It would be a budget killer for sure,, but I would love to see that bed airbrush tattooed with something to symbolize each of the people who helped on it. This rig is the epitome of the community you've built throughout your career, which is one of the things that makes your channel so awesome! You've introduced me to so many other builders since I started following your channel; thank you!
Next time you are seam sealing, I would recommend trying to get ahold of Sikaflex-221. It's a polyurethane sealer/adhesive we use on locomotives and it is waaayyyy tougher than silicone and could glue your panels to their frames. Seriously. Just don't try to smooth it out with water. That ended very poorly.
Sikaflex-221a is cheaper (it's construction grade) and my old man sealed the oil pan on my racecar with it. So it handles heat and abuse.
No way! That stuff sounds magic!
It’s the one!
It is awesome stuff... do not substitute with 227. 227 is sealer... 221 is an adhesive sealer. But it does stay more flexible than seam sealers i have used.. I use the straw method to remove the major excess and smooth with a solvent that does not upset the surrounding paint..yes I paint first (well undercoat) for added corrosion protection
@MakeItKustom it's pretty awesome. Though our engineers tend to think it's the solution for everything, including thread sealant. It's a negative 7000/10 in that department. Panel removal can be a problem because it's so tough, but as a sealant for rough service, I highly recommend it.
Soapy water in a spray bottle and your finger to make it smooth. Works real well just have a heap of rags and a bin with in reach, It will still get everywhere though lol
At least when you don't have audio you supply us with great music. 😀 Love the channel!
Truth!
Brought back memories from early "80s. I was mid teens, dad had some how swung a deal with a welding shop to allow us to sand blast the '57 D100 frame that had a '69 Fury front clip grafted on. They got me all suited up, and dad had to finish the job. It's not as fun as you might think.
I really liked the rendering!! Flat black pleez, I have that image burned into my brain. But it's your ride. I'm just watching 😁
Maybe down the road you and Brent can do a road trip like you planned on , I remember when you and you wife were in that little shop and you said you wanted something better,Well you did that,ha ha ha, Great to see she's finally coming to fruition and you can be proud. You two make a good team ,You both got a lot done here.
The blue cab has grown on me!
Back in the 70's I was party to sandblasting and repainting aircraft tow tractors out in Kaneohe, Hawaii. We did it very much the same way on a similar scale. Spent a year on the job so I can appreciate the effort. We didn't have any music to go with it. Thanks for showing it off.
When the montages come on, especially with Karl’s music selection, I like to play it back at 1.25 or 1.5 and jam to the tunes as I get into the work being shown. ❤
What a great video . I was so suprised by the amount of paint ,( 14 gallons ) but it is a massive build and a huge framework that no one ever sees . Thank you for including us , Its been an educational trip and so much fun to watch , I'm always in the background learning as you explain each step thougherly , Stuart in Ontario ..
I worked in video for over 25 years and I gotta say - audio was ALWAYS a pain in the a$$. Even just setting a phone somewhere and hitting REC gives you some kind of backup. Better than nothing, right? Love the channel! I've learned so much. Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks man seems like once in a while I really screw up badddd
Flat black with metallic blue flames
Blood red!!! Deep and rich like the Karl and El Eyo!
Looks amazing! I suggest satin white for the cab with black trim to match the black bed.
Monumental undertaking. Time lapse was the way to go. Great job.
Awesome stuff, huge Sandblast job wow
Dude loving this thing. Lots of time and soul put into this, can’t wait to see the final product 🤙
My favourite paint is epoxy coal-tar. It is incredibly adhesive and hard - used on off-shore structures. Second more important comment: You need to put some sort of insulator under the deck (plastic tape?)and use stainless fasteners to avoid galvanic corrosion.
Wowsers! Incredible amount of work...even blocked the side panels! 13 gallons! And I keep putting off the one gallon for my '46! Can't wait to see it all come together! Go Japhands, keep moving forward!
Thank you for painting the truck. Patina gets old after a while. Paint it the same as or near the original blue.
You should definitely do some gold leaf on it because every fire truck has gold leaf on it.
Looking great Karl ! Still here
As Brett would say that's a lot of welding, lookin good thou that blk an blu gonna look sharp, get that Diamond plate back on looking sweet
This truck is looking so awesome! You do amazing work!
Thank you! Cheers!
WOW what an AWESOME job! Can't wait to see the next video!
Great to see Elio. Tremendous job. Wow!! Being of a smaller stature sure helped on this job, getting around under the deck!! Look forward to the next one. Be safe and stay well.
Yes indeed!
Thanks for the video!
@MakeitKustom
Coconut Pearl w/a few light coats of transparent Pearl Gold. The color shift when the sun hits it is amazing. Some Gold Candy accents would look good too.
thanks..
..Black Art Forge..
Looking forward to seeing her done. Such a huge undertaking.
Metalic root beer and pearl white red pin stripes
This build is awesome. To finally take that cab and make it This kool machine! So stoked to see you getting it finished up.
Truck looks great - I was a Firefighter for over 30 years in Ontario and since it started it’s life as one , my vote is RED
Love watching and learning thank you - bought a Cleco Fastener Starter Kit to help with bringing back my 1942 Farmall M tractor back to like new condition. I plan on using it on some patch panels I want to make up to replace some rusty spots.
The second half of this video, was your best content yet! That has nothing to do with the fact your Mic didn’t work 😂
Thanks for the inspiration to get on with my projects, keep showing and teaching… we’ll keep watching!
What a sweet looking rig, cannot wait to see the entire rig finished.
We have totally loved the ramp truck build. We live in Perth. Great stuff Carl. Excellent channel. Ellio is super too. We also follow Jordan too😊😊
Amazing ! Thanks for the support!
Even though you've had some mic trouble the narration is a nice touch, it serves the video well.
Awesome man!
_MONTAGE ~ You gotta have a MONTAGE!_

@@MakeItKustomI posted the link for the short video for you Karl.
Dig it! Getting closer, boys!
good job man 👍💪
Awesome! I was hoping you were going to paint this project...My color suggestion: FLAT Green...w/ your logos painted on the doors! ❤
awesome stuff bud keen to see her painted up. technology is mint until it leaves the chat and screws ya. HA HA
Very nice. Ramp trucks are the coolest!
They always look better when they're all one colour. Epic job. Waiting to see the whole thing finished.
Your choice of music is outstanding
Regardless of color, I vote for a paint code from any manufacturer of the same vintage. I love seeing new paint in vintage paint codes.
For rounding over the sheets a pneumatic hammer with a rounding die is the ticket. Use it all the time here when there is a piece of tubing behind it.
Thanks for sharing 😀👍
Awesome truck … my buddy gavin works in the boiler industry and he takes his stuff to all pro blasting also … they are super reasonable …. I hope to visit you one day , i live in delta and mom lives in langley area 👍🏻💪🏻
Truck is looking great . As for colour- I was a
Look at you slap on the bondo..LOL.That is the best way to coat the bed. Sandblasting the mill scale off will make this paint job last a long time.
Looking great
NICE, Jack, RI, USA
To keep from warping the metal you lay 6 inch bead and then you go out 6 inches and you weld back towards the heat better chance of it staying flat, then you go out another 6 inches and weld back towards that bead.
Trucks looking great
That is one cool truck!!
I think I like the work time lapse better as a majority of the video.
це, вже, не робота з металом, а окремий вид автомобільного мистецтва! this is not work with metal, but a separate type of automotive art! :) great work
Hi there I would like to tell you that I have polished my dressing hammer and Dollie’s they are so much better to use love your videos one guy from the uk 👍👍👍👍
Keep it going!
It looks weird watching you spread mud! 🤣 looking awesome brother! 👍
Nice truck 🚚 🛻 👌 👍 👏 😎
Looking sweet💚🇬🇧🌱 loss of sound wasn't a massive issue, Ellio barely says anything worth while anyway😂🤣
Another great video
Looks Great.

When you going to do more work on the baby Buick ?
How do I get an Ellio? You are so blessed and lucky to have a friend like that! Be very intetional to never take him for granted 😉👍
You should have called Brent... nothing he loves more than sanding!!! : )
hahaha
Freaking exciting.
‘Make it Kustdone!!’
its be beautiful kick ass when all done one more project off checklist .you more time finish your other rides
Lots done in a couple days. Hard grind but its done. Im very curious what was causing the noise, transmission or engine?
OK, when are you bringing the Cadillac back?😊
Niceeeee
Nice one 👍
I'm just curious how you're going to keep the compartments water tight?
I am using a weatherstripping
👌
I mean you might not be looking for actual colour choices but I’d go something old school like a beige cream with a burgundy, two tone, get some old school signage done too
Maybe you covered it in another video, but why did you choose for the doors to open down in that way? It seems like they would be in the way. Just curious. I love your work.
If memory serves, it was a matter of being able to work « on » those doors, like a makeshift table. Working on the road
I laughed at Elio banging on 16 gauge with his hearing protection up on the side of his head! How'd that work out?
That hair muffles the sound.
Hey just wondering, why in the description of this video does it say all professional sandblasting and painting at the address in Port Kells but I’ve been there before and it’s called PMS Painting LTD, not All Pro sandblasting and painting? I’ve given multiple jobs to PMS Painting and it wasn’t named All Professional sandblasting and painting. When did you guys become affiliated.
🤘🏻
Hey Karl, did you end up sorting the cooling issue?
Yup it’s sorted!!!
When in doubt black it out
looking good. what was the source of the transmission squeak/grind?
Did I hear you swear! Hahaha!
Did you ever solve the overheating problem?
You need to talk Elio into getting a haircut like yours! 😊 (I'm sure I spelled his name wrong lol)
Lol 😂 that man cannot be tamed Kimberly… 😊
