Finding a contour that doesn't pull orange can be a challenge. My kryptonite is orangy contour and glitter in highlighter. I wish the companies would listen to their clients about this. Thanks Jen. Blessings!
The fact that you use bronzer for a bronzer and not contour is one of the reasons why I follow you! Make up is personal and versatile, but I personally can’t drive it with using bronzer for contour. Have you tried the Maybelline city bronzer? The lightest shade looks quite fair-skin friendly!
I actually recently purchased the L’Oréal True Match powder in C5 to use as a bronzer and it works great for my pale skin tone. I needed something that would blend, was not shimmery and was cool toned. Works for me!
What a good idea! I only just discovered that powder and love it! I use it directly on top of my Cerave Day Lotion SPF 30 just in my t-zone, and blend, blend, blend. Then I use a non-shimmer bronzer instead of blush, and put the bronzer on my eyelids as a shadow. It is my perfect no- makeup makeup. With a neutral face, I can also use a stronger lip color.
Another great idea for a video, Jen!!! With my fair skin I really dislike looking orange as well!! I just got the Milani one and I wish now that I had grabbed #2 instead of the #1...Great info and love the idea for Friday 5's!! Thanks again!! xo Gina S
I also love the Milani bronzer! I found it by accident at our grocery store, and I was on a hunt for a cool tone bronzer. I am determined to find the best drug store products because I am tired of paying for high end products. Sometimes the less expensive things have to much scent, but the Milani bronzer is awesome and does not have a scent. I think it blends beautifully. I also put it on my eyelids. I wear bronzer but no blush, and blend it really well. Thanks for your review!
So I have a very warm, medium-tan skin tone, but I still use the same Physicians Formula bronzer! It just warms the skin in a natural way so I don't look flat. I'm super interested in trying out the Milani ones, they look beautiful! Thank you for the video, I'm excited for series as a whole!
That's a good idea. I never thought of using the powder bronzer on the body. I hate those spray tan canisters. I can never apply it evenly and it always streaks and gets in my nails. Thank you for this video 🤗
I am very fair but have a yellow undertone (when I tan, I don’t turn golden, I look jaundiced 🤦🏻♀️), and Milani bronzer 01 is perfect like you suggested. Thanks for this video. You do an excellent job!
@@JenPhelps Hey Jen, Thank you for the video. What are your thoughts on the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Bronzer vs the light bronzer color one? Is one of them warmer?
@@redss111 I like the Bronzer shade better than the light one! It's the perfect cooler tone for my skin! The light one pulls a little too yellow on me. :)
I have the butter bronzer and the milani bronzer, I love the butter bronzer but have not tried the milani one yet. After watching this, I am excited to try it out!
Love the Top 5 idea. All of these bronzers are or sound (I haven’t tried them all) beautiful. I use the Balm and actually only just started to use the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer. I’ve been hearing great things about the Milani. One that I like and use a great deal is from Essence. It’s their Luminous Matt (not the regular matte) Bronzing Powder. It fantastic for fair skin and is just lovely. Plus it’s super inexpensive:) Thanks for the recommendations, gorgeous🍃🌸.
I've never gotten into self tanning or any tanning really. I'll stay pasty white, I was born a very ghostly girl and have embraced that I will always be. 😂😂😂 Thanks for the recommendations I'm always looking for a good bronzer that doesn't go too red or orange on me. I love the balm bronzer.
I really appreciate this. I’ve bought a few bronzers from Rimmel to OUCH Estée Lauder!!! I’m a very cool tone NW10-15. I’ve given up on self tanner too, I don’t tan, I freckle & burn. I’m pretty much embracing the radioactive pale look but.... I would love to have more options. I did buy one that works from the Body Shop. It’s their Honey one & comes in 4 or more matte shades. I have #02 and the only complaint is that the case hinge breaks easily. I’m trying to figure out how to depot it. But it’s nice to finally have other options that won’t go orange or that oh so attractive “I got desperate & streaked mud all over”! I’m going to try the bare Minerals! Then maybe the Milani #2. Thanks for the tips and suggestions. 😊👍 I stopped spending on and using selftanners long ago.. and have never been much of a sun powder person, I accept that I am mostly pale all year round..I lean cooler also. Pale and cooltoned bronzers are a bit harder to find, so I don't concern myself about that much anymore. Sun protection and a lovely lux blush is my thing when the sun comes out.
I’m getting that bronzer brush. I’m glad drugstore bronzers are getting better. I remember when they were all orange. That’s why I never did bronzer until recently.
I love this Friday Five idea! Sometimes when I"m on the lookout for a new bronzer/highlight, etc..it's hard to choose..I'm so pale and fair skinned most bronzers look way too dark on me lol. I've been wanting to try the Milani Bronzers but was unsure of what shade to go with..I'm going to def try #2!
I'm currently using the Physicians Formula Happy Booster Bronzer. I've been using it for probably about two years and you can barely tell it's been used. I love how the Milani bronzer #2 looks so it just might be time for a change.
I also have fair skin and self tanners scare me, but I wanted some color last summer so I tried the Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer in fair / medium (they also have one for deeper skin tones) and it worked really well! It's about $8.50 at Target, has a nice scent and my skin felt great. It takes a few days of consistent use to notice the color because it's gradual, but I would recommend giving it a try.
I am normally not a fan of self tanners but recently purchased the Josie Maran one off QVC and am in love! It was super easy to use and didn't streak or get patchy. It's super natural looking and actually hydrated my skin! Might be one to try if you haven't already.
The only one of those I have is the Butter bronzer. I also have a very pink skin tone so very tan or orangey bronzers don't look good at all, they clash. My top favorites are Laura Geller Bronze n Brighten, Doll 10 Golden Pearl and my old original Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess. These all have a pink or reddish undertone to them. Oh, and Bare Minerals original Warmth works too. TFS, good video idea.
As a fellow fair gal - neutral to slightly warm toned - I concur! Butter Bronzer in “Bronzer” & the one from TheBalm are my go to faves. And it’s SO true that - b/c of the tone - the shade Bronzer is better than Light Bronzer for fair skin; it’s hardly at all darker but the more neutral tone is much better for most who are fair. I’ve been debating whether to try the new Milani & I’d say you’ve convinced me! PS have you tried a self tanning water? That’s what is managed to turn me into a self-tanner fan after years of having less than positive feelings.
Bondi Sands came out with a dry oil self tanner and I love love love it on my pale skin and I am not having streaking or dry patches. I use a mitt with it and then add the gradual tanner to my hands.
I use MAC Sculpt for the perfect cool bronze for my fair skin. Hoola is too yellow for me. I also like The Balm Oliver. Tarte Clay Play palette has "Desert" which is also cool.
Beauddiction I use it for travel. It has a very pretty blush, a subtle highlight, and a cooler- toned bronzer with a nice sheen. It’s only $6- it’s definitely worth a try! ☺️ They actually have 3 shades; I’ve only tried the middle one, because the bronzer looked so promising.
L. H. Wonderful! Let me know if you like it. ☺️ Also, I learned about it from Tanika Jaun here on UA-cam. She has a video, I think it’s called “Fair Skin Favorites,” where she mentions it. She’s used it in several videos.
Amberger Helper I love it!! I’ll definitely use this, especially when traveling 😊 Great recommendation. And, Rimmel had an Ibotta deal so it was only $4.
I want to try the Milani one, I have the balm, the butter bronzer and I also use too faces matte chocolate Soleil- I thought it might be too dark on my light skin but it looks good. Also, I got in all my shoplush palletes and wow they are amazing quality!

I have both the PF and Milani bronzers, alternate between. If I want a little more glow I use the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Bronze It bronzer which has a slight shimmer. It’s also cooler toned (in the Light shade) and tons of product for the $.
Thanks for your review!! I added the Milani #2 to my collection. I have fair cool toned skin and I was worried this would be too dark. But you were right, it looks amazing on me!! Thanks for the recommendation!!
If you haven't tried the oldie but a goody, Nars Laguna bronzer, I adore it. I'm an NC10-15, and though I do have a real yellow undertone, I find it doesn't pull orange at all and just looks so healthy and natural.
You read my mind (or my search history?) this week lol I've been looking for a fair, not-orange bronzer! I'm absolutely going to pick up the BareMinerals one and one of the Milani shades to try. I love matte formulas but I'm hoping the BareMinerals one isn't too shimmery because it looks like the best color
I think it Emily Noel mentioned in a video that the shade in the upper left side of the elf Bronze Beauty bronzer quad is a good dupe for the Marc Jacobs bronzer. Obviously the pan size is a lot smaller but I own the quad and it is a really nice shade... I would love to try the balm anti orange bronzers but for now my go to cool toned bronzers that I use to contour are the elf one I mentioned along with the other matte shade in that quad, and a Beauty Benefits of Hollywood bronzer in Espresso that I actually found at Dollar tree. It's the cheapest cool toned bronzer I've ever come across and the formula is very nice, I had to buy two of them. I also enjoy the Wet n' wild Dulce de Leche contour duo but that one is more on the neutral side.
Every bronzer I have from the drugstore, even physicians formula come off orange!!?? I even bough like gray/cool concealers to bronze and they still come off orange!! This struggle is real!! Should I buy a countor palette??😏😘
I'm sure you're totally over the self-tan thing but it may help to know that I always put a rich body butter on my dry areas (knees, elbows, etc.) and let it absorb for just a few minutes, then go ahead with the tanner. It totally solves the problem for me. Love the video! The series is going to be awesome, I think!! My favorite has been the butter bronzer but I'm hearing so many things about the Milani that I think I'm gonna have to grab it.
Aww thanks! I have tried doing that as well but I think it's because those areas on me still have a rough texture even when I apply body butter on them so they just want to grab the tanner. It stinks. ☹️
Would love to see your favorite cream bronzer/contours! I use them almost exclusively in the dryer winter months, and I definitely struggle finding a good one for fair skin.
Kara Creswell I use the Maybelline Facestudio Master Contour Duo Stick in light. The contour side is the perfect shade for cool tone, pale skin. I don’t use the highlight side.
L. H. Just did a quick search online and can’t seem to find it in stock anywhere. Is it being discontinued? If you have minute, let me know where you buy yours in store so that maybe I can find it that way.
This came at the perfect time as I've been searching for a good bronzer! I'm also fair/cool toned and seem to have difficulty with bronzer pulling orange on me. I have the Butter Bronzer but have been wanting something new. :)
Brilliant idea for a vid. Why does anyone want the orange toned bronzer. I love all your choices but I think my favourite would have to be the Milani one, I haven't got this one ...... YET 🤪🤪🤪. XXX💗💗💗 XXX
I think it all depends on the skin.- which is so frustrating! The Physicians Formula pulls orange on me whether it's the original, the light, or the deep. Kathleenlights wore that stuff straight through 2018 and it pulled orange on her too. Ugh!
jenny koppy They pull orange on me as well. Have you tried the Essence Luminous Matt bronzer in Fair (I believe it’s fair, it’s the lightest shade anyway)? It looks so lovely on me. It’s neutral, and I never have to worry about using to much. The lightest bronzer I have ever come across.
Kara Creswell No! Never heard of it- but I'll try it. I'd say my skin is light-medium with neutral undertones. I'm going to put foundation on my arm and try them all again! My new trick is to use a liquid bronzer, even if it pulls a bit orange, buff it in, then go over it with foundation. I was scared at first, but it worked!!!!
I wonder if it’s your skin reacting to the coconut butter/oil in it? It works well for me and I’m super fair (too fair for most Mac foundation) with neutral leaning cool undertones. Even the deep bronzer works great for me when I use a light hand and a giant brush
Hey Jen thanks for the suggestions. I absolutely love your make up. What lipstick and eyeshadow have you used for this make up look? Greetings from Greece!
I would love to try that Milani bronzer but ever since it came in the market it's only been online, in their site and Ulta, not in stores. Also, Target has it on their website for $15 which is way more. Hopefully it will be available in stores soon.
Hello pretty. I am an Spanish friend watching your videos and I love your criteria. Could you tell me what makeup are you wearing on? I am thinking to buy Marc Jacob's
Jen...I just watched Jaclyn Hill's favorite makeup and she mentioned that the mentioned that the Morphe Glamabronze Face & Body Bronzer is a dup for the Marc Jacobs bronzer...and it is only $19.00 on Ulta....I think I will try it out because everyone has raved about the Marc Jacobs bronzer....Just an fyi. I have not tried it myself but that is what her video said!!! Take care Jen!! xo Gina S
@@snoopycoupon it's similar in tone...it's more cool than the others I showed. The shimmer isn't quite as intense as the bare Minerals, but definitely still shows up in sunlight a little bit.
I like this video, although to me, although I have a very fair skintone (almost as white as nordic or germanic people, which is pretty uncommon in Spain), like most people here I have a neutral undertone, which allows me to choose the bronzer only for its main colour, not thinking about the undertone... I almost never use bronzer, because I use to find all of them too artificial on my skin and although I go for bold lips (and sometimes eyes) I like my skin as natural as posible (most of the days I go only with a CC Cream and some powder to avoid oil in my nose). In any case recently I bought the Butter Bronzer in the lighter shade and it works pretty well for me. I also want to try the Hoola light, but as I am saying, I rarely use them because until I found the Physicians one, I found all of them to be too dark for me...
I love the new Milani bronzer 02, then the BH Cosmetics in Golden girl and finally the L’Oréal Lumi bronze it in 01. Those are my top 3! I also like the Physicians Formula but don’t always like using fragranced products on my face-though it smells good.
From my experience, if you leave the Butter Bronzer open a bit, the smell dissipates greatly. Mine barely smells. I use it daily bc it blends so effortlessly and the tone is perfect for me. I also love the Loreal Glam Bronzer. I don't know how similar the Lumi bronzer is. I assume it's the same but considering its so big and I have a back up of the Glam Bronzer, I don't want to buy another to find out. Just cannot have all of that bronzer around! Though I do want to try the Bare Minerals bronzer but I'm trying to resist!
I’m pretty light completed & o have tan in the invisible bronzer & it’s amazing. I’ve posted about it so many times on IG. All the invisible bronzers will be discontinued sometime in 2019 so I’m definitely going to get a backup because I love it so much. The perfect neutral tone & I can never over apply. I got mine at Tj Maxx too so it was even less than $19 but I’m willing to pay that just to know for sure I’ll have it in the future 😋 I don’t have ANY backups of full size products other than mascara so it says something. Lol
I can't figure out why my PF one still looks orange on me. :( I think I'm about 5 shades paler than you are (like you can see tiny veins...Walking Dead here 😂). Gonna grab the Milani tomorrow. I'm hoping that works.

Hahaha I'm so old school! 😂 I worked at Sephora back in 2004 and we had makeup artists come in to train us on makeup application and I never forgot that advice. It seems like so many people on UA-cam use it more for contouring, which is totally fine, whatever works for them! But on me that technique always makes my cheeks look muddy for some reason. 😂
I tried using bronzer heavy one time the classic UA-camr way. I looked ridiculous. I am super fair, like Fenty 100, and I looked like I’d been landscaping. For like a week with no shower. I know some of the things they do are because of the lighting washing them out but putting an 1/8 of a tube of concealer under your eyes, super big fake lashes, or tons of bronzer just doesn’t look good.
Going shopping tonight for a new bronzer. I am a true neutral skintone and wear buff, true ivory, or light beige in foundation. 2N2 in Estee Lauder Double Wear. I don't have orange, gold or pink undertones. Do you think shade 2 will be good in the new Milani bronzer?
I have your exact same skin tone and I just wanna see what you think of the Too Faced Soleil Bronzer, have you tried it? If so, which one did you try? I wanna get it and I'm not sure if I should get the Milk Chocolate or the Chocolate one, because I prefer the PF one in Bronzer as opposed to the Light Bronzer. Please let me know 😊 thank you!! Love your videos!! 🤗🤗
I actually haven't tried the TF ones but I'm thinking about picking one up since they'll be on sale during Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty! I'm leaning toward the Milk Chocolate one.

Im just now trying bronzers. Im fair skin too so i get scared about using bronzer. I also have the elf total face palette that has a highlighter two blushes and a bronzer. Is that a good bronzer too?
Thank you So much for doing this video. I'm a cool/pink-toned fair, and I've really struggled with trying to figure out which one works for me, and I feel like I have a much better idea now. Your tip about not always going with the palest was especially helpful. Unfortunately, I can't find theBalm Oliver-Anywhere. It must have been discontinued. It looked like the perfect color for me. Can you tell me which one (or a new one) which would be the closest color? I'm so glad I found your channel with this video. Subscribed, and looking forward to checking out the rest of your videos 😊
Aw I'm so happy you enjoyed this video! :) I didn't realize that the Oliver bronzer was discontinued. The Balm has been revamping their packaging and changing it to be recyclable. A few months ago they had completely gotten rid of some of my favorite blushes, but now they're back in different packaging, so the Oliver bronzer might be back too! But in the meantime, I think that the Milani Silky Matte Bronzer in Sun Kissed (shade #2) is very similar, it has that cool undertone and the formula is even better than the Balm's! The Lightest shade in the Milani is too yellow for me.
It’s SO hard finding a good bronzer for cooler toned skin!! Thanks for the recommendations!!!

Yay!! I'm so glad you like it! The #1 shade is very warm toned but this one isn't much darker, it just has a cooler tone which is awesome!
I almost picked up the Milani bronzer at CVS yesterday. . .now I know I'm getting it when I go back!
Thanks, Jen!
If you haven't tried the oldie but a goody, Nars Laguna bronzer, I adore it. I'm an NC10-15, and though I do have a real yellow undertone, I find it doesn't pull orange at all and just looks so healthy and natural.
Ooh I so want that Bare Minerals bronzer. Dare I? I usually use Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in light or my Glam Bronzer from Loreal!
I love learning about new bronzers!!
ABH has some great bronzers with unique undertones!
Thank you. It was always a struggle to find the correct tone for my light skin.
Thank you for this video, most bronzers pull orange on me also, going to try some of these!
Thanks for the tip about using the bronzing powder on exposed areas of body skin, when necessary. That might be a better option for me as well 💙
You read my mind (or my search history?) this week lol I've been looking for a fair, not-orange bronzer!
That BM bronzer is my favorite. Yes, I too am impressed you actually bronze and do not brontour!
Brontour!! 😂😂😂 I love it!
thank you! been looking for bronzers for my pale skin 💕
Every bronzer I have from the drugstore, even physicians formula come off orange!!?? I even bough like gray/cool concealers to bronze and they still come off orange!! This struggle is real!! Should I buy a countor palette??😏😘
I have the Phycians Formula one I love it but I may grab the Bare minerals one in the Ulta sale coming up! Love your videos
Yes! Thank you!😊
I have been trying to find the right shade for me but just couldn’t decide, these are all great!
It stinks. ☹️
Awwww! That is such a bummer. Self tanning is like a ritual for me sometimes lol. It's very risky though!
L. H. Thank you so much! I haven’t tried that one, but now I have to. 🙏🏻
This video is great and very informational. Thank you so much! I’m finally going to pick up the milani silky matte bronzer now!
Still searching for that perfect bronzer!! Right now I just settle for NYX and Lorac. Think I will give the Malani and the Bam a try
You have the BEST recommendations I love all of those bronzers 💕
The lightest bronzer I have ever come across.
jenny koppy it pulls orange on me too!!💔
Kara Creswell No!
Awesome review! I use Too Faced and Kylie but I can always use another! The Milani looks gorgeous.
I love that kind of video, great idea. And the best is that I have the same skin colour as you, red undertone. Love it. Thank you from Quebec. By by
Bronzer is my favorite makeup product 😋
Check out TJ Max and Marshall’s for the Bare Minerals Bronzer. I got mine there about a month ago for like $10.
New here from Marnie's page! (MsGoldenGirl) Great video! I have a hard time with bronzers myself. I'll be checking these out. Thanks so much!
Hi Elaine! Thank you so much for stopping by! 😊❤️
The Milani bronzer is perfection!
Any idea which milani bronzer she used? I'm trying to purchase online but these shades have names vs numbers 🙄
Always love your content. You have such a fresh, naturally pretty look.
Hello pretty. I am an Spanish friend watching your videos and I love your criteria. Could you tell me what makeup are you wearing on? I am thinking to buy Marc Jacob's
I like the Friday five video idea- looking forward to them! I love bronzer and it was nice to see a video devoted to it.
Excellent video. Good job Jen. Learned a lot! Thanks 💕🌸🌷🐱💄🐶
Jen...I just watched Jaclyn Hill's favorite makeup and she mentioned that the mentioned that the Morphe
Glamabronze Face & Body Bronzer is a dup for the Marc Jacobs bronzer...and it is only $19.00 on Ulta....I think I will try it out because everyone has raved about the Marc Jacobs bronzer....Just an fyi. I have not tried it myself but that is what her video said!!! Take care Jen!! xo Gina S
Have you tried the L'Oreal Lumi bronzer? The lightest shade looks as though it's cooler toned And I've been eyeing that one recently.
Yes I have that one too and I love the color but it has shimmer so I don't use it that often. 😊❤️
@@JenPhelps how does the shimmer/tone in it compare to the BareMinerals bronzer?
@@snoopycoupon it's similar in tone...it's more cool than the others I showed. The shimmer isn't quite as intense as the bare Minerals, but definitely still shows up in sunlight a little bit.
Have you tried st tropez one nighter mixed with lotion for tanning ? I’m super pale and this works well for me ☺️
No I haven't but thanks for the tip! 😊❤️
Thanks for the great suggestions. I am pale, when I get in the sun I turn pink, not tan :). Very helpful suggestions!!
Yay! I'm so happy it was helpful! 😊❤️
Have you tried Isle of Paradise self tanning drops I’m super fair verging on silver! But do find I.o.P brilliant they sell it in Sephora
I love the Hoola light. It allows you to use a bronzer and still look natural.
great choices i also love them but my favorite is the milk chocolate by TOO FACED
And it is half price at Ulta on April 5!!
Is there names listed on the Milani bronzers? I don't see numbers available for the shades
Great review for us light skinned gals! 🤗
Such a great video Jen....so everyday useful. Thank you!!!!!!!!🇨🇦💁🏼
Love not looking like an Oompa Loompa!! Keeping the Friday 5 going! ❤️
Yay! Thanks I'm so happy you like it!! 😊❤️
Great video. You have been making informational and amazing videos. Love 💗 it!!!!
What are you wearing on your lips ? Looks so pretty 💜
Lol
Jamie No! I will buy a back up. It is my favorite too.
Have you tried the Maybelline City Bronzer? It looks similar to the Milani one.
Loved this video! Thanks
I can't figure out why my PF one still looks orange on me. :( I think I'm about 5 shades paler than you are (like you can see tiny veins...Walking Dead here 😂). Gonna grab the Milani tomorrow. I'm hoping that works.
One thing I did was search all my bronzer on my arm. I found that they may not pull orange on the arm, but some will on the face😥
Yes the same happens to me all the time
Is there a color reference on the Milani? Is #2 suntan, or sunkissed
#2 is Sun Kissed :)
Hi there.new to ur channel. Came over from Marnie's channel ms goldgirl. I already love ur videos. Also I'm from Ct too.keep u the great videos. Just subscribed too
Hi! Thank you so much for coming to check out my channel and for subscribing! I'm so happy to have you here! 😊
I don't know how I would choose makeup colors with such golden yellow hair. You're a brave girl!
I have dark hair now so it's much easier. 👍
WHAAAAATTTT??!? A UA-camr that actually knows HOW to use bronzer??!? 😱 🤣🤣🤣 ❤️
Rebecca Carraway Agree!
Rebecca Carraway Yes! No brontour for her! hehe.
Kathy Brou BWAAAHAHAHA!!! OMG I love it 🤣🤣🤣
I tried using bronzer heavy one time the classic UA-camr way.
@@JenPhelps great, well, please do let me know when you pick it up, because I'm dying to get my hands on it and I don't know which one to get! My Instagram handle is @Jolina079, I'm following you on Instagram already, I'll DM you now. Thank you, you're very sweet 🤗😊
In case it helps I have fair to light skin with a neutral undertone and I like the Milk Chocolate 🙂
@@jessicabrown7353 thank you, Jessica! That really helps! 😊
Have you ever tried the Loreal true match lumi bronzer
Yes I have that one too and it's nice and cool toned. It just didn't make the top 5 due to the shimmer that's in it. :)
