Wow they were pretty similar. But you can tell the JW speaker one was made with more quality and care. I will always try to support American companies first. The price point is pretty crazy though how one can be so low and the other is so high. I think you pay some for quality but I still think JW Speaker could bring their price down some.
Show me the made in USA stamp on the injection molds and I would gladly pay for the JW's. Unfortunatley, I bet they're both made in a China factory, possibly the same one, JW just pays to have their logo and finishing touches applied. Therefore where Lightway pays perhaps $28 a set, JW probably pays $32 a set. One company just has a markup of 200% vs 800%. No thank you... Regardless GREAT review TR, thanks!
JW Speaker lights are manufactured in Germantown WI. I know because I work there and mold these lights! I think Dan must work for a Chinese company, or he doesn't know how to look up corporate web pages on the internet
Installed my JW Speaker tail lights yesterday and they look great. I went the same route as a lot of folks and purchased the Amazon Chinese led lights. a year and a half later they were faded and pealing. Never again, American made for me!!
Thanks for showing install on driver side, your only video that does, I was confused with the two sets of wires , you made it clear for me to install. Thank you
I saw these on another rig while I was driving out around Florida and I was very impressed, had to do some research of my own and didn't know wether to get the cheap ones or the JW but decided to go with the JW after ur review, thanks a lot for the comparison man can't wait to install them on mine!
I've been following you guys watching some of the things you've been doing. today I went to install my Liteway lights, and was trying to figure out what the brackets we're for (didn't come with instructions) and bam! Here you are! Thanks for the review and install!
Hey I have been watching you videos for a wile now and I gotta same I'm a huge fan. There always high quality and I learn something new every video. Thanks for taking the time to make these!
Thank you very much for taking the time to do this video I actually was going to get the rugged ridge LED taillights and then I came across JW Speaker which I know they are an amazing company and I'm so glad you did this comparison with the LightWay versus JW because I'm now purchasing the JW
Wish there was a daylight brightness comparison. I see so many vehicles where the applied LED brake lights are so dim that I am surprised they haven't been crashed into yet.
nice review, I like JW better,my big concern is just how long they would last, sure they both work when new but what about months down the road will the china stuff hold up, warranty???
Great review and great info. Based on this I spent the $ and grabbed the speakers. I have never been disappointed by paying a few bucks more for quality. Hopefully they hold up. Install was a breeze and like you I really like the way they look. Thanks for the video.
Great video! Helped me make up my mind to get the JWs. I currently have some Chinese LED tails on my JK, and I don't trust the build quality. Had similar issues with alignment, too. Keep the great videos coming, and have a great holiday!
I love the side by side comparison!!! in the vid the JW certainly appears to be a little brighter...Id love to see a "blind" comparison though...sometimes I agree with spending on quality where it counts.....not sure if I would personally pay that much more for a similar product...but if I had a large disposable income I'd do all top of the line...lol
Whatever makes you feel better! As for me I went for the Chinese version I bought off of amazon not knowing they were knock offs. But with the cash I saved, I was able to get grab bars, led arrow headlights, and a grill! All for you Nader $350
Brad love your reviews. I was looking for some tail lights and saw the same ones you reviewed on eBay. Your review really helped and they really are similar but i think ill spend the extra money and go American with JW. Thanks so much for the time you spend helping all of us. By the way i found the JWs for 190.00 + 10.00 shipping
Nice comparison video, Brad. It's a tough call to decide price over quality on this one. Even if the cheaper light does not last as long as the JW Speaker, if I had to buy another brand new set of lights after hard trail use, I am still at a lower price point. Hmm...
Morning from NY Brad. Installed my Aries action trac running board yesterday only to speak to customer service cause my doors closed and the boards would deploy and when I opened the doors the runners would close lol. Customer service explained I had the batch with the bad sensors. Sending me new ones. I also installed the S-pod thanks to you lol. Easiest set up ever! I have a Batam system which is easiest and I just love the touch screen. Well until Friday for the new sensors being rushed to me 😁. Now on this wonderful video which makes mine and my Jeep savor over those JW lights. I’ve looked into back and front on those and AGAIN unfortunately for the JL owners we have to wait for production and when I spoke to someone over at JW company.... Well the bad news is they haven’t even started to look at the JL lights yet and they said they would even start looking at the lights forJL at least after Dec Jan. Don’t know if they are messing with me or just a surprise coming round the corner? The surprise is just not happing and no one is messing with me and I only believe that cause I know my UN patient self. Ok so I’m going to try and see maybe this company Lite-Way LED maybe in the JL Model. Not going to get excited cause I’ve exhausted all my energy on internet and nothing comparable to those JW. What a product! Totally love the taillights .....headlights also😁 Once again another great video! 👍👍👍👍👍 5 thumbs up outta 5 🤗
Sorry to hear about your running board experience. I haven't talked to many manufacturers yet that are working on lights for the JL. I think the problem is that Jeep actually did a good job with the front and rear OEM lights this time. Thanks!
Love the comparison...I see the $250 price for black Friday type deals or "blowout" deals, but the Jw's normally go for way more than $250. So if you take the regular price of like $300+ versus $98 bucks I'm not sure it's worth it, but the real question is how well do they hold up over time for $98 bucks. I just might have to add the Lite-Ways to the gift list for christmas.
All I can find on Amazon is the "blacked out" JW Speaker tail light set. I like the idea of the additional back up light output, but I'm not big on the blacked out look. If I look elsewhere I do find a "non-blacked out" version but it's about 30 bucks more...makes no sense to me. Ah well, I'm saving up for a Genesis Offroad dual battery kit and batteries right now....I want an ARB fridge next. I'm tired of doing overland trips with a cooler and ice.
Wow, I hadn't actually looked up the nonblack out version... not worth an extra $30 for sure! I have been eye balling the Genesis dual battery kit for a while... it's on my list as well!
I'm all for buying American. The difference was noticeable but not sure it's worth the extra $200. I think it might be knowing you can call someone right here in the U.S. if you have an issue. To me, the selling point is the brightness of the back up lights. Thanks for another great review. Your opinion matters to a lot of people. I'm sure you know that by now. I'm in for a giveaway if it happens....just sayin' Keep the videos coming my friend!
I ordered the Liteways to save a few bucks. BAD idea. They came with scuffs, chips and covered in Black magic marker to cover up all the scratches. And yes it was through Amazon. Guess I'm saving for the JW Speakers now.
The J W Speakers look great and work great, just wish the footprint was the same as factory housing. Apparently one of my factory housings was a litte loose, and it rubbed thru the paint, and the 1/4-1/2" LESS coverage of the J W Speaker does not cover it up.
I have the Liteway and love them. my Jeep came stock blacked out in matte black so it was a prefect add on. I just couldn't justify spending 250 on tail lights when the others got the job done. if you smash them on a trail 80 bucks later and you have a new set vs 250 for a new JW Speaker set. but that's my opinion.
FYI, I have been running these for over a year with no issues. they are about as bright with the reverse light as stock so that is the only thing I don't like. but no complains and I get a lot of compliments. I'm going to add a secondary back up light to brighten it up so that will fix it for me.
thank you for the detailed install including mounting that bracket thingy that gets hot bcs i'd of had no clue...I'm replacing my taillights (not with the same ones as you) and was looking for a how to video...thank you so much! i love how at 4:10 you "simply" push that tab to release it and my lady thumbs are not strong enough XD gonna have to use a screwdriver or something. man hands are so helpful. thanks again for the helpful video
JwSpeaker for me. I need a brighter reverse light for one....& 2, i like the fack that the wires on the inside are better protected against the elements.
Great video and thank you for the review. Im going amazon. No reason to spend 3 times the amount just for the finish and adding one good light bar on the roof will take care of the luz meter issue. Plan on buying the light bar from amazon too :)
JW Speaker is little bit brighter on the brake and reverse, I say JW speaker all the way, support American and make America great 👍, I have JW Speaker headlights and fog lights on both of my Jeeps.
Did you contact JW Speaker with a business proposition where the lights were free under the stipulation you would endorse them at the end? If so it prohibits an honest recommendation. I'm all for supporting quality American-made products, especially those made in my home state, but $329.59 (from their website) is obviously not competitive or they wouldn't be in this situation or the results would have been more drastic.
Seriously wondering if the so called "American company tail light" was made in the US? Also if you do call some one about the tail light will you get some in the Philippines whe you call? Over all excellent re reviews. I would by the US tail light if you dont have to use the reducer--only reason that make sense to me. China tail light runs hot.
Man, that is a great question and now that you mention it I really should have don't that... maybe I'll find an extra couple minutes in my day and put an old one in and measure it. Thanks!
I have jw speaker on my jk american made is my way ,also the comparison jw quality better and tad bit brighter and looks little darker also and matches jeep little better and reverse light brighter also.
TrailRecon I really like that you tested the light output. I was debating the knock off, but will go with the originals. Sucks in Canada they are about double the price thought. Almost $500
Remember way back when you had VHS players and there where hundreds of name brands out there but only three factories that built them and slapped different company names on them .I think this is whats going on here and its all coming out of the same factory in China your just paying for the name
JW seems way over priced imo. It's some LEDs and a plastic housing. I bet 90% of the price is just for the brand name. Personally I'd go with the Chinese nock offs. They're just signal lights, not headlights. The brightness doesn't really matter.
All these people talking about US vs China built. Jeep is now having china build the cherokee and the Renegade as of 2016. Blurred lines. If your pocket book allows you to pay more then go ahead. I buy from China all the time and do not feel guilty at all. I support local small business but just because is says Made In the USA does not mean they are a patriotic company.
They both looks the same gives u the same style, u can't tell which is brighter, doesn't matter which plastic shinier u can always detail that...n as long as the driver behind me sees my lights is all that matters...why would I pay an extra $200 dollars or $300 ..I can buy 3 extra pair of taillights if one goes bad...I can save that extra money to buy other things for my Jeep...ijs .lol...I'm going with neither of those cause I seen the exact ones on eBay for $60 ..lol..
As much as I like to buy American and support American companies, I can't bring myself to spend my hard earned American dollars frivolously. As the review pointed out, the difference isn't that great, just in the price point. As far as customer service goes, if I thought that spending the extra money on American made would get me better Customer Service, well, we all know that doesn't hold true at all.
Wow they were pretty similar. But you can tell the JW speaker one was made with more quality and care. I will always try to support American companies first. The price point is pretty crazy though how one can be so low and the other is so high. I think you pay some for quality but I still think JW Speaker could bring their price down some.
100% agree!

JW Speaker lights are manufactured in Germantown WI. I know because I work there and mold these lights! I think Dan must work for a Chinese company, or he doesn't know how to look up corporate web pages on the internet
JW Speaker lights come with a lifetime guarantee.
D Pacheco actually their led lights have a 5 year warranty.
Installed my JW Speaker tail lights yesterday and they look great. I went the same route as a lot of folks and purchased the Amazon Chinese led lights. a year and a half later they were faded and pealing. Never again, American made for me!!
Love the side by side comparison. Great review! Thx.
Thanks!!
I go out of my way to buy American. When you buy quality, you only cry once. Great video.
Buy once, cry once! Just bought the JW Speakers and can’t wait to get them installed. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for showing install on driver side, your only video that does, I was confused with the two sets of wires , you made it clear for me to install.
Thank you
Definitely fair and honest. Going with the JW Speakers myself and for all the same reasons. Thanks for the great side by side review.
Where talking about tail lights not trans parts or engine parts why spend twice as much on something that wont leave you on foot ?
I saw these on another rig while I was driving out around Florida and I was very impressed, had to do some research of my own and didn't know wether to get the cheap ones or the JW but decided to go with the JW after ur review, thanks a lot for the comparison man can't wait to install them on mine!

Jon, thank you, I really appreciate it! I think I learn something new ever video as well! I'll do my best to keep'em coming.
I always go with American when it comes to my jeep
Lovin your jeep more and more now!
You and me both! Thanks!
Matthew Nikkila it's not about feeling comfortable it's about supporting fellow Americans jobs.
mm California I could give a fuck about American jobs
@@TrailRecon It happens to me that I step on the brake and at the same time the turn and only marks the brake. is there a way to fix it?
Thank you very much for taking the time to do this video I actually was going to get the rugged ridge LED taillights and then I came across JW Speaker which I know they are an amazing company and I'm so glad you did this comparison with the LightWay versus JW because I'm now purchasing the JW
No companies with my JW's! You'll love'em!
Thanks for the comparison. The lite way looks pretty tempting especially for the price.
For the price, I don't think you can beat it. Thanks!
Wish there was a daylight brightness comparison. I see so many vehicles where the applied LED brake lights are so dim that I am surprised they haven't been crashed into yet.
Great video once again! Been torn on this decision for a while now! You just made it easy for me.
Thank you, glad this video was helpful!
nice review, I like JW better,my big concern is just how long they would last, sure they both work when new but what about months down the road will the china stuff hold up, warranty???
I agree, a very valid concern. Thanks!
Great review and great info. Based on this I spent the $ and grabbed the speakers. I have never been disappointed by paying a few bucks more for quality. Hopefully they hold up. Install was a breeze and like you I really like the way they look. Thanks for the video.
Great choice and thank you!
I just installed the lite-way tail lights, wasn't sure where to install the brass piece, your video helped a lot appreciate it
Great video! Helped me make up my mind to get the JWs. I currently have some Chinese LED tails on my JK, and I don't trust the build quality. Had similar issues with alignment, too. Keep the great videos coming, and have a great holiday!
Awesome, glad this was helpful for you! Thank and you have a great holiday as well!
The JW Speaker lights were noticeably brighter and better quality. Thanks for the great comparison review.
Thanks for the comments man. I'll have to give the blind comparison a thought in the future.
Whatever makes you feel better! As for me I went for the Chinese version I bought off of amazon not knowing they were knock offs. But with the cash I saved, I was able to get grab bars, led arrow headlights, and a grill! All for you Nader $350
Thank you very much for uploading this video; you answered one of the technical questions I had!
Yep, you made the right decision!! The JWSpeakers are THE way to go!! Good job with the side by side demo!!
I have the JW Speaker too on my Rubicon, they are great 👍🏻
killed me that you didn't wipe off the dirt before putting the new ones on!
Thought it was just me...lol thanks
He’s also not keeping them on permanently. Just for the sake of comparison.
I am all for American but I have the lite ways and they are flawless. Over a year of abuse and being stored outdoors in Michigan. No problems.
Brad love your reviews. I was looking for some tail lights and saw the same ones you reviewed on eBay. Santa better bring me all kinds of Jeep goodies this year!
Really appreciate your channel. Thank you for the help and keeping some of the things that are a little confusing simple for me.
Great video. Surprising. I have never seen that brand. Great review and I think you just made that Lite Way sale!
I suppose there will be plenty of folk the will prefer the Lite-Way.... tough to beat the price. Thanks!
my jw speakers been on for a year love them. paid $340 for mine on QUADRATEC
Great to hear they are still running strong!
LoL $340 for tail lights wow. No way
Thanks for comparison. I'll wait and place a hold on my impulsivity and wait for the amount necessary for the shine. 👍
My wife got me the JW Speaker Tail Lights and I think they are just great.

I'd be curious to know what the retail price is on these lights. I'm sure the wholesale markup is pretty big. Thanks!
I ordered the Liteways to save a few bucks. BAD idea. They came with scuffs, chips and covered in Black magic marker to cover up all the scratches. And yes it was through Amazon. Guess I'm saving for the JW Speakers now.

Yes very good review. glad I saw this first before I purchased!
I know I am late, but to me the JW Speaker light was brighter on turn signal and on the brake lights. So JW Speaker is the on I would buy.
thank you for the detailed install including mounting that bracket thingy that gets hot bcs i'd of had no clue...I'm replacing my taillights (not with the same ones as you) and was looking for a how to video...thank you so much! i love how at 4:10 you "simply" push that tab to release it and my lady thumbs are not strong enough XD gonna have to use a screwdriver or something. man hands are so helpful. thanks again for the helpful video
If you see carefully the right hand one is subtly flickering like florescent light
Now what do you think after 2 years?
Great review👍👍 love the channel
Thank you, appreciate it!
I noticed the sticker at the end, where you a master cheif in the navy?
Excellent review...Professionally done...Thanks!
Subscribed for buying both.
JwSpeaker for me. I need a brighter reverse light for one....& 2, i like the fack that the wires on the inside are better protected against the elements.
Curious where the jw are made. Looks like same factory just differences in some materials much like a lot of other products.
I love your office with the JK behind you hehehe
I had one these cheap tail lights for 5 years right side just died on me yesterday. Only problem reverse light is very dim.
Do I smell another giveaway? Those lights would be nice on my rig ;)
LOL.... I knew someone was going to ask what am I going to do with the other light..........
The yellow load resistor is to add a load close to stock voltage or else you will have a hyper fast flashing tail light .
Both Jeeps... you are a luck man!
It happens to me that I step on the brake and at the same time the turn and only marks the brake. is there a way to fix it?
Did you contact JW Speaker with a business proposition where the lights were free under the stipulation you would endorse them at the end? If so it prohibits an honest recommendation. I'm all for supporting quality American-made products, especially those made in my home state, but $329.59 (from their website) is obviously not competitive or they wouldn't be in this situation or the results would have been more drastic.
GREAT VIDEO!!! The cheaper one no-brainer
I’ve noticed in every video of yours that I have watch you always go with the more pricey option.
Awesome Demo, thank you.
Jay Dubya, no doubt !
JW Speaker hands down looks better!
American made all the way
Agreed!
So you can buy 3 sets of the cheaper lights for the price of 1 jw set
Great video, TrailRecon. Would you happen to know the lux readings on the stock reverse tail lights?
Man, that is a great question and now that you mention it I really should have don't that... maybe I'll find an extra couple minutes in my day and put an old one in and measure it. Thanks!
Right on. Thanks for the feedback. Now I have to decide which lights to go with. hmm....
I have jw speaker on my jk american made is my way ,also the comparison jw quality better and tad bit brighter and looks little darker also and matches jeep little better and reverse light brighter also.
Dead link on the lite-way but good video.
You were fair... you did a good review...
Thank's, great review
Thank you!!
This really helped me to go out today and buy my JW's :D
Great review! Just for that i will suscribe to your channel.
Great video! 🤙🏽aloha from Oahu, HI.
it has been almost a year since you posted this, any further problems concerns? Thanks in advanced Master Chief!
Great video.
Thank you!
TrailRecon I really like that you tested the light output. I was debating the knock off, but will go with the originals. Sucks in Canada they are about double the price thought. Almost $500
good video ! cheers !
Thank you!
did you clean behind the light before you put the new light in?
Nope.... maybe one of these days I'll get back there and clean up.
Were you on the BHR before?
I was from 2007-2010.... did you serve on board?
JW Speaker!!!
What roof rack do you have? Thanks
Smittybilt Defender... love it! ua-cam.com/video/KCaQ5Ro3AA0/v-deo.html
Light both version underwater - LED's work underwater.
Very fair and honest video. Thank you so much! I just subscribed to your channel and I will do the same on facebook.
nice
Thank you!
I watched this and went cheap... I'll let you know how it goes
For sure, would love to hear how they hold up. Thanks!
robertd10481 how they holding up
Remember way back when you had VHS players and there where hundreds of name brands out there but only three factories that built them and slapped different company names on them .I think this is whats going on here and its all coming out of the same factory in China your just paying for the name
Someone can steal your lights so easy
KINGKJ2REAL yeah they could lol
KINGKJ2REAL buy some tampered proof Torx screws , most people don't have them on hand when they try to steal them.
Misterrc L
Thanks for the tip.
Sincerely, Mr light stealer
aguyandhiscomputer- I bought mine from Amazon stainless steel tampered proof torx screw, make sure it has dot in the center.
jw speaker way better product. but you get what you pay for
You almost always get what you pay for, sometime you can make out not buying the brand name... just not in this case.
plot twist, the rear lights are not speakers?
Right side . You said left side .me right .
Every product has its knock off
you sold me at American made.
Oorah!
JW seems way over priced imo. It's some LEDs and a plastic housing. I bet 90% of the price is just for the brand name. Personally I'd go with the Chinese nock offs. They're just signal lights, not headlights. The brightness doesn't really matter.
