Every time I think of selling my EP3 to replace it with a modern day turbo hatch I watch these videos and change my mind. I’ve driven some quick turbo hatches but nothing drives and feels like a sharp high revving naturally aspirated K20
I’m currently thinking of trading my 8P S3 for one of these… 100hp less, but far more raw and a lot lighter. Thinking it’ll be more reliable, economical and all around affordable going forward.
@@izzy031096 deffo reliable. I was thinking the other day how much money I’ve had to spend on German cars and not a penny on my EP3 for repairs, only maintenance
yeah that car is nothing the viewers can relate to. I enjoyed the M3 content but the golf R is getting pretty boring (to hardcore/racecar) and the A45 is meh.
Yea the Merc is pretty bland, the days of the green golf r were glory days I think if the current golf r was a bit more toned down it would be more interesting or better yet an s3 or something jdm
What kills me is that as an american everyone hates these car except the people who actually know about them but everywhere else there loved to pieces its just sad because there so sick
Pure driving pleasure! These high revving engines are quickly becoming the preserve of the supercars only club. Get a decent one while you still can!! This one sounds just right. No stupid pops & bangs.
Had mine for almost 7 year's, all I've done is clean up the underside, which was already in good condition (plenty of tidy ones left) and service every 3k plut tyres and brakes on it, other than that it's standard with a different twin exit oem looking cat back and it's fantastic fun regardless.
Now imagine a higher vtec rev range, lighter feeling steering enough to actually be noticed and at least 20% better handling at any given speed.. That's the Integra type r all summed up something one must experience to fully appreciate theses machines but yeh awesome work welldone👍🏾
Had a 02 plate in Nighthawk black was a great car only downside was it ate Bridgestone tyres and no sidewalls = very firm ride in cold weather but very reliable in the 8 years l owned it
I’m in America and waited waaay too long to get one and when I finally got one I’m 4 years into owning it an I love it.. these cars are a blast to drive
8:15 After having B8 Passat SW with full spec and all those electronics...damn button as handbrake and then when it started to brake I went for Honda Civic Tourer 1.8iVtec. Was it a downgrade? For most people yes. For me it was back to basic handbrake, engine that is rev happy, parts that are ridicilious cheap and I can fix the damn car next to the road if something brakes(which actually never happens with Honda). Boot space is larger then Passat or Octavia...has Magic Seats at the back. Climate control, ABS, six speed manual is what I asked and I got it in a low mileage Civic Tourer 2014 which I payed half the price as similar premium electronic plastic over-engineered piece of crap made by premium car makers. Now I am searching Type R FN or EP3 as a daily second car and can't wait to enjoy myself.
Beautiful car, unfortunately not too good against walls. Hold third longer. Take your normal corner at 70 instead 30, ridiculous. (While on private roads obviously)
Although driven much faster cars, the Ep3 Type R was one of the greatest drivers cars I've driven, just felt so light and responsive with banger of NA 4 cylinder engine 👌🏽 To this day, nothing I've driven felt so purely focused on driving pleasure.
Great car! I remember the day I was torn between buying an ep3 or mk5 gti, I chose the golf in the end due to the fact the potential with a turbocharged engine there was so much more potential. Your face says it all though! Keep up the good work!
If the owner did not took good care every single 20+ years old car rusts into oblivion. The rust is not the issue...it's the owners that are stupid enough not to wash the car after using it for the whole Winter season without washing underbody.
Had one of these and loved it came from turbo cars took me back to being 17 on a rs125 Rev the shit out of it and smile faster then people think when you wind them up
Yes fair enough a modified one, it sounds great, but a standard one is underpowered. It's reasonable at ten tenths but daily driving it's slow because it has no torque. I'd rather have my Golf R anyday. I nearly bought an Accord Type R once though and half regretted that. That had a 2.2 and more torque though.
That was the best gen of hot hatches imo, there was this (EP3), the focus RS MK1 and the golf Mk5 GTI. Maybe you should try a MK1 RS next. That would be my pick of the bunch
You need one! My son is selling one and he is in the Hampshire area. Had owned 3 of them and loves them. Only reason he is selling as they now have a more family oriented car.
Brilliant video love the car Simple car builds of the late 90’s early 00’s Arguably the best era of cars BMW M3 E46 VW R32 Ford RS Civic type R Good condition cars of this era will be more valuable then when they was new in the coming years. Thank you :)
Absolutely iconic car and more so engine. Experiencing VTEC for the first time is like popping your virginity 😂 A fantastic 'raw' hot hatch. None of this all wheel drive or duel clutch nonsense. Just fun to drive. A car that puts a genuine smile on your face. The numbers ain't amazing (even with Remap). Yet just a blast for B Road bashing. A bit like the Mk7 Fiesta ST. It's never to late to get one. Although now ageing and most will have been thrashed or modified (just like Mk7 Fiesta's).

Same. 12 years ownership in
why not sell your snooze fest merc and buy/turbo one of these, would be a far more interesting build series
yeah that car is nothing the viewers can relate to. I enjoyed the M3 content but the golf R is getting pretty boring (to hardcore/racecar) and the A45 is meh.
Rather have the a45 than the m3 he has
This kids Channel has gone boring altogether

Because he's a bolt on bore fest bandwagon mod kinda guy

I will never sell mine ever.
Same here.. I live mine
I bought one new in 2003.
One of the best cars I’ve ever owned. Always regretted selling it.
I had mine since 2002 yet with me
i regret selling it too, but not regretting the money saved on tax , on repairs, maintenance, fuel economy. It would cost a lot to keep it.
Pure driving pleasure!

they dont usually have pop and bangs, its an N/A engine..

Awesome car, i supplied the K24 engine for it.
running 4.3 or 4.7 final drive?

Anyone else cringe when he mentioned the exhaust manifold but put his hand on the inlet manifold?
He’s just cringy altogether mate doesn’t belong on you tube
Absolute blast to drive, experienced one too
I’m in japan rn thinking about getting one of these! I love it!
I’m in America and waited waaay too long to get one and when I finally got one I’m 4 years into owning it an I love it.. these cars are a blast to drive
Now I regret selling mine 😭
Such an underrated car ,never had but love em! ❤️
Underrated? The car is a mith
Sounds like a Touring Car from the 90's 🙂

i have a red fn2 for sale
Buy one same spec and add a throttle body and cams with a Hondata ecu.

Exactly the same. Civic was like driving a go kart. Loved it, but the mark v gti was in a different class
Should have gone EP3 💯
off topic, can we all agree the m3 should go? the a45 is alright for now
I heard alot of these are rusting on the underside. Even the fn2 (the one that came after this) already rusts.
If the owner did not took good care every single 20+ years old car rusts into oblivion. The rust is not the issue...it's the owners that are stupid enough not to wash the car after using it for the whole Winter season without washing underbody.
Just get one then
Had one of these and loved it came from turbo cars took me back to being 17 on a rs125
Rev the shit out of it and smile faster then people think when you wind them up
Great comparison there mate, kids these days won't understand the feeling of riding a rs125 when the power valve comes in
I believe everyone should buy one and hold on to them 2050 it’ll be the best classic. Uk gov provably offer £100k scrap age scheme aha
Anyone got a link to the build? Sounds like the perfect one for anyone wanting to stay NA

Golf R 🤣 how boring!!
@@mugenrr8202🤦♂️🤣😂🤣 true...
Awesome video mate, so close to 100k and that silver play button really deserve it dude
I used to have one exactly the same colour and spec, miss the noise and loved the gear lever where it was! So unique

That’s an inlet manifold, 421 is behind the block
Sell one of the other less relatable builds and buy one of these and do a turbo build etc
What's the song? I love it
Honda law states must bang of limiter few times before you change gear
That ain’t no normal ep3 lol

Details?
Hi John any more info? Asking price? Mileage? Service record? Any rust? Any outstanding repair work that he’s not got round to? Thanks
the amount of joy the ep3 gives you, i think you should buy it. it would make great content
Awesome car awesome video that's how I felt driving one they need a longer 6th for cruising but they are wicked cars
Love them I want one
Mine will be back on the road next month after nearly two years off the road and im BUZZING 😂
Harry Potter doesn't know his exhaust from his inlet manifold! 😅
had this car when I was 21 and it's the best car I've driven, so much fun to drive. VTEC YOOOOOO!!
Don’t turbo it. Focus on brakes and handling.
KPRO, airbox, headers, coil overs, larger brakes.
Brilliant video love the car
