  • According to 2024 statistics, Washington state continues to lead the nation in apple production, with 6.76 billion pounds harvested, accounting for the majority of the total U.S. apple output. This impressive figure is the result of large-scale farms in the state, where the climate and soil conditions are particularly favorable for apple cultivation. Meanwhile, New York, ranking second, harvested around 1.37 billion pounds of apples, with many small family-owned farms contributing to the state's apple industry. Pennsylvania also made a notable contribution, with approximately 656 million pounds of apples harvested this year.
According to estimates from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the total number of apples harvested nationwide ranges from 11.3 to 12 billion apples annually. This production not only meets domestic demand but also supports exports, making American apples available in many international markets. These numbers highlight the strong growth and vast potential of the U.S. apple industry, especially as farming practices and storage technologies continue to be upgraded and optimized.
