But do you know how to make a bomb that will blow your kitchen apart an the microwave door right off?
It's an easy 10 minute countdown on a really nice strong microwave,, add a couple of eggs with a few potatoes the same size set the timer for 10 minutes and better run to hide!
The egg and a potato have to be kissing each other at the same time might make it work better LOL

I was with you up to drying the potato but then I usually leave the potato moist, wrap it in a paper towel, then bake it, in the microwave oven. It is done beautifully, and I can top it with my choices. I don't like mustard, so that doesn't go on mine. God bless.

OK....after rinsing the potato.......put it on top of a dry paper towel, 3 pieces if you have the tear a piece kind, then put about a teaspoon of olive oil on both sides of same and then put some salt and pepper on top and use the course style and then wrap the potato with the paper towel. 5 minutes is good and leave it wrapped for at least 2 minutes. Unwrap.....put a nice slit down the top like they said and then squish it open a little and put butter and a little Sour Cream in on top of the butter and a little more normal pepper on top and then sprinkle some fresh cut up chives on top~~~~and NOW you have a Fantastic Baked Potato to TALK ABOUT!!!

Jacket potato needs a crispy skin, so cover in a little oil and finish in the oven or air fryer. Also, instead of pricking with a fork cut around the circumference with a knife. When cooked the potato will cut/break in half nice and easy.

Close after trying many methods I settled on 1. wash 2. Poke twice, from one side with a narrow blade knife going roughly 1/2 way through. 3. Rewet the potato and wrap very well with micro-proof cling film. Cook for 5 minutes on high, wait 3-4 minutes then flip and cook another 3-5 minutes. Depending on the size of the spud cook times may need to be extended by 1-3 minutes per side on a really big spud or reduced for a small one.

Plane old Scott Brite pad does fantastic job when washing vegetables while leaving most the skin I prefer to keep skins on
But prefer oven baked potatoes so skin gets a little crunchy
Or peel supper thick and back the skins season a bit and eat with a dipping sauce of your choice like sour cream or hidden valley

PERFECT MICROWAVE CORN ON THE COB... 1) Leave the corn completely in the husk. 2) Put it in the microwave for 3 mins. 3) Turn it over, cook it again for 3 mins. 4) Take it out with a glove (it's hot). 5) Cut off 1/2 inch of the stalk end. 6) Using the glove, grab the top of the ear holding tightly onto the cornsilk and remaining husk. 7) Wiggle the corn cob around a bit and the corncob will fall right out of the husk without a single hair of cornsilk left on it! 8) Cut off 1/2 inch of the top end. 9) Insert your cornholders. 10) Enjoy an unbelievably and perfectly cooked ear of corn! YOU SIMPLY WILL NOT BELIEVE HOW PERFECTLY THIS COOKS THE CORN! This 3 minutes on each side is with a 1100 W microwave! YOU'RE WELCOME!

Dang it... is it ok if I wash it afterward, as the last step? See, I d un n et it already.
Wait a second... wash it, poke holes with a fork all over. Cover it with a very wet paper towel cook 6 minutes. I been doing that way for years

Prior to washing start preheating your oven. Microwave 3 minutes a side. Put in oven to finish it off. Speeds up the perfection of an oven baked potato instead of just a heated/cooked spud.

What wattage is your microwave oven?
    Mine is 1200 watt.

Yeah, mine is 1200 as well. If I microwave a potato for 10 minutes, it’s going to come out dried up and shriveled…..maybe cause I never poked holes in it?

You don't need tp poke so many holes. I just poke holes with a fork once on each side. When microwaving you can hear the steam coming out of the holes.

They say you shouldn’t poke a bunch of holes in the potato because it lets out all the moisture instead you only put a cut in the potato at each end about 1/2 inch in

instead of poking holes, slice potato halfway through with a knife. microwave until potato is about 3/4 done (flipping once). wrap potato in tin foil and let sit for ten minutes (it will finish cooking). the skin will be moist and pliable, not dry and tough...

If you don't follow the directions and poke the holes first you will get an exploding spud in your microwave.
