The guy who plays Bob/Sentry, Lewis Pullman, played a fighter pilot also named Bob in Top Gun: Maverick, and he is even introduced similarly to that movie, just accidentally sneaking up on the others
@@mrmatticus9693 Instead of Marvel's 5,000th variation of "We're representing OPPRESSED MINORITIES... who can, and do, kill average people with almost no effort and minimal consequences."
YES!!!!! I'm in your camp on the Eternals, it was a good movie. What I like about this trailer, is showing us that lack of purpose. I mean, if you're not one of the Avengers, what do you do with your abilities? They didn't really seem to have a B Team, so what do people like this do?
I remember when people were losing their minds that the Avengers was gonna be a thing in 2012. The MC really is a whole U right now, it’s actually insane. It truly is like live action comics now, but its own run. And like comics, it’s got hits and misses. But wow, I wonder if Sebastian Stan knew how long he’d be doing this when he signed up to be Bucky in Cap 1 (2011). The bigger the MCU gets, the more nostalgic Iron Man 1 feels. I still remember seeing it opening night with my dad. If I’d only known…
Glad you got this back up after YT's block-fest this morning. I had zero expectations and I think it looks interesting. Lots of questions about the asterisk and I've heard one theory that seems the most likely scenario but I'm not gonna share it because I think most people will want to find out at the appropriate time. I'm with you Clarus... I would watch this for Ms. Pugh alone.
I thought the trailer was great! I think there is a difference between genre/tone/vibe/etc and cinematography. I think for a while, Marvel couldn't see the forest for the trees in that respect. It's the same thing when certain Star Wars projects are done well; it's not a "Star Wars western", it's a Western story in the Star Wars universe. This is the gritty but more elevated marvel story (what we enjoyed about Dare Devil, Punisher, and other Netflix shows but those were a more "street" level). I am excited to see these characters get their time to shine in this film. You are also so right about the humor; it's not just "US AGENT: What happened to bulletproof?" There is subtlety and nuance that the actors bring to the humor (even in the not so funny-funny moments) that make the jokes land better and feel like actual moments the audience can connect to in a fantastical movie. Dare I say, there is a whisper of what made Guardians great without it leaning too hard into the obvious action/comedy side of things.
I bet the asterisk on the name is because the team is going to be billed as an Avengers team in the story so much that they don’t want to just call them Thunderbolts.
I do wish they were doing the “bad guys pretend to be good guys and end up becoming heroes” that the comic version had, but I think I’d be cool if they do a version of the Ultimates/Ultimate Avengers storyline where they bring in the black ops/wetworks “heroes” to become more public rebranded HEROES (with a lil bit more govt control, of course)
Was wondering when you’d do this trailer reaction Nerdy Nightly. Nevertheless, thank you for doing it. A few things to say about this movie, now that this trailer is out, based on what we’ve seen so far: - Hoping this movie’s Rated R (as was rumored since last December), even in the wake of the $1.3B success of Deadpool & Wolverine, or hard PG-13 to do characters like Ghost or Sentry (ESPECIALLY when he becomes The Void) justice. - This is the same 3.5-minute trailer from Comic-Con (NOT D23 because it wasn’t shown there), but with some differences, mainly we don’t see Alexei belt out “ENOUGH TALK,” we don’t see Alexei’s speech in the car at the end where he cheers up the team, and we don’t see Yelena jumping off the Merdeka 118 tower, which was filmed in Malaysia and is practical, per Florence Pugh. - Also it looks like Val is indeed the owner of Avengers Tower, which means we’ll finally get the “who owned Avengers Tower” question answered. - And out of all the characters on the team, I’m curious to see how Ghost fits in on the team, given the team is all characters from Black Widow or Captain America fare, except Ghost because she’s a villain from Ant-Man and the Wasp, an Ant-Man movie villain, and that’s what fascinates me the most about her inclusion in the movie. - Also, I wonder if the Thunderbolts* title has an asterisk there because the team will become The Secret Avengers at the end of the movie, whereas Sam Wilson will form the New Avengers at the end of Captain America: Brave New World (since he won’t wanna follow Ross’s idea to have a government-sponsored team of Avengers) and we’ll see them again (alongside the Fantastic 4 and hopefully Deadpool) in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
The fact that this trailer looks just good... Like an actually good movie trailer. The lighting is on point, theres no humour that feels really out of place and the characters all look appropriately badass. If this movie manages to fix Taskmaster, then this might as well be a slam dunk for me.
My theory on the *⃣ is that they end up naming the team the dark avengers... i mean valentina bought the avengers tower and this seems to better fit with the dark avengers than the thunderbolts in the comics...
The reference to using Bob's name for Sentry is a nice touch. But it would be even more sickening if he unleashed his full potential and didn't lower himself just because the same level that the script says wants it that way. Otherwise, it would be disappointing!!!
I'm hoping Marvel finds it's 2016-2019 footing again and we break the chain of "good-bad-good-bad" when it comes to the movies. I've liked most of them, but I do see why people have problems with some
Ok yes I'll be the unkind one.... I (almost) jokingly referred to this trailer as the the marvel B cast suicide squad. Im getting similar downer vibes (to the first movie not the second). Sure there is talent to spare but most of these characters I cared very little about even when they appeared in their original debuts. This is being promoted as a cast of super villains but most (to steal a phrase) are barely an inconvenience & this first trailer fails (imho) to show me why I should care.
This trailer for a movie I had zero interest in feels like a breath of fresh air for Marvel. Without the CGI overload Marvel has become dependent on while somehow simultaneously getting worse at, it has the opportunity to feel grounded and not cartoonish. The lighting can be more natural. The actors can act with real people instead of foam heads with dots all over them. Hopefully it will carry a strong "Winter Soilder" vibe.
I do think it looks good, and I'm going to see it. But the trailer didn't really hook me and was a little confusing. If I didn't already know the characters, I'd be very uninterested. Still very disappointed with what they did to Tasky.
probably because non marvel fans do not know anything about those heroes(?)/villains(?). Thunderbolts? Never heard about it, are those special screws for tires? So they cannot use the same flashy mechanics like they did for the well known superhero films.
John Walker aka US Agent was briefly Captain America in the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier before he lost his head or rather someone else’s 🤓
Sorta but not quite? Suicide Squad was about villains taking on a mission to reduce their prison sentences and being kept in line with bombs implanted in their necks. Thunderbolts is about a bunch in-between characters seeking to reinvent themselves and actually become something else. Which is the underpinning concept of the original book.
Anybody noticed the '*' after THUNDERBOLTS ,instead of TM? Why is that ,unless it's a reference from the comics which I never have read about this squad.
