The 8L35 is one aspect that should always be highlighted, one of Seiko's best moviments, no plastic parts and Grand Seiko top quality level. Unfortunately we don't see this level of craftsmanship, parts quality and QC in many expensive Seikos in the Prospex, Presage etc lines using the 4r35 or 6r35 movements. In the 8L35 line they stated the range of +/- 10 seconds a day but I believe it's just a way of avoiding any legal issues, just for safety sakes. it's a damn accurate movement, as I was told and also information available online. Congrats for the purchase. Great videos. Keep uploading, man!!!! Wish I had a bigger wrist. Not for me.

@@juniorgallo8786 100 percent. There needs to be a clear distinction level between presage and grand seiko. I also doubt that Seiko could make enough of the 8Ls along side the 9s to meet demand from both segments
I have the original "modern" marinemaster (SBDX001) in my collection since many years and I fully understand your crazyness about this watch. I have bought other dive watches since this one (in particular the very nice Omega seamaster 300 white ceramic you also have) but strangly no other dive watch have the same attraction on me. This watch is a real cult among real divers (I remember at the time when I bought it, I frequent some specialized dive watch forum and the marinemaster was as respected as the Rolex submariner by many). I quite agree with you: videos never render the beauty of this watch... you really need to have it in the metal to feel its quality and see the beauty of the finishing. I just regret the new version does not have the "marinemaster'" name on it ... just this sad prospect "X"

Man, I totaly can understand you, completely! This watch is a special one and in the time between buing some weeks ago and now, it becomes a part of my body! In the past, I´ve always look for a watch, that would fixed me, but all I can find was boring! Then I come up to this, seen this watch on so many videos over a longer time, but 3 weeks ago, I get one, told me, It´s the best I could get for my money! Polish, technik, bracelet, Saphireglas, Ceramicbazle, the enotmous weight and all the other parts are more than more you could not find on another watch in sthis pricerange, never! My black one is the best choise I could get! No blue, no green, black is the colour you should where, in my opinion! Black is the origin and that's the way it should be, everything else is nothing but fads. Thank you for let us see your minds! It´s my opinium, but still know, you will agree! I see this as a "going on a summer holiday " piece, would look amazing in the sea or in the pool or going out in the evening .. seems to fit all situations. And it really pops!
I can never quit seikos back in 2020 i bought my first seiko automatic the turtle padi pepsi and man i bought five more between presage japanese only model to transocean chronograph to marinemaster SLA021 then two grand seikos all i wear now is seiko i guess once you infected by seiko virus its hard to recover.
Seiko rules. Especially the higher end ones. The Tuna is one more such gem which you love more and more once you start wearing it. And wears superbly on average sized wrists.

hey bruce, great review. finally pulled the trigger and got an mm300. but i really wanted the OG sbdx001, they are crazy expensive on the secondary market so i was able to source a NOS sbdx017 (second version). something about the purist in me wanted the text marine master on the dial instead of that prospex symbol. the alumium bezel insert and hardlex crystal are more retro too.

I have a great local dealer that had the new Green special editions. I put this on, the MM200, Sumo, Samuari, old MM200, and new Shogun. I own a San Martin Sumo Homage, Omega Semaster, Tag link and a few others. The MM300 dial is soo good, the finish fantastic, the bracelet is good, its no Seamaster bracelet BUT its porportions just dont quite work its too thick. Make it 13mm and I'd be ordering it tomorrow

How many times has Rolex changed the text on the submariner? No one really talks about it because it’s a sub. I would’ve loved the Marinemaster name but the watch has gotten better with time. The 300mm has an identity that is all it’s own. I’m glad I have 2 and that they still look timeless.
nice bruce, congrats! was thinking about pulling the trigger on a mm300 a few days ago but then sinn released the limited "103 classic 12" and i immediately had to go for this one instead of the mm300 :D this hobby is crazy! you think of getting a watch for a few days and then suddenly something else gets released and you throw all the money on that other option in a few seconds :D maybe i am more of an impulse buyer than a rebuyer :D allthough i already rebought a seiko turtle, a full metal square and a hamilton khaki field :D
There's a few aftermarket straps for these, some manufacturers do a waffle rubber strap with nicely fitted end, marries with the case perfectly. Probably a better more comfortable option than the stock bracelet.
It’s a beautiful timepiece but I sold mine. Owning one was a wonderful experience but I have recently downsized my Seiko collection from a dozen to just two. It’s so easy to get carried away in this hobby, I ended up keeping the JDM SBDX033 (all black MM300) and SBEC005 (Panda Chrono). Enjoy your SLA045!

Nice to see some effort put into the seconds hand. The standard gold ones look so rough around the edges. Seiko really needs to update that bracelet, the long links do look out of place and as you say - make for a mostly miss when it comes to fit.
I don’t understand when people whine and complain about “chunky-tall-heavy” etc in dive watches. It’s a DIVE watch for gods sake. That’s like complaining a Hummer Is too beefy

I'm late to this video. But I'm considering picking up a MM. I have a Seiko sne497 (solar Tuna) which is my go to watch. If you are still considering a comparison video I'd be interested in seeing a comparison between the two. One of the things I love about the solar Tuna is how low profile it is. I know the MM is going be be thicker.
That is a struggle I am constantly in. I want to wear all my watches at least once a week, but if I do one per day it would take over two weeks to hit them all. Which kind of bother me as silly as that sounds

I own omega seamaster and tudor black bay trust me quality is nowhere near a high end Seiko its just alot better quality nicer wear all around except what somee allege of bezel misalignment and chapter ring which i never met yet. Seiko high end pieces are way way more value than similarly priced swiss watches
@@andygregory2145 I think you mean in favor of marine master because I do honestly have both and yes bracelet is not as good as Tudor but watch itself with polishing and dial marks and hands details is way above Tudor and I may say submariner. I also don’t mind it’s thickness because of its monocoque construction

Beautiful and timeless Diver from Seiko! Love it. But I think it's WAY overprice for what you get. Yes, it's an upscale Seiko but it's more on the 'S' than 'GS' side if you ask me. Nevertheless I absolutely understand why you bought this, Bruce! If you really love a watch the price shouldn't be an issue (up to somewhat realistic limits, of course ;-)). Enjoy the 110! Never quite got the MM300. Haven’t tried it on in person though. Will never write off a watch without trying it on. Hated the look of the Willard, tried it on and bought it straight away, now it’s my favourite Seiko! I think the weight of the MM300 is what puts me off the most, but I’d still love to try it.

Put a marine master side by side with any Tudor, you will see the noticeable difference in quality

I had to experience a MM300 once, a SBDX001 which I did in 2019. Wore it for 60 plus days straight and sold it. Great watch but simply too heavy.

Beautiful and timeless Diver from Seiko! Love it. But I think it's WAY overprice for what you get. Yes, it's an upscale Seiko but it's more on the 'S' than 'GS' side if you ask me. Nevertheless I absolutely understand why you bought this, Bruce! If you really love a watch the price shouldn't be an issue (up to somewhat realistic limits, of course ;-)). Enjoy the 110!

You have gone through many watches, but I will always associate the MM300 and the Rolex Air King Reference 116900 to you and your channel.
Great review. I've come close to purchasing the more affordable mm200.
I like it but after I flipped my Black Bay Heritage due to thickness I don't think I could take another chance on a watch that thick.

You mentioned about having trouble with the sizing. But doesn't this watch have micro adjust? And I am not talking about the dive extension.
It has 4 micro adjustment holes, but I am still either uncomfortably tight or uncomfortably loose. Its right in-between the sizes. Dang long links
Never quite got the MM300. Haven’t tried it on in person though. Will never write off a watch without trying it on. Hated the look of the Willard, tried it on and bought it straight away, now it’s my favourite Seiko!
I think the weight of the MM300 is what puts me off the most, but I’d still love to try it.
