    I cannot believe how spot on Brett is! This is the second video he has put out in the last month that has been exactly what I wanted a "how to" on! Keep up the good work Brett!

    Tip: Keep them in water for around 5 mins then roast them. It will be easier to remove the skin.

      Do you advise to dry them off before putting them in the chestnut roaster or is that an unnecessary step?

    I put all the chestnuts in a pot full of water, the ones that float are rotten or old and can be discarded. To speed up the cooking process I then score them and put them in the microwave for a minute or two before heating in the open fire. regards Andy

      Great advice . Glad to hear someone knows how to check the nuts are ok to cook and eat.

    I’ve heard that song so many times. And have lived in many homes with a fireplace. Know how to build a fire. But never knew how to roast chestnuts on an open fire. Thanks. Happy holidays to everyone. And I mean everyone.

    This is pretty cool, thank you for sharing. As a chef, I might advise also throwing some aromatic seasonings or smoking-wood chips in near the end of the roasting process to fill your house will good smells!

    i was sitting in front a fire wanting to learn how best roast the many wild chestnuts now around .
    then he comes with a ultra luxurious chestnut roaster 🤣 I can't say that using such vices is honestly very manly ;)

    This may sound stupid and simple, but can you please make a video on how to mix concrete?! So many males I know, honestly do not know how to do it. Its quite embarrassing. Please, please make this a video, cos its a manly thing that people need to know how to do....

    • @Cutter1018
      @Cutter1018 10 років тому

      Really?? How many guys do you know need to mix concrete at least ONCE in their lives?!
      And if they do, I'm not sure if you've notice this yet or not: The bag tells you HOW TO DO IT!

    • @timfagan816
      @timfagan816 10 років тому

      I know how to mix it. I know loads of people who have no idea, the bag is just a suggested guide. I've seen people mix cap 40 or mp40 into (used to base up footpaths) into cement before. I mean honestly wtf.

      I wouldn't say need, I have had more than one opportunity to lend a hand to a friends DYI and be part of their newly purchased home renovation because of this. I think smart tips to make this less back breaking could be helpful.

    • @GoodKittyGoneBad
      @GoodKittyGoneBad 10 років тому

      I agree, that would be a good one for Manliness to do. With extra tips and such.
      L00NGB00W has had to mix cement in a couple of his videos due to building a foundry. You could check him out in the meantime...

      A couple of winters ago, a storm blew down a section of our fence. That spring our neighbors and my dad and I worked together to replace the broken fence section. We dug up the original fence post with its original concrete base (which, I might add, was rather sloppily poured), mixed some concrete from Lowe's (our neighbor knew how to properly mix concrete), and did a much better job on the base than the builder had.

    • @xxuncexx
      @xxuncexx 10 років тому +3

      well back then they would have made fire to stay warm in the winter and then you just buy some chestnuts, throw them in a pan over the fire and there you go.

      ArtOfManliness should do a video on quitting social media and reconnecting with people in real life. I quit Facebook at the beginning of the year and haven't missed it.
