You know, I actually kind of hate how people will compare the EN and JP voices. People always treat it like an "underdog" situation when I don't think its reasonable to compare two completely different languages with different things that go into voice acting. Unfortunately, sometimes I have no choice but to be forced into such arguments.
there's alreasy the burden of the JP VA being relatively well known, so the expectations for the ENG one is highly anticipated too (myself included). while I don't think the voice really does justice for the character on SOME part, it still manages to bring out the very serious, seasoned hunter on SOME part. basically a hit or miss on some lines.
The EN voice fits super well with his character. Something that I noticed is how all the abyssal hunters EN dub sound along the similar tones to me. I think it ties them all together real well, especially using them as a unit on the field when you can hear all of them talk
I listened to some of the voices, the ONLY improvement the VA needs is that he needs to be more emotionless with the lines, Ulpian doesn't raise the tone of his voice much which fits his personality- Or rather his signature skill to seemingly sneak around easily despite being 190cm tall.
Meanwhile in Jp Ulpianus- I live under the sea. Jotaro- I love creatures from the sea. Erwin- My soldiers want to see the sea. Sinbad- Iam the high king of the seven seas.😂
The english VA is good, but it's just impossible to match the JP VA, still, his work is good for what it is, and it should be appreciated and respected.
I mean to be fair Ulpianus’s Jp voice is god damn Daisuke Ono himself, any en voice is basically Dio getting his ass beat. Unfortunately this is the situation in which the winner is already decided, Taylor or any of the others who were potentially casted for Ulpianus’s en voice would have lost to Daisuke immediately.
Much as I prefer EN to JP just by virtue of being able to understand it, I just can't listen to Ulpianus of all characters. The fact it sounds almost exactly like one of those Movie Recaps AI voices grinds at my ears.

You know at first i thought it was bad but after listening to it more its actually not that bad only thing it needs is more gruff still decent

i always use Eng Dub, but since it's jotaro i'll use JP VA for him
