We Visited Carriacou 6 Months After Hurricane Beryl (Rebuild Update)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- When Hurricane Beryl struck the Caribbean, it left devastation in its wake on the small island of Carriacou, Grenada. Homes were shattered, livelihoods lost, and the close-knit community faced unimaginable challenges. For us, this story is personal-just 40 miles south, we rode out the storm on our sailboat, unsure of what the morning would bring.
Six months later, we return to Carriacou to witness the incredible progress and resilience of its people. From delivering supplies in the aftermath to raising over $130,000 through Rise Grenada, we’ve been inspired by the collective power of a global community united by hope and action.
Join us as we recount the storm, share the recovery efforts, and revisit the places and people who embody the spirit of rebuilding. This is more than a story of destruction-it's a testament to the strength of humanity when we come together to make a difference.

I was home last week and it was great to see that we will always keep going and that we will never turn an eye to help each other. Thank you for helping us get on our feet while we fell and continuing to do so.
Thank you so much - just wonderful people
I’m from Carriacou but I’m living in Trinidad since in the 60s WE thank you all for the awesome help you gave to the residents of Carriacou during that catastrophic time during the Beryl attack Gods blessings to everyone who made this possible❤❤
Thank you all for helping out. I live in Toronto Canada. My cousin lives in Carriacou. He has his own business and lost his boat, his livelihood. Froggy is the name of his boat. He's rebuilding, thank God. God bless you all 🙏❤
Wow amazing !! The Caribbean will always prevail . Most beautiful place on earth 🌍
Agree
6 months ? I passed you in November while you were on your way to Carriacou , how's that 6 months ?
@@adventurecrewsI passed you all going north from Grenada to Carriacou in November,, how's that 6 months ?
I do not understand your point. The hurricane made landfall on July 1, so it's now been right at 6 months since the hurricane.
LOL Thank you for following along so closely. This video was filmed in December.
Wonderful update!! We were last on Carriacou in April and will return this April. This captures the remarkable spirit of Carriacou's people and its returning natural beauty. Thank you to Rise and to all those who assisted like Samaritan's Purse, etc. God bless you!
This is really remarkable. Soon I will see for myself. Alyson is so nice. I hope her business comes back threefold. I wish nothing but the best for the other business merchants.
I'm from Grenada 🇬🇩 thank you guys for your generosity. It always amaze me the way people come together after disaster, the way they reach out to give a helping hand. Thank you
U all guys are great Jah bless
Imagine having your life & livelihood completely uprooted and still having a smile on your face. Our western society so easily takes what we have for granted, we have many more material items, but I am envious of their determination & love for life.
We couldn’t have said it better! You’re spot on.
Happy New Year!
Thank you for the update, I'm from Carriacou but have not been back since the passing of Beryl

Happy New Year!! Thank you for this update. We just bought our boat (a 50' monohull) and hope to be out on the deep blue sea later this year. Then we'll be learning by trial and error, just as you have done!

You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Hey guys thanks for the update. Your July video had our Lagoon 421 in it. It was the one in the haulout bay in the marina (destroyed). Next Chapter. It is great to see how people pull together in times like this.
We remember you saying that. I know 2024 was a very hard year for you losing both your boat and your wife Lynne. We’ve thought about you many times since your comment and will keep you in our prayers. 🙏🏼
Perfect, perfect perfect
I loved this! I don’t mean this insensitively but is it a good idea to still take day trips from mainland Grenada? Or is the island still struggling? Either way we will be donating to the relief efforts!
I hope you looked to see if the dog had not been left on its own and if it had you picked it up, and what u did for Grenada was brilliant xxx
We actually did pickup the dog and took it back to its owner ❤️
So awesome n beautiful 🎉🎉
Thank you! This island is beautiful and a special place to visit for sure!
Very nice,good heart❤
Thanks Andy we appreciate the positive vibes!
I'm coming to Grenada from the US with some friends next month. We have a place in Carriacou for 3 or 4 nights. I'll be bringing just a carry-on bag but is there anything I can pack down? I won't have a lot of room but I'll bring what I can. Im SO relieved that Tim's is still running! That's the thing I'm looking forward to the most!
Oh you will have a wonderful time! Just thinking in what could pack easily, I bet few packs of queen sized sheets would be greatly appreciated by some family’s
i enjoyed your 2024 review so i subscribed but could not find out how to go back to episode 1 so i can start at the beginning.
Wish you had episode 1- 40 i believe more people would watch your UA-cam videos.
Thanks guys great job.

Thank you to every single person who contributed to this mission. You can learn more about the projects here: www.risegrenada.org/our-projects
❤
I love this but please think of the people in the USA especially north Carolina and Tennessee that are. Living in tents with no water or bathrooms. If you can help please help both!
Union Island in the grenadines was hit harder
Its 6 months already!?
Can you inform us uf the big crewsers contributed to the recovery of the 2 devastated islands? Thank's for recap
I do not understand your question?
Hopefully our video promoting Rise Grenada made even the slightest difference!
Thank you so much for all your help! Every little bit did!
The Ferro-cement beachfront homes in Florida are unaffected by hurricanes. These homes are domes that are aerodynamic. Too bad you don't see more of them in the islands.
I actually think there is a rounded or dome like home on this island. Unfortunately I do not know anything about it or if it was affected.
Is it too late to donate?
No the GoFundMe is still open at this time. The remaining funds will go to anyone that applies and is approved for a grant based on the application process.
@@adventurecrews DONE!
Thank you guys!!
It is awesome what cruisers have done to help the folks in the islands. But I cant help but think of the Americans who recently lost everything due to a storm. All this love and support that has poured out for the folks in the islands. Meanwhile the folks in Georgia and the Carolinas are getting next to nothing. In fact, our emergency services is hampering rescue efforts.
