  • Got this camera a few days ago and wanted to test the capabilities of this little compact camera. Original footage was shot at 1080p 50 frames (not fields) per second and edited in Adobe Premiere Pro on a bog-standard Macbook using 'Interpret Footage' to convert 50p to 25 fps, to get 50% slow motion. The footage was also treated to Magic Bullet Looks to get a 'diffusion' effect.
The stabiliser is excellent in this camera, as is the AF. These are just a few shots letterboxed to 2.33. The track is 'Angel' (Ft J. Lang).
The footage uploaded was encoded as 720p VBR 2 pass 8-11 mbs. This little camera does excellent job of video with a great optical zoom, albeit with limited manual control. Takes good pictures too and easily fits in a shirt pocket. I just love tech!

There's always something better just around the corner Mike! I needed a big zoom too so this fitted the bill nicely. A refurbished model cheap on eBay swung it for me! I was thinking of getting rid of the Xacti but for what it's worth, it makes a useful good spare camera.

You know I fell for it again. I said to myself 50 fps? lol. Europe....America.....you know. But comment readers will be confused. Anyway, this new camera of yours shoots great video. I like the diffusion effect you mention. You know we just got a new camera for our son, the Kodak playsport. It's an $80 camera and it's indoor capture blows away the Xacti. Tiny thing, size of a cell phone. We're gonna get a 2nd one for ourselves! Nice video Alan.

How would you rate this outdoors and on the move Alan? Any good in low light? The image certainly looks sharp ....atb Mark.
