    My major takeaway from this question and answer segment is that Poliquin is one of five people in the world who chooses to use Bing instead of Google (1:05:48)

    RIP Sir Charles Poliquin. I've discovered your work late, and look forward to learning from you for years to come.
    I disagree regarding fasting, and the proviso is Charles has brought this up previously. There are applications for fasting.
    In the obese, it is amazing. Secondly, other animals fast often, whether by choice or function of habit and environment and circumstance, they survive. Large cats and amphibians often eat huge carnivorous meals and then go for days without eating, which is the definition of fasting. Thirdly, autophagy has directly been linked to fasted and time restricted eating windows, with numerous benefits for various applications which we've only recently discovered. The mTor pathway etc, is directly stimulated by protein intake and switches off autophagy.
    Disclaimer: I'm not an expert but this is stuff I've learned recently and would like to learn more about.

    Intermittent fasting : Muscle : Actually a recent study was published showing a 9hr eating window (time restricted eating) produced more lean mass INDEPENDENT from exercise or diet. That means it causes lean mass increases by itself.

    • @thomasjackson2149
      @thomasjackson2149 8 років тому

      J. Allen does that include eating or all metabolic process like 9hrs from the time I have my morning coffee?

    • @99dynasty
      @99dynasty 6 років тому

      Yes, I believe the study..Time restricted eating reaps the benefits of fasting without the catabolism of fasting.
      As someone with personal experience training I would say you don’t have to eat time restricted every single day.
      I Find when I train really hard I feel way better if I just eat as my body asks me.
      On recovery or more sedentary days time restricted eating is not hard to do and is fantastic for your body and metabolism

      My experience doing IF for four years is that it's true. It helps gains.
      But keep in mind, the study you read and my personal experience almost always involved people on a real food diet.
      In addition to IF, we are eating eggs, grass-fed beef, salmon, and little to no grains. It's hard to find someone doing IF who's eating cereal, ice cream, etc.......

      Plant based? Fuck no. Meat/fat based! Then dairy, full fat of course. Then veggies in severely limited quantities. Throw some in-season fruits in there every now and then.
