Tarek Fateh has talked about the abject and despicable casteism that exists in our society ().
He has never said anything derogatory about any religion or holy scriptures.
He has shown mirror to the Indians about intolerance telling them how we treat people who are poor , less fortunate or do lesser skilled job than oneself.
He has been appealing to our Muslim brothers not to follow the Imams blindly and hold him as guardian of religion. In stead asking every individual to understand the tenets of religion and practice in their own life.
He is emphasising every one to be proud of being Indian, protect its culture, uphold the constitution.
He is pleading people to not to make faith as a matter of political beliefs.
If we can understand Tarek Fateh, we can definitely build a more cohesive, inclusive, harmonious and integrated society.

Taslima Nasreen lived in Calcutta for more than a decade. Calcutta was always her 2nd home. She fled Bangladesh during 1993-94 after her novel Lajja was released. According to Tarek Fatah, India does not listen to Javed Akhtar. Javed Akhtar is progressive and very inimical against Mullahs. Tarek should admit that India has its own standards to judge who is Muslim leader that in fact representative of majority of Muslims. Indian government has to have peace in their nation and even though its policies have pauperized Muslims, it has given them the public favor of keeping their religious freedom. This is Indian government's own stick and carrot approach to Muslim affairs.

A lot of it that he says is unsubstantiated.
Most Indians do not read books, so they believe whatever is being said on TV channels.
That is what makes them different from a Western educated person who listens but does not necessarily believe unless he can authenticate it by a reliable source.
Mr Tarek has said in another talk that Md bin Qasim killed Raja Dahir who had given asylum to the family of Mohammad.
I tried to google for a reference but could not get a reference if Dahir did give such an asylum.
There are many other things but this one stands out in my memory.
