These guitars are just amazing. As well as your channel, I follow JP Cormier. I have his signature Boucher which is the most brilliant finger picking machine I have ever experienced in 50 years playing guitar. Then this year I managed to get the private stock maple jumbo - just mind- blowing. Living in Scotland I was doubtful about getting hold of these but no problem! Boucher are so special.

Thank you John and and Jeremy for reviewing this latest SG-51-M model based on the latest OM Hybrid shape. We are extremely satisfied with the results and we honestly think that these guitars sound better than ever. Thank you for also explaining some of the differences between our option packs. It most certainly helps many people understand our offer. Greetings from the whole team

I've started really liking some of the non-dreadnaught shapes. There's a compactness there and a ring that's really great.

Yep, the SG-51 is an amazing guitar in so many ways (mine is a MV...includes the torrified top and other Vintage Pack options). I agree...it's a 5/5! Just installed a K&K Trinity Pro pickup system which is fantastic as well. 😃

Great content as always, I’m a huge fan of your channel!
That guitar looks and sounds amazing!
While certainly not everyone, including myself, could afford it, a guitar at that level for under 5K is a very fair price!
There really is a difference when you move into that next tier and have to think of prices according to context.
I have a Furch Yellow Master’s Choice Gc-CR, which was my dream guitar purchase, and to get that guitar for just under 3K, while still a lot of money for me, is also an incredible price for an instrument that does everything I could ever want a guitar to do!

Great guitar. If I didn't already have a Santa Cruz OM (or had unlimited cash), I'd snap it up.
You left out an important spec I need to know about every guitar- the neck shape. Please describe and show the neck shape in your videos. I can't do V-shape (I'm not a thumb over neck player).
On these higher-end models, I'd also like to know the string setup- string brand/model and gauge. For us better players, that gives us a point of reference for the tone.

Love your videos. My only complaint is that you guys never give the string spacing at the bridge. Come on guys. That’s important to some of us.

Thanks! As an update, just yesterday I came upon a pre-owned Martin 000-18, so that they care care of it. However, I might be interested in the new E10MCE when it becomes available. If for some reason the 000-18 doesn’t work out, I’ll be in touch. I love your store and videos. Thanks, Bill

Without exception guitar demos never use a capo. I feel it is as important to hear the tone of a guitar with a capo on as without. Will you discuss the effect of a capo on tone?

    • @AcousticShoppe
      @AcousticShoppe  Рік тому

We believe that realistically there is no discernable difference to the tone of a guitar when using a capo. We have a video coming out very soon that is a capo comparison & there we go into a deep dive though the different brands at different price points, as well as general capo discussion. Hope this helps!

In my experience new guitars can sound a bit weak with a capo as the reduced string vibration does not activate a tight new guitar. But I doubt a high level guitar like this Boucher would have that issue. It probably rings like a bell all the way up the neck!

Sorry , but even if I was a HIGHLY successful musician making highly successful money, I would not spend $5000 for a guitar. . You can get a REALLY REALLY GREAT Yamaha for under $1000 that can’t be beat . Go Yamaha - Go Right ! The rest are fooling you . . Sorry , just saying . .

These guitars are for those who appreciate high quality build and sound. I'm a long time Yamaha player, currently have two and I had a higher end LL16 . . . And they're nowhere near what a Boucher sounds like and plays. High end, well made boutique guitars are unbelievable experiences to own and play.

We all know what they say about opinions....and you are entitled to yours of course. Yamahas are nice too, but it's kind of like saying "Why buy a Lexus when you can get a nice Toyota for many thousands less"? If you have to ask then...
