Also fahre selber einen Audi 100 Quattro .Täglich habe ich 5 Zylinder Sound aber dabei stellen sich alle Haare bei mir einfach nur Hammer geil Super nettes DANKESCHÖN ein absoluter Traum für mich und meine Kinder .

i´m one of those priviledged who drove these cars: our Audi was allthough the long wheel base model, still 20 valve engine... we had 10 valve urquattro too(ex-works both). and one of the sexiest sound machine ever: mg metro 6r4... they were awesome cars, i would give my left arm to drive them again...
I agree with Bob Brown. These feels like parade laps. Not the least driven to full extension :( HOWEVER! Very nice photage, good quality and nicely cut video! A definite like! Kudoz!
8:10 could tell he kept the gas on too much for the downshift and over-revved it. Excellent driving though, some of the best I've seen. Plus, who can beat that rumbly ghostly 5 cylinder sound?

As a person old enough to see these at first hand, I can tell you that it is without doubt the best sight I have seen in 25 years of following motorsport, but if I remember correctly, they were rated at around 450 bhp plus in S1 form and in excess of 500 bhp in S1 E2 form. But whatever, they are without doubt the best rally car ever.
Walter Röhrl ist bei uns auf der Ostalbralley in Abtsgmünd vor 5 Jahren noch einen auserhalb der Wertung gefahren. War echt Spitze. Auch wenn er natürlich mehr zurückhaltend gefahren war. Langsam war er absolut nicht.
There is no ca rin this video with anything others than the conventionell h-shifter . Audi used a PDK gearbox in the late days of Group B , i think it was 85 or 86 in RAC . The S1 with PDK was a gift to Walter when he left Audi . Later the car was sold to Alexander Gerber , he replaced it with the normal h-shifter gearbox because spare parts are nearly unavailable .
I am sure there are millionsss out there that miss the fascination of a car like the audi sport quattro.In comparison today's rallye cars look like cofee making machines bien swung hard around

They didn't use anykind of blow-off valve, what causes that noise. Check out some truck pulling videos and you will hear that same kind noise when they lift off the throttle after pull. And surely there are no blow-off/dump valves on competition turbodiesel engines. Turbo itself makes that noise, but it's complicated to explain(for me). :)
Don't forget that this is a modern clip of a vintage car. Due to restrictions put down by the FIA back in the 80s group b rally cars are restricted to less than two thirds their original power output. It was either that or the cars got outright banned from any form of racing altogether. It looks slow because unfortunately it is slow. Only running about 300bhp. Modern rally fans have no idea how much of a privilege it is to see one of these cars in action. If you want to see an S1 if full fligh
@xMrGorillax Das ist kein Problem , für einen echten S1 geht es so ca. ab 250 000€ loß - wenn mal ein echter verkauft wird . Von den 20 gebauten S1 gibt es offiziell noch 18 . Das Siegerauto von 1985 gilt ja als verschrottet , da aber bald die verjährung vorbei ist , mal sehen ...
@Quattroowner Kann dir hier nicht ganz zustimmen denn motormäßig ist Garys S1 viel weiter vom Original entfernt als der von Gehrt allerdings hast du schon irgendwie recht - von außen ist Garys S1 näher am Original...

@Jop3lius not the turbo that makes that sound, it's the dump/bypass valve.
