The copyright issues are so odd to me. Sometimes we get 50 minute reactions with no issue, other times someone posts a 25 minute reaction and has problems. Either way I am happy you reacted to it & think you should pursue the sequels & the series cobra kai. Decades later.

The late, great Pat Morita faced much opposition when auditioning for the part of Mr. Miyagi. The film's producers didn't want a stand up comedian and sit-com actor (Happy Days) in the film.
Fortunately, Morita convinced the producers to hire him, and he gave the absolute best performance. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in both the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes Awards.

This was one of my favorite movies as a kid. Some fun trivia about the movie...
    - Pat Morita, who played Mr. Miyagi, was considered a big risk in the role, as he was previously famous for being a comedian. This film was his first major dramatic role.
    - The karate instructor for the film trained the "Cobra Kai" actors in a strict, military-like fashion. He separately trained Pat Morita and Ralph Macchio (Daniel) in a careful, hands-on personal way. The fighting styles of the two sides in the film reflect their training. The instructor appears in the film as the main referee at the karate tournament.
    - The scene in which Daniel first sees Mr. Miyagi practicing the Crane Technique while balancing atop the wooden post featured a stunt double as Mr. Miyagi (which is why he is shown in silhouette during that scene), as Pat Morita wasn't confident that he could keep his balance atop the post.
    - The actor who played Dutch (the tall member of Johnny's gang with the curly blonde hair who tried to start a fight with Daniel in the locker room before the tournament) was named Chad McQueen. He was the son of famous actor Steve McQueen (nicknamed the "King of Cool"), who starred in popular 1960s movies like "The Magnificent Seven", "The Great Escape", "The Cincinnati Kid", "The Sand Pebbles" and "The Thomas Crown Affair".

Glad to see your reaction to this tho I wish it was longer. In the miyagi drunk scene, during that time all the japanese in america were taken from their homes and put into internment camps. Some of the men were allowed out of rhe camps if they agree to fight for america against japan & the axis powers. While miyagi was out fighting for the U.S. his wife & unborn child died. No doctors made it to the camp to help. Miyagi won his medal but lost his family. For those interested further there is a song by fort minor called kenji that tells a more detailed story of that time.

14:40 - That looks like the medal of honor, which is the highest medal in the US military. His story about being a soldier in Europe is a bit historically questionable though, as almost every Japanese American who was allowed to serve during WW2 was used in the Pacific theater. They were used as interpretors, to convince other Japanese soldiers to surrender in their own language.
