    I noticed that the seat mimicked the bank angle which means that you would feel the lean throughout a turn which is unrealistic. Your ear feels the initial motion but once you are established in a coordinated turn the forces are normal to the wings so you would feel no leaning tendency. Most airline simulators use a thing called “washout” Where once the bank is established the lean is imperceptibly removed back to vertical.This may be a fun ride but for a pilot it would feel very unrealistic if the banking lien is maintained in a turn.Fortunately all this could be fixed with the correct software driving the seat.

      So do you mean that the 3DOF version is enough ?

    • @paulreeder5241
      @paulreeder5241 2 роки тому

      UH, yes you would know you were leaning. If your aircraft is in a constant banking turn, you will feel the banking the entire time in this chair. Because the chair will be leaning with you in it? In a partial turn, the aircraft would become level again after the turn.

    • @cecielhelder5923

      Even my Geforcefactory Edge6D has this issue when not programmed properly. It’s really a matter of programming. When you start the turn the seat should bank and pitch up to simulate back pressure g’s. Once the the bank has been established it should slowly roll back to level but keep the pitch up so you won’t feel the lean in the coordinated bank and continue to feel G’s. As you roll out of the bank it should slowly decrease pitch and set on the roll back in the other direction and slowly roll back to level. I only got mine a few weeks ago so still figuring out how to fine tune. It’s going to be interesting because for an observer the seats motion is not agreeing with what they see on the screen. The 20 million dollar class D sim I train in for work does have all this worked out so I know it’s possible. When I push the throttles forward in that one, it pitches up and pushes me back in the seat to simulate acceleration. As the aircraft speeds up it slowly, unbeknownst to the pilot flying, pitches down to level again. When the aircraft rotates it heaves and pitches. It’ll take some doing and trial and error but I’ll figure it out. So can the yaw vr programmers.

    Only problem I see with this is that if used for racing games, since almost every circuit I know of runs clock-wise, and if you do say 50 laps, then that's 50 rotations, and the cord to the VR head-set would get twisted.

    • @YawVR
      @YawVR  3 роки тому +1

      Hi wjrneo2,
      You can limit your yaw movement.
      Let's say you limit yaw to 180 degrees. This means that you reach the end of the entire circle at 180 degrees (or at 0 degrees). So you never go a full circle. Also, we made cable management easier so no cables get tangled even if you want to go NASCAR.

    I'd love to see the needle and ball (slip indicator), because the roll of your chair indicates your are not making coordinated turns, not using your rudder pedals. If you were, the chair should remain level, 1 G felt straight down through the floor of the aircraft, as it would be felt in an actual airplane. Without a coordinated turn, than yes, you'd be in a slip and feel you're being pushed to one side if the aircraft and the chair would simulate that. If the chair always rolls, whether in a coordinated turn or not, than it's not realistic.
    Oh, and horrible landing.

    • @ernestwinslow7316
      @ernestwinslow7316 3 роки тому

      I did notice the constant round turn of the chair when there was no yaw input. If there was a yaw input, the rotation movement speed in comparison to input would be too fast from my observation. The chair turns around but the aircraft is not doing the same coordinated spin in the sim. That spin would be have been realistic in a helicopter hovering and turning. This nonetheless is a very interesting piece of equipment to have.

    not sure why it was designed with legs and feet so far up.... there is not a single plane would sit like that (and would problemize rudder/feet coordination), it is clearly an arcade style racing thing. And with all motion flight simulators, it is the software that needs to be 100% correct or you would get very quickly negative learning (in yours: wash out is clearly is missing and latency seems a problem), but indeed a nifty design.

The sim seems to have a 1:1 correlation with the aircraft attitude - 10 deg of bank and the sim is banked 10 degrees - that's not how forces act on the human body. Your programmer(s) need to read a few books on human physiology and also how modern sims replicate those forces. Can be fixed with software updates.
