It’s depends on the move and how you’re training it - bruises usually go quite quickly after training and trying each move… the more you use your muscles to squeeze the less you’ll bruise (in some moves!) but again depends on the move and you!! There are plenty of moves that don’t bruise you at all though! Hopefully you don’t get too many bruises!
Hi! You can indeed :) Your hands will get used to gripping on to the pole. There are also different grips you can use if you're finding it too slippery to grip :)
I have literally no upper body strength and am on the larger size of body type. I would really like to do pole but know I need some strength before I go. Are there any exercises to work on strength before I book my first class.
i had this same worry at the time i started. i was overweight and didn’t have much upper body strength. they will work with whatever level of strength u have and ur strength will build throughout the classes! :)
I'm writing a book with a scene where the heroine (a soldier who has never done pole dancing or exotic dancing of any kind before) has to pass herself off as a pole dancer to keep from being arrested. Do you have any anecdotes about athletic first timers jumping into pole dancing without having taken a lesson first? Trying to assess how well she might be able to improvise and pass herself off as, at best, a mediocre dancer. Thanks in advance regardless of answer, and thanks for the video.
Hi! That's really interesting! It's usually pointing toes that people don't naturally think about - unless they have some sort of dance background. People who are athletic tend to be able lift themselves up easier! I hope that helps :)
i’m the same age & i’ve been really looking into this! i’m really happy to see i’m not completely crazy for wanting to give this a try. Absolutely i’m a year late, but hey tell me how it went lmao
Hailey Paletta I’m turning 16 in July and been pole dancing for about a year, my own home poles arriving tomorrow!! Honestly best thing I’ve taken up, do it! Xx
Do you know if there is a specific age limit? I really want to try but I don’t know if they’d let me... I turn 16 in April so should I wait until I’m 18? Xxx
What about sweaty hands ? 🙁 I've been on/off pole training since 2015 (end) and my hands always sweat like hell. Like I can't do transition between two moves.
I usually recommend trying to get used to poling as your hands will hopefully start to get used gripping, but as you've been poling for a while you're probably past that stage! So I firstly recommend washing your hands with cold water when you need to while poling to help with grip. You can also use grips such a x-dry or dry hands - you may have to try a few and see what works for you. I would say to try and not get addicted to grip if you can! For me I find that if I shower right before class or straighten my hair beforehand the conditioner / shower gel / oils etc makes me super slidey! So maybe there's something like that?
PoleFreaks well it's been a while for me true. But I don't practice continuously. Like every one month training maybe 2-3 month non training. So I think am not allowing my hand to get used to the grip, plus my strength is zero. I got some products from everything pole dancing.com to help grip, sometimes I use them and sometimes i don't. But maybe being in United Arab Emirates ( so hot) help sweating more.
I do find it harder to pole when it's really hot - so that's when I tend to stick to leg grips. Hopefully if you keep going with it, it'll help with your grip :D
I have exactly the same problem with super sweaty hand and super sweaty thighs. Several of my pole instructors (and also the owner of the studio I'm poling in) told me that it definitely improves with time and I feel already that it's better than before. The owner of the studio also told me that she used to have the same problem, but you need to work through it! And now she is so freaking awesome! I also started two weeks ago using a bit of product to reduce sweating on the hands that I bought at the pharmacy and you apply once a week. It works well, but dries my hand much more than I expected so I am using it less than once a week and need to put cream on them much more than before during the week. Not sure I will keep using it. Good luck with that! It's super frustrating not to be able to stick but keep going! It does get better.

My upper body strength is nonexistent. I will be doing my first pole class soon.😊😊
Yay, how exciting! You will get so strong so quickly 💪
Omg, it took me a long time to get my chair spin too. Now I mastered it and I love it.
Yay!! I remember just trying to hop around for so long trying to get that Chair. I just love it now :D Xx
I struggle so much with the chair spin. I'm usually lucky if I can get half a spin around before I'm down.
Oh wow ! That’s great !
I'm staring tomorrow super super nerves
Yay! I'm so glad it went well :D (reading your other comment :D )

you move so elegant. beautiful
Aww thank you so much! 😘
how long does it take for the bruises to go away and also for the bruising to stop as you get used to pole?
It’s depends on the move and how you’re training it - bruises usually go quite quickly after training and trying each move… the more you use your muscles to squeeze the less you’ll bruise (in some moves!) but again depends on the move and you!! Can I pole dance if my hands are always sweating?
Hi! You can indeed :) Your hands will get used to gripping on to the pole. There are also different grips you can use if you're finding it too slippery to grip :)
PoleFreaks thanks for replying 😊

It's so exciting you want to try pole :D You don't need any particular level of strength to join a class :D

I’m 16 am I too young? It looks fun
It’s really fun! You can definitely try this - hopefully you can find a class local to you to get you started 😀
I liked your video 👍👍
Thank you :D
im 15, just bought a pole and my mom is going to put me in a class, am I like way to young?
Hi! I would just make sure that your instructor is qualified to teach those under 18 so you know you're in safe hands :D
i’m the same age & i’ve been really looking into this! i’m really happy to see i’m not completely crazy for wanting to give this a try. Absolutely i’m a year late, but hey tell me how it went lmao
I’m the same age and I’d love to learn but my parents would run my ass over
I’m 13 and I’ve just booked lessons, so excited that I’m not even bothered what people think aha
Hailey Paletta I’m turning 16 in July and been pole dancing for about a year, my own home poles arriving tomorrow!! Honestly best thing I’ve taken up, do it! Xx

My studio has an all ages class, check and see if anywhere near you does as well! 😁
The echo is hard to understand thru
Shorts ?
I want to but I have a bit of a tummy and feel self conscious
Teresa Davis Aww I put off starting for a year or so but wished I’d just started when I wanted to. I’m sure you’ll love it when you go ❤️
Did you end up going?
What's the age minimum for a pole class?
Sofia Ivanova Elvira I can teach most ages in private’s classes but 18+ in group classes - it all depends on the studio you go to though 😀
PoleFreaks Ok thanks 😂 gotta wait a few more years then 😢
What about sweaty hands ? 🙁

I have a belly piercing. Could that be a problem to do pole dance?
Hi! Loads of people have belly piercings and do pole :) Most moves you'll be absolutely fine with :D
