  • EDC - everyday carry. Frankly, our honest EDC wouldn't be much fun to look at. Having been working from home for several years, we don't actually have to carry anything on a daily basis. That said, this is what (and how) Glo carries, on days where we head out for some sunshine.

    What's your everyday (or not-so-everyday) carry?
    Also, let us know: who would like to see a ladies' edition of "What's In My Bag"??

    • @therealjenniferrr

      For me (ladies): A fanny pack that includes my phone (go android!), cardholder with cards, hand sanitizer, hand wipes, a pen, and a small pouch with a few small items such as lip gloss. Also my keys which I throw in my pants/jacket pocket or the fanny pack depending on situation.

      I pretty much just carrie my phone with id, and car keys. And occasionally hand sanitizer, though most shops and places you go to always have handsainters or soap anyway. (Women).. Unless I'm at uni, then it usually more than just that.

    My everyday carry is not minimalistic, but it is handy.
    Front right pocket: Phone, cardholder wallet, and earbuds in the little jeans pocket.
    Front left pocket: Keys + mini Swiss Army knife, pen, and an A6 sized pocket notebook.
    Back right pocket: A mini first aid kit.
    Watch: Casio F91W.

    Glad to see an honest urban EDC. And you were also honest about WAH (work at home). 👍🏻
    My urban edc fits inside a Zpacks wallet or passport pouch (ultralight Dyneema Composite Fabric), which fits inside a jean or shorts pocket. But usually carry the pouch inside a sling (COB X POD or Aer city sling V2).
    This 👇🏻is what I carry, if that helps enhance your edc. And I am conscious of not increasing weight on my edc, so that I carry it daily, plus have the right tools/system, for my use case.
    Jean/Shorts Pockets - Victorinox compact (switched the tooth pick for a fire steel from tortoise gear), RovyVon A8x flashlight (both multi tool & flashlight rides on pocket clips), Pepper gel with marker (instead of spray, so that I don’t have to judge wind direction), bandanna & nite ize nano steel carabiner on a pocket clip, housing key smart pro, mini cash can from sunshine & a victorinox midnite manager (midnite manager‘s 0/1 driver, compensates for the Philips capabilities missing in the compact).
    Zpacks pouch - Hand / screen wipes, thin optics emergency reading glass or contacts, boo boo kit, anker 10,000 mAh small power bank, lever gear cable kit, fisher bullet space pen, 2”x3” (wallet size) rite in rain, 2 feet duct tape, small Bic lighter, nano super glue, micro cordage, pill stash, 2 small zip ties & nano Tide stick. 1 large zip tie (in the event, I need to help restrain an unruly character), & an Apple air tag goes into the sling too. The above takes care of most eventualities in an urban environment for me. I carry a seperate tech kit whilst traveling to work (includes a maxpedition barnacle pouch that can stand upright on the train tray’s small space) & a separate hiking kit, when I am in the woods. These kits are dead investments or write offs, meaning, I don’t shift items between kits. Only replenish them.

    Like you, work from home all week. I'm usually out each day. It's card wallet, keys, phone, pen, small notebook. (Not keen on watches - I have a Seiko 5 with a NATO strap if I'm hiking without my phone.). In the UK the climate means most of the year they can be carried in jacket pockets. In the few weeks of summer when it's uncomfortable, I wear a very light weight armless fishing vest.

  • @emilysmith2784
    @emilysmith2784 2 роки тому

    I tend to just use pockets and I carry phone, mask, foldable tote bag, keys and wallet. I sometimes use a small back in summer when not wearing a coat but I am trying to only buy clothes with pockets going forward. Surprising harder than I thought it would be, especially when thrift shopping.

    Hi, I am a fan of EDC as well. The wallet I use is the bigskinny bi-fold. It function as a normal wallet but the best part is it uses very thin material hence it is still very slim & compact. As for the keys holder, I uses Keybar, Amercian made, very solid build. Same concept as the orbitkey but much easier to swing out the keys with 1 hand only.
    I am sure you will like it 😁

    For me, I try to keep my EDC minimal but living in Taiwan I need a few things to help survive such as bug spray, itch ointment (MUJI), suncream, hand towel, and obviously phone, wallet, keys. I heard Singapore does a good job keeping it mosquito-free! Would love to visit one day.

    Correction : Phone, Wallet, Keys & Swiss Army knife. These are a Man's 4 EDC essentials.
    At the very least you should be carrying a small 58mm keyring knife, mine is the 58mm Midnite Manager which besides the standard Victorinox miniature but essential tools adds a pressurized pen & a LED flashlight in its handles and this eliminates the need to pocket carry a separate pen & flashlight . Being a Man I also carry a 2nd Swiss Army knife of a larger size as part of my EDC, I rotate the 2nd knife according to my perceived needs on any particular day & my rotation includes such knives as the 93mm Pioneer X, the 93mm Farmer X, the 91mm Climber, the 91mm Huntsman & larger 111mm knives such as the Picknicker, Garant & Rucksack. For an evening dining out or socializing with friends I replace the larger multi-tool knife with an elegant Gentleman's knife such as the 93mm Swiss Army 1 or 2 or the 74mm Executive ( the famous MacGyver knife ). Swiss Army knives are not about carrying a deadly weapon ( the 911 Terrorists used $5 Boxcutters not Swiss Army knives ) it about having a small to medium useful tool in your pocket to deal with whatever little tasks life throws your way on any given day. Get a Swiss Army knife - Get a better Life!

    • @ThoughtworthyCo
      @ThoughtworthyCo  2 роки тому

      I really thought your comment was satire at one point (still can't tell for sure, tbh, but I'll assume you're serious).
      I get it, knives are useful (and cool). I have a couple of SAKs from my time in the army, and a couple more for utility. But in our city life I've never felt like I needed one with me, especially not when I'm just "out socializing with friends".
      There's no such thing as "at the very least a MAN should be carrying _____" - maybe with the exception that EVERYBODY should be carrying an open mind. Some people go without a wallet, some people go keyless, whatever works. You do you, bro. Cheers

      That's a very weird and distorted perception. Everyone has different values, including minimalists. Guess I won't be a minimalist anymore cause that watch really makes or breaks it according to you.
