He actually broke his foot on that boat scene. IIRC, he miscalculated the gap and got his foot caught between the boat and the bridge support.
Practically every movie he made, he'd get hurt one way or another

Jackie Chan is the goat of action Stars! What I remember most about him is the fight scene in the movie Cannonball Run when I was a kid

Jackie was raised in a sholin temple learning Kung fu, there's a clip of at 10 or 11 doing a demonstration at the white house back in the day.

He did NOT grow up in a Shaolin Temple. He was indentured to the Peking Opera School at the age of 6 by his parents who left him alone there by moving to Australia (3,000 miles away) for work. The contract that they signed more or less sold Jackie to Master Yuen to do with whatever it took to train him up to & including DEATH without any legal repercussions for 10 years. Jackie endured years of daily physical, mental, & emotional torture & near starvation in the process of "learning his art". It's no wonder that this ruthless & brutal "training" produced such a skilled and tenacious individual who can work through an intense amount of pain while striving for perfection.

This kind of training would be considered child abuse by todays standards
