My heart melted when I saw all the mini Rimzies - it looked like they were happy to say hi!! The pop ups, stickers, collages, and pockets you add are part of what make your sketchbooks so unique, but my favorite thing is how you draw what gives you joy. Sketchbooks like these, chaotic and personal, are worth so much. Your sketchbook doesn't only document your own life (in the most adorable way, you are a treasure) but also a whole generation, with the references to video games and characters we all know. But also the spiropgraph and glittery stickers we all used to have as kids. Thank you for sharing it!

I absolutely love the scrapbook quality of this sketchbook, and seeing Steph pull out some old Rimzies tricks! It's always my favorite sort of thing to do in my own sketchbooks, stick things in and use tape and stuff! Very cute art, as always, Steph! 💜💜

@@DoodleDate oh I'll check it out! I'm also curious about the scented markers, there's a caramel custard scented one? (I'm from the U.S and I had scented markers that came in a pack with like 100 colors, and only 5 or 6 of them were scented. My favorite was the light brown one that smelled really good but I didn't know what it was)

I've been having health issues for the last couple years that often make it hard to draw or sew, and so started doing mixed media again. I love going through my sketchbook to see all the crazy stuff I was going through, and what I was still able to create. ❤

I loooove really long sketchbook tours and this was just so satisfying to watch! You're so creative, Steph! And I deeply relate to that "collecting wraps" thing. As a kid, I would never throw anything away cause I always had a million ideas of things to do with different pieces of paper and materials. I still collect some, to be honest, haha! I think it's a creative person thing. 😊
Star Fruit grow in Puerto Rico! They're very tart, but become sweeter as they ripen. It's very hard to compare them to anything else, really! (at least for me) My favourite are the overly ripe ones that turn almost an uncooked egg yolk colour. My mom always cut little sliced ones for my lunch during my elementary school years and they never failed to make snack time magical ✨
Also, Steph always reminds me how important it is to think outside the art box. 🎁 Day to day life can sometimes sap the creativity out of us, so thank you so much Steph for reminding me how magical and wonderful it can be to go beyond your own expectations of what art can and should be 💕💖

Awww Steph! I used to go to Betty's a few times with my gran and grandad. They loved it. I totally agree it's worth anyone visiting the cafe. For me it will always hold special memories of my gran too it was her fave eat-out place. Big hugs 🤗🤗🤗

junk journals are always such pure spectrum joy, both to view and make. being able to look back at all the collections and tiny things, opening things up, all the different good textures one gathers. as a fellow autistic person,i can find many parallels with the way you interact with these things/life in general and the way i do. also your art is just so sweet + fully and authentically you 🫀

Those stickers you used around the Propranolol are incredibly accurate... I was prescribed them, despite my GP having known me since before I was born, thus being acutely aware of my asthma. It nearly killed me. It was at the start of the pandemic, too, I had to go to the SATA unit at our local hospital that had been set up for Covid because the symptoms were close enough to that. It was pretty stressful!
This sketchbook is so awesome, it’s really encouraging seeing art books like this, reminds me that I need to stop being so precious over my sketchbook and just put art in there ❤

I really enjoyed this video. I wasn’t sure I was going to watch the whole thing once I realized it was 40 minutes long but I was entranced haha! (Steph’s got the 🎂lol) I love the little stories behind all the little cutouts and paste in parts so much. I’m a little bit of a hoarder. I often keep little wrappers or stickers or bits of packaging but I don’t ever do anything with it. I usually keep it somewhere in the way until it gets thrown into some dark dusty corner. And when I dig it up next I either make the conscious decision to keep it or decide I don’t have the emotional bandwidth to toss it since I’ve kept it that long. I realize a lot of what you did was basically scrapbooking, but I guess I’d never seen it laid out this way. I think maybe you’ve inspired me! Maybe all my little bits and bobbles will finally find a home

All the little interactive elements make me so happy and I honestly hoard so much stuff like this too. I also have a trimmer. Actually, it seems like several tremors because it’s so often but I take medication for it and I believe that’s why it’s good that you admit that for the rest of us.

My Aunt hallucinated on one of the medications she took, she seen Snap Crackle and Pop making stew on the end of her bed. She also hallucinated doors that weren't actually there it's apparently very frustrating when you're trying to turn a door knob to open a door that's not actually there.
hahaa omg the snap, crackle and pop had me howling!! medications can rly do that, i am a believer LOL

You should add some watercolor ground to you Amazon wishlist it works kinda like gesso but for watercolor, you can paint on to all sorts of stuff and it turns it into a surface that works with watercolor, I like to use transparent watercolor ground in coloring books so I can paint in them, but I think the regular white kind works a tad bit better, the brand qor and golden are the best.

Can confirm gesso is a godsend for using acrylic paint in sketchbooks. It makes the paper thick and reinforces it so it doesn't go all wobbly either 💜

I loved this so much. I'm hoping to find inspiration for some sketchbooking as well. What your sketchbook teaches me is that it's often just about working out small ideas. It doesn't really matter what art supplies etc. Just go for it. (Which is harder than it seems.)
