho I wish it was longer. In the miyagi drunk scene, during that time all the japanese in america were taken from their homes and put into internment camps. Some of the men were allowed out of rhe camps if they agree to fight for america against japan & the axis powers. While miyagi was out fighting for the U.S. his wife & unborn child died. No doctors made it to the camp to help. Miyagi won his medal but lost his family. For those interested further there is a song by fort minor called kenji that tells a more detailed story of that time.
Hi ,Ms. Joy and Mr. Marion You Gonna Love All The Karate Kids Movies It's The Best Movie I'm growing up 90s Watching this movie with My Big Brother.
1. The Karate Kid (1984)
2. The Karate Kid 2 (1986)
3. The Karate Kid 3(1989)
4. The Next Karate Kid(1994)
5. The Karate Kid Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith (2010)
6. Cobra Kai Netflix Series It's have 5 Season gonna be 6 Season soon on Netflix.
Glad you reacted to The Karate Kid but your reaction is only about 20 minutes. Too much cut to make watching it enjoyable. No slight on you guys. You're both a kick.
No other RVC that I watched had as much editing.
14:45 that is the Congressional Medal of Honor. It is the highest decoration a military person can receive in the US Military.
This was so much fun, I can’t wait till you both check out the sequels! The Karate Kid movies are so addicting, and you gotta love the cute 80’s vibes. 🤣
mr miyagi got one hell of a slave labor lol
Now you MUST watch all of them; including part 4 with a female version; then you can watch the Cobra Kai series and understand it even better, the inside jokes will hit home more!
My brother actually learned martial arts from Bruce lee books back in the 80's, he was very good, entered tournaments against trained martial artists and won, he taught himself to use the nunchucks also like Bruce Lee, he got married and that all stopped.😂
Dutch is Steve Mcqueens son
I love it so iconic do the sequel and cobra Kai
Pat Morita The actor who played "Mr Miyagi" died in 2005.
It's interesting this movie had both the same director , and music composer as the 1st Rocky movie . John Avildsen and Bill Conti .
The song "When You're the Best Around" that plays during the tournament in Karate Kid was originally composed for one of the Rocky movies, but didn't end up being used there.
@@DamonNomad82 rocky 3
You two need to watch the other movies and check out the newer kobra kai series is awesome and continues the characters stories from the first 3 movies I think you guys will really like the Cobra kai series
After this you should see 2 and 3 then cobra kai TV show there's 5 seasons and season 6 coming sometime this year
The jacket he gets for his birthday is called a gi or kimono
I am Japanese, but let me modify your comment a little. That outfit is called "dogi" as you said. But It is not called "kimono". Thanks.

I recommend to watch Invictus (2009)...It’s a sport genre, excellent movie and based on a true story
21:19 😂😂
Watch 2, 3 and the new karate kid - then start on cobra kai from the beginning. Then it'll all make sense.
Then you can watch the other karate kid movie after because of a movie coming out in about a year. So you'll need to watch that before the movie is released
You forgot the 4th one, The Next Karate Kid, from 1994 with Hillary Swank.
Great 80's movie with feel-good moments and just about anyone will enjoy it.
There are four karate kids movies the first 3 with daniel and mr.miyagi off course the fourth one is a girl And Mr.miyagi also ans there is a reboot with jackie chan and as Joy said the show Cobra Kai is years after the first 4 and yes Jonhy is the main caracter and is a very good series indeed
You guys should check out Cobra Kei tv show with Daniel and Johnny
Great reaction guys
Mr Miyagis ancestors came up with the fighting style known as karate.
I'm glad you both enjoyed it, just 2 and 3 left. And after that you've both got to react to The Goonies 80s classic you will both love it☠️

@@pauldavis7260 no it wasn't it was fine
@marlonclark-pp9wg To you, it was fine, but to me, it was poor. I'm not know movie expert, but they could have made it a lot better. But hey, everyone's got their opinion.
@@pauldavis7260 i understand but what didn't you like about it?
14:40 - That looks like the medal of honor, which is the highest medal in the US military. His story about being a soldier in Europe is a bit historically questionable though, as almost every Japanese American who was allowed to serve during WW2 was used in the Pacific theater. They were used as interpretors, to convince other Japanese soldiers to surrender in their own language.
The 442nd was deployed in Italy and received MANY medals.
@@WillyMaykitDiecast OK fair enough, I just feel like it's a very Hollywood thing to have the main character meet someone who served in really obscure circumstances when in real life they're like 1 in a million amongst WW2 veterans.
There are 3 variants of that medal. It seems thatr it is the army-variant in the movie and there was one each for the navy and airforce too.
The 100th/442nd Regimental Combat Team is the most decorated unit for its size and length of service in the history of American warfare.[4][63] The 4,000 men who initially came in April 1943 had to be replaced nearly 2.5 times. In total, about 10,000 men served.[64] The unit was awarded eight Presidential Unit Citations (5 earned in one month).[14] Twenty-one of its members were awarded Medals of Honor.[5] Members of the 442nd received 18,143 awards in less than two years, including:
Sadao Munemori was the only Japanese American awarded the Medal of Honor around the time of World War II.
21 Medals of Honor (the first awarded posthumously to Private First Class Sadao Munemori, Company A, 100th Battalion, for action near Seravezza, Italy, on 5 April 1945; 19 upgraded from other awards in June 2000).[65] Recipients include:

@@kidfox3971 Growing up as a Nisei (2nd generation Japanese-American) kid in California, I was a rarity with all of my Japanese-American friends who were my age being Sansei (3rd generation), and all of their dads served in the 442. This wasn't at all unusual within our community while there were still many surviving members of our portion of "The Greatest Generation" (as people of WW2 era have come to be called - in case you haven't heard that appellation before), especially in Los Angeles and San Francisco and their surrounding areas where a lot of families resettled after being released from internment (still a significant enough a presence there that SF and LA are now two of the only US cities that still have a designated Japantown/Little Tokyo).

Never noticed the round swastika on Daniel’s first opponent back. I think it was originally used by Buddhist, then the Nazis took it and used it.
Pat Morita/ Mr. Miyagi was a standup comedian mainly. He played on a few 1970's tv comedies. Sanford & Son and Happy Days as Arnold the owner of a 1950's restaurant. Pat as Arnold was very funny.
Ralph Macchio owns the 1940's vintage cream yellow Ford Deluxe convertable from the movie.

Ralph Maccio was 22 years old when the movie was filmed.
He was the oldest person in the cast
Ralph Macchio the KK was like 22/23 when he filmed this in 83. Johnny the jerk blonde kid was only 17/18 years old in 83. Part II is even better, part III not so hot. However the new Cobra Kai Netflex series is really pretty good. Especially the first season. We learn a lot more about Johnny's past.
I usually love watching you guys reactions, this is just way to edited, way too much cut out. Very disappointing for such a classic. This 27 minute reaction should have been at least 45 minutes with edits.

The Karate Kid 2 was pretty good, but not as good as the first film (which was great).
The Karate Kid 3 was horrible, IMO. The villains were so over the top, and the script was bad.
Ralph Macchio had signed a 3-film contract, so he had to do the 3rd film.
