I live in Quebec, Canada, where the December/January freezing temperatures average 15 degrees Celsius below zero. With a lead-acid battery I can leave the battery in the motorcycle for the 6 months of winter and connect-it to my intelligent lead-acid charger with the dongle all winter long. Can I do this with an Antigravity RE-START Lithium battery or do I need to remove the battery and bring it inside the house where it is warmer for these months and charge-it there?
With lithium, doesnt need to be left on the charger over winter. To start it during winter, turn your headlights on for 30secs, then hit the key. warms the battery up. Which lets it start quicker
I’m using a bike master lithium ion battery charger in my antigravity restart motorcycle battery … the battery was charged up full but sat awhile before being discharged because I have a motorcycle with starting issues. Why won’t the battery recharge? The bike master charger just shows a green power light … no charging red and no green fully charged…. Nothing seems to be happening. Could the battery be defective? The charger? 🤷♂️
How is this battery dealing with motorcycle charging system. Some motorcycles regulators charge at voltages as high as 15.3V. Are these batteries able to cope with that?
A note about the remote re-start by applying voltage. Without doing anything else you can just attempt a bump start if you know how to do that. It won't start but the charging system will briefly apply 12 volts to the terminals when you do this and this will activate the re-start feature. Then just hit the starter button and it will start as normal. I myself have used this and I know many others who have as well.
So i can just drop one of these right into my 99 rebel 250 and the factory stator will charge fine? I have rc car lithium chargers to cover charging if i need to
@@AntigravityBatteries I don't understand how the battery is able to charge from an unmodified motorcycle regulator, but it also requires a special lithium charger? Doesn't the BMS take care of managing the charge current in all cases?
Yes, actually provided all the devices and key is off on the bike so no energy is being sucked out of the 9v battery. We actually make a REMOTE RE-START to waken the battery without having to remove the seat. Its at this link antigravitybatteries.com/products/accessories/battery/cables-parts/restart-remote-powersports/
In 47 years of motorcycling, I've never been stranded by a dead battery. I use a lead-acid and more recently an AGM battery and for the 8+ years I get out of them, I cannot really complain.
Similar for me, 50 years riding going strong. I have no use for re-start either. I get 10+ years out of these but sounds like you are getting 8 so not much better. These are insanely light and small compared to AGM and wet batteries. Matters a lot to me, but not for everyone.
@@jameshisself7375 I see no point to spending more for a battery unless I get more life out of them. So if it costs 50%:more, I should get 50% more life out of them, so 15 years compared to 10 years. For everyday use, weight is not an issue. Motorcycle batteries are small to start with, so what am I saving, a few pounds. In the end people can spend their money as they please. I just would not spend $1300 on an AntiGravity battery when I can get an AGM for under $200 for my car.
@@brownies-midlifeadventure5333 Why have you used it so much? Do you have really heavy electrical loads? Is there any warning before the battery gives out?
@Nicholas Barber I do fly in fly out work (month on month off), and always at short notice so most time I don't get an opportunity to disconnect the battery, also the bike is stored where I have no power supply... which was the main reason for buying the Antigravity Battery with Re-Start... however it has also saved my butt once or twice in very remote areas of Australia too (due to key left on). Love it
Absolutely YES, but with the caveat that if you have a Pre 1990s vehicle make sure the Charging system is in good working order. The reason is because Pre-1990 many charging system voltage regulators were mechanical on most bikes and they can go bad and allow for high voltage and spike over-voltage to the battery. So check for that if you have an very old bike... the 90s bikes are over 30 years old now, and those voltage regulators went bad. Nowadays it solid state voltage regulator that rarely go bad, so you good with any modern bike.
The Antigravity Battery will work fine in Climates like Arizona and we do tons of Track Days here in Califonia where the temps are in the 105s, but on the track its even hotter. As an FYI extreme heat can effect all batteries, but with that being said, Lithium is quite a bit more resilient to high heat than Lead/Acid.
Will the BMS be able handle, over the long term, the heat from the constant charging of a regular motorcycle 14.4vdc system on very long multi day rides?
@@AntigravityBatteries OMG, I did better than that, I just purchased your YTX20 780 CCA battery, it is perfect height and unbelievable power, my starter spins so fast is amazing. Hey Colin, yes the Vehicle Batteries for Motorcycles, Cars, and all other vehicles are Lifepo4. Our other products do have other lithium chemistries. For example the Jump Starter are not Lifepo4.
Yes you can... the battery operates the same as any other battery but has a built in reserve for the Jump-Starting feature, but should be maintained and charged as a normal battery.
Sounds like a great battery. Only thing I'd change is putting a restart button remote on the bike where you can get to it without taking your seat off.
You can activate the restart feature by just attempting a bump start, it won't start but after you do that you can hit the starter and start it normally.
Yes. In terms of size, it will fit just the same as any other standard battery replacement for the '13 S197 Mustang. As for the blower, if you have a bolt-on blower kit like a Magnuson, Paxton, Whipple ETC, in terms of cranking power, you'll have plenty of power to fire up your ponycar. Heck, we're pretty sure you'd be okay, even running a 3.1L blower.
Well not entirely... you should use a modern Lithium Stand alone Charger, when using a charger. A stand alone Lithium Charger does not charge like a stand alone lead/acid charger, so the modern lead acid chargers have a de-sulfate mode that spikes voltage to clean sulfation the lead plates.. but Lithium does not sulfate so putting a lead acid charger on the Lithium isn't good. But in the bikes it works fine since bikes don't have a "sulfation" mode when charging...
Lithium batteries don’t need super capacitors to produce very high amps. Especially LiFePO4 (LFP) batteries have very high specific power. Some special built Li-ion batteries can go even higher but they have a much shorter life cycle. Have a look at those tiny jump starters for example.
Where is the link to the remote restart module? I cannot access the top of my battery. It is under my gas tank. Also wanted to confirm that the ATX12 is the correct model for a 2016 BMW R nine T. Thanks great video. I'm sold.
