How to replace the HEPA filter on your Rainbow Vacuum Cleaner. For years the Rainbow Vacuums claim was that water makes for a great filter instead of using a bag. In addition to the water, when Rexair introduced the Rainbow E2 model it added a HEPA Filter to the exhaust.This filter should be replace regularly. Rainbow Vacuums require regular maintenance. Filters, belts, Brushrolls should be replaced and the machine should be cleaned, deodorized and disinfected. My folks bought one in the 90s and I dusted it off to use as shop vac and stove ash sucker . Just recently started squealing and losing suction. I’ll do filter and hope it’s as simple as that. I’m thinking some lube is needed on a bearing to stop the squeal.

My rainbow e series is blowing the air out the house intake, and sucking in through the HEPA filter side. Operating backwards. That dude, I should be able to inflate an air bed, for instance, I totally don't get what's going on. The water is spinning. I haven't used it in years, but it was working properly. I get a hint of burnt smell. Any suggestions?
So I don’t know how this would happen but the carbon brushes could be flipped. Try taking it to a vac shop and mention that to them. Hope this helps have a nice day 😊
