  • This walk explores the eastern end of Madeira, which has some of the finest cliff scenery in the island. The paths are good, but may vary depending on the conditions.
This peninsula is mainly made up of basalt, and there are some limestone formations. At the end of the Point are two islands, which are known as the Cevada and the Desembarcadouro Islet.
The peninsula and the Desembarcadouro Islet are both classified as partial natural reserves. The former is a total natural reserve, while the latter is a partial natural reserve. The semi-arid climate and the absence of trees contribute to the diversity of this region.
The island's basal plate presents numerous endemic and rare plants. There are also some of the largest colonies of seagulls in the region.
There are also numerous bird species that can be seen along the route. Some of these include the Goldfinch, the Common Canary, and the Kestrel.
There are also quite a few endemic land molluscs in this region, such as the Madeiran lizard, which is the island's only reptile. In the sea, there is also a rare sea-wolf called the Sea-Wolf.
